Ahh, going after my cap straight away, Lanka? Heh, doubt I could ever beat that beastie besieging it, but it's not like you will ever get the walls down. I guess it was a strategic move to knock my income down and prevent me from recruiting more Jarls.

Heh, kind of funny, since I have had no income for years. Well, sit there for as long as you like. We'll shoot spitwads at you from the walls ;)

Nah I was just looking for some fat juicy jotun PDs to turn into death gems. Too bad they didn't give me a ride home once I had bagged a few.

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

We will keep the holiday hosting for the current (65th) turn. On turn 66, we will move to 60h, as per scheducle in the first post. I'll send a warning about this with the 66th turn file.

Sorry about the stale, I was stuck without internet for 3 whole days because god apparently hates my internet connection. I had to watch TV for amusement, like some god-damned animal! Can you believe that?

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

Poor Burnsaber :(

Isokron - Man, when are you going to take my cap already? You killed almost all my useful units already. Now hurry up and kill my starving and diseased moose :P

Lingchih January 3rd, 2010 02:13 AM

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

3 day hosting, Burn? Really? You do realize that 3 day hosting kills most games? I would leave it at 48, regardless of the first post.

While we are on the topic, why are we still on 96 hour? The holiday is over, and let's get this game over with too!

I'm a game admin as well for this game. Though I would not usurp your authority Burn, I would like to get the game moving again.

You might be right, but I need to hear opinions from others players before deciding. No offense, but you really aren't the player with the most micro at the moment

That's basically because I forgot to switch the hosting time before sending my last turn, which made the oldhosting time stay (it's bad to bring the clock backwards for any reason, some one is always struck by suprise because they took saw the non-reduced time on the e-mail.)

OK, cool. Thanks for answering Burn.

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

Mandehas, leading armies of Danava giants? Umm, why are we still playing this game?

Oh, yeah, because we are stubborn bastards.

And Isokron, I take back anything I said about you being a noob. You're a very good player, and countered me perfectly. Of course, I won't go down without a fight.

You should've realized that from his join date, to be honest. He was a noob in a game that started in the Summer of 2008! :p And he has two victories listed in the hall of fame.

I'd say he's one of those sneaky bastids who don't even talk a whole lot.

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

Hmm. My entire empire taken down in one turn. Nicely done, Lanka. You must have been planning that for a while. I am honored that you chose me to gank.

My economy is ruined, of course, but what lies in those four castles of mine? Horrible, horrible things, Lanka, as you will see.

Extended clock by 12h because I've been up my neck in sudden school work. I won't be able to submit a coherent turn until wednesday evening.

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

I've got a suggestion. Conceed to Lanka?

I'm honestly ready to be done with this game. My interest has been waning ever since the death of Oceania, but now it seems quite pointless to continue since unstoppable darkness is covering the earth.

Lingchih January 12th, 2010 10:33 PM

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

Conceed? I haven't even fought him yet. I'm more than willing to concede, but not quite yet.

rdonj January 12th, 2010 10:34 PM

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

I am of course all for conceding, as I basically do not exist anymore. That being the case though, my opinion is pretty irrelevant :)

We can let ling get in a fight if he likes, that would be fine by me.

Burnsaber January 13th, 2010 01:03 PM

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

I'm ready to concede too. Let's keep on rolling for few more turns so that we can get some last punches in the Lankan juggernaut forces.

Oops. Thought I'd already sent my turn in days ago.

Unfortunately, Lanka keeps avoiding my forces that could actually do damage to him. He seems to be quite good at that. I guess I could do a turn or two more. Thanks for all the stuff guys.

Killed a raksharaja (whoopee!), and lost a Jarl who thought he was going to fight a single Arch Devil, and ended up fighting the army of the apocalypse. I'll lose my weakest castle this turn, with three castles with significant defenders left after that.

Bells of Cleansing are actually quite nice. They are a bit better than I had thought they were. Just too many demons for me to deal with them all effectively.

Isokron January 14th, 2010 01:49 PM

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

Why do you think your single niefelgiant+gargyole would have done so much more damage than the niefelgiant that actually ran into the army ?

Oh and now that I have reached the exalted rank of corporal you can give up without shame.

Burnsaber January 14th, 2010 04:48 PM

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

Okay, let's get some official voting in. "Playing a few more turns" isn't really exact terms.

So, let's poll:

Who agrees that the game should end on turn 70 if no serious damage is dealt to Lanka?

aye

Agreed

Cuz I'd probably just splat in Lanka's windshield anyway, I'm leaning on "aye". :(

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

Agreed.

Time to see what we have in terms of "the kitchen sink" and throw it at Lanka. En guarde!

6 more hours until this game ends. :)

Et tu Ulm

So am i seriously wounded or not ?

rdonj January 16th, 2010 02:57 PM

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

Not really imo. We barely even dented your army graph. Good game, and congratulations on the victory.

Lingchih January 16th, 2010 07:45 PM

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

Got a nice fight in at the end, and killed a Mandeha and a few thugs along with it, at the cost of blinding all my troops except the pretender and a few Gygja. But no, I didn't do significant damage.

Well done, Isokron.

Stretch January 16th, 2010 08:15 PM

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

This was fun, but clearly my forces aren't going to make a dent in Lanka (not enough to halt the constant rise of his army graph). Good game all.

Isokron January 17th, 2010 02:11 PM

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

Ok I game over then? Otherwise I have a lot of scripting to do and will probably need an extension of the turn.

Sensori January 17th, 2010 03:04 PM

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

Yes, the game is over I guess. And that stupid King of Elemental Fire I attacked just got crippled, but wouldn't die! :(

Yeah, I think it is game over. Let us delete this abomination from the llamaserver.

Yeah, sorry about that. I thought that the victory conditions would have been easier to achieve.

Isokron, well played.

My game sort of fell into inactivity. I had grandiose plans but I always delayed them, and then I got really busy IRL and when I was ready to execute the plan it was too late and I had to come up with something else.

Well, at least UWGIM got some daylight and seems to work alright. I actually enjoyed playing EA R'lyeh with it. Noticed some bugs that are now squashed in the most recent version.

Any thoughts on CPCS? My scouts saw some battles where the new spells were used for great effect.

Squirrelloid January 18th, 2010 02:50 AM

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

The water teleport is about as crappy as i thought it would be.

There is basically nothing a water nation without astral can do to defend against raiding, especially with something powerful like a QoW. Being able to water teleport on top of raiders is almost essential - you might actually be able to kill the damn thing. But otherwise water movement is really fricking slow, and a raider could strike almost anywhere (especially as most raiders will tp/cloud trapeze in). In the case of a powerful raider like QoW, it can just avoid any army which might give it problems, and it's virtually impossible to force a confrontation.

I spent the last like 5 turns of that game chasing raiders totally ineffectually.

Isokron January 18th, 2010 02:38 PM

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

Thanks for the game I certainly had fun playing it. Lanka clearly felt like the most powerful nation I have played so far once it got going. I think cbm might be a bit off in lowering the price for some of their summons (ie Davanas 75->65 blood slaves 3->4 summoned).

Although I have to admin a lot of my impression and the outcome of this game depended on the lucky find of a 40% blood sites toward the end of my war with Marverni.

rdonj January 18th, 2010 06:20 PM

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

Yeah, those danava were crazy. Between them and the mandeha, we in the west had no chance since we pretty much all relied on sacreds to do our fighting.

Burnsaber - CPCS is great fun. I didn't really have a chance to use the UWGIM stuff.
