@Lihaässä: Goodness! That is around 1/3 of my banana empire, and there is awful lot of monkey poo and banana peels I'd have to clean up to make those lands nice for your friendly troops. How about one or two of those instead? I'll even throw in a few flying mini monkeys... they make great pets!

Dear Boss of the giants!

I propose an agreement about the division of the pangaean lands. I would like to own Yshan and Yshan coast and the lands south from there. I consider it a fair deal as I already have his northern fort under siege.

@Lihaassa
I am sorry, I am not interested at all in fire or water gems. I am afraid we are seeking the same type of gems.

@Nrasch
Would you like 25 astral gems, in exchange of 25 death ones ? I can send them this turn (I am not able to trade those on a regular basis).
In addition, are you able to craft Rainbow armor, that we can trade for ?

Finalgenesis November 18th, 2010 04:12 AM

Re: Great Forum, game running

@Num

We would be happy to trade you 25 death for 25 astral or interchangeably with nature.

nrasch November 18th, 2010 11:33 AM

Re: Great Forum, game running

@Num: Sounds like a plan. I'll send over the 25 death gems this turn. :) Please confirm you are doing the same for the astral. :)

@Nrasch
I shall do that tonight this turn.

@Finalgenesis
I do not have enough astral gems (Nor nature ones). Maybe in a few turns...
Remember half your treasure will be mine in some time, do not waste it, you owe me your survival :happy:

@Nrasch - Sorry to be harsh but you're monkeys destroyd my cocoons long time before you started to sail the ship. I just take what is righfully ours. You may still leave the territories as I requested and I shall fullfill my part of the deal.

For me talking about peace with a huge army at my border is not really that honest. It's not third of your territories, but a lot less. There is alot action going behind your back and securing my side would be a benefactory for both of us. I could also throw in lets say 30 F and 15 A gems as a sing of my good will and you're banana flavoured tears.

What say you?

Uhm... no clue... *stupid goblin face* i hear stones do work against humans, and against spiders too, so i guess you could switch over to that (away from poo flinging).

As for the dragons: one or two spellcasters that only target them (large damage, yet one-target spells) seem to do quite well against those. unfortunately the bastards always fly away when almost dying, hugely annoying.

Basically: kill em all.

Well, I am not very experienced but I do not think (and I expect) that you cannot do anything to restore any chance.

War against you was very tough for me, I have taken much time to find solutions to counter what you were doing. I am sure that you lost for a big part because of the weakness of Ulm, and the limited possibilities of this nation (Vanheim on the opposite has much more options, actually for a mediocre player like me).

I would like to add that its possible to find enjoyment and find reason in fighting with very little chances to win, and there are also legit reasons to stop playing. I dont intend to persuade u to play along (or go ai), after this one try: I prefer u playing, i found ur presence added (and adds) a lot to this game, and personaly I'd rather play with u still at the helm of Ulm. So I wont be any upset if u leave, and it will add to my happiness if u stay. :)

Please do not evade or make everything possible to make a few soldiers surviving anywhere. You will for sure be able to survive for a while, that might be fun for you, that will not be the same for me to try to catch some remnants like an eel.
I can imagine what the hell it could be... Please defend yourself but do not make the end of my game horrible.

earcaraxe November 26th, 2010 07:50 AM

Re: Great Forum, game running

I dont think its possible to make it "horrible" on this small map. A pretender even drops out if it doesnt have dominion for instance, but there are other reasons to it too.

but i understand it would have been much easier for u if he had just given up :)

Num November 26th, 2010 09:36 AM

Re: Great Forum, game running

I do not ask for make it easier.
An AI or a good player cannot do anything to avoid complete defeat in very few turns.
But it is very simple in Dom3 to survive with very few troops, hero, thug, with stealth and the efficiency of avoiding moves (I can easily imagine that because I have taken much advantage of it against Arnob).
And I am not experienced and talented enough to finish a nation which DO want to survive. I do not know how to catch a stealthed powerful thug who is going to appear anywhere.
I only want my nerves staying alive, that is all. Althought Arnob has already admitted he has lost, he can make my game a nightmare with almost nothing left, I am afraid that would be easy.
Anyway, you probably know what I mean.
Maybe I am wrong, maybe it is impossible to stay alive with one province and a commander, but I am scared by the words "how many turns I can survive ?".

earcaraxe November 26th, 2010 10:43 AM

Re: Great Forum, game running

i am curious of others/experts opinion on how surviving for long time is easy. My personal view is that although its easy to prolonge final defeats for some turns, a very resilient but severely weakened opponent is not a big factor. A guerrilla attack here and there but thats all. I believe there might be exceptions - special circumstances, very talented opponent - (for instance a fully kitted flying stealthy SC) but its not typical. These thugs are in a constant fleeing mode as whole armies are after them, and the famous saying applies here: "Beware: we have to be lucky only once, but u have to be lucky always".

what do u think?

Num November 26th, 2010 12:22 PM

Re: Great Forum, game running

I do not know. Really. I only want the game challenging, fun and interesting, not boring (Single player, AI), nor annoying. We will see.

Re: Great Forum, game running

Well just look at us, back from the cusp of death if only to ensure vengeance before we go.

Dragging out our survival as long as we can enabled us to enact some all-out diplomacy (and a measure of luck) to ensure our malefactors burn alongside us. Our victory is already forfeited, but we're sure as hell having fun bringing our enemies to hell with us.

Lihaässä November 27th, 2010 04:40 AM

Re: Great Forum, game running

@Admin - could you delay hosting until sunday evening? I'm out of town.

About survival: I have seen a tiny nation rising from ashes after being attacked by major powers. Sometimes it's fun to have just a few provinces. Then you're able to really focus on you troops and pick the right spells for each battle. Making a hell for your opponent means that he will lose significant amount of time and resources trying to finalize you.. he might even lose major battles at the other fronts - what more can you want, when you want to have a revenge? ;)

Re: Great Forum, game running

Dear participants!

I think the banning of private conversations was a interesting experiment (for me). As I see it, this rule kills most of the conversation. I'd like to spice up the game by lifting the ban: I believe there will be more talk, more human contact, more planning and discussing, intriguing, more emotions, which I think would make the game more interesting, more sparkling, more fun. I understand there are reasons versus this change, but i consider the pro-reasons outweigh them.

U all signed up for this game with the rules set, so i wont change it without consensus: everyone has the right to veto it until december 5, 12:00 GMT.

awaiting ur opinion,

earcaraxe

Num November 30th, 2010 02:48 AM

Re: Great Forum, game running

I do not think that this rule has blocked that much diplomacy in this game.
Anyway, this is too late (And my vote is no). Everybody (except one of course) must consider that the only way to play since Bandar Log and Shinuyama has been defeated (partially or not) is to fight Machaka as soon as possible in order to destroy this monster. Even Jotunheim must help, all the other nations have borderline with the enemy.
There will be diplomacy after, if we survive the hideousness.

earcaraxe November 30th, 2010 04:00 AM

Re: Great Forum, game running

why do u think there will be more diplomacy if machaka gets beaten?

Num November 30th, 2010 06:27 AM

Re: Great Forum, game running

Because there is no need to talk about the duty to attack and defeat Machaka. We must do it right now if we do not want to get taken out by Lihaassa very soon.

I call upon every nation to break treaties and attack Machaka right now from everywhere.

I am doing this this turn. The NAP I have with Lihaassa is broken on turn 50. Attacks may happen on turn 54.

You all should do the same and attack everywhere. Finalgenesis, you should take all your time, resource and energy to help us from distance. Let's destroy those ugly spiders.

For people who do not want to help or think they can benefit from getting out of this Duty, do not expect victory one second, it would be ridiculous to think resisting Machaka one by one. By tearing us apart with such behavior, you are going to offer victory to the Black Sorcerers.

We'll see after that. It will be time to discuss... That is what I meaned.

earcaraxe November 30th, 2010 07:20 AM

Re: Great Forum, game running

Re: Great Forum, game running

@Vanheim

We had planned to suicide against Pan and Ulm though it seems now we'll have the other small half remain upon Ulm's destruction. After paying you the agreed price we planned to suicide our remaining forces somewhere and move onto Valhalla.

Might I suggest an amendment to our agreement: on Ulm's destruction, we pay you generously in gems as agreed. But instead of parting with half our armory / capital + the few provinces north of it (after which it becomes more or less pointless for us and we'll go kamikaze on something):

a) we'll enter into a game-long no aggression against you (well, unless you call off the NAP yourself...), and on the off chance that the game comes down to you + me, I'll give up by default and hand you the win, the host Earcaraxe can be witness here.

b) You can designate twice in the remainder of this game who we go to war with. e.g. "go to war with machaka." In which case we will, and will not enter NAP or make peace until you call us off. We will send in and keep at least 1/3 of our forces on the initial offensive, or at least half of our forces if no one else is warring on us. Note we need access to the nation we are warring with to send in troops... (We can't actually see Machaka at the moment). We can only war with one designated nation at a time (if you want us to war on someone else while already calling us on Machaka, we will have to be able to make peace with or destroy machaka first)

We might wring a bit more action of out this yet.

Num November 30th, 2010 12:04 PM

Re: Great Forum, game running

I do not intend to take you half your territory and see you disappear. I only want half your treasure (money, items and gems) as a gift for having saved your nation (frankly that was not the ultimate goal, of course).
I used to not care about this because I thought you would be already dead, or almost dead, when I would have destroyed (If successfull) Ulm.
You have survived, Congrats. So if you want to, what about going to war against Machaka if you think you can help with your armies ? I could admit to see your forces travel across my provinces and lose some passive defense and income. Maybe you can take advantage of magic carpets (or other items I do not know).
I do not intend to attack you, I expect Abysia would help us (Your other border will be secured) so maybe your forces, money and powers could help destroying the ugly Monster ? Are you fine with this plan ?

Finalgenesis November 30th, 2010 02:00 PM

Re: Great Forum, game running

We actually preferred to suicide against our 2 enemies in a blaze of glory then to actually survive @.@ It seems we'll get our revenge AND survive now... what a downer.

But sure, half the gems and items then (if you'd look at our income, you'll realize gold doesn't exist in the wastelands we call home, 1/2 of 0 gold = 0 gold). I'll need some time to re-arm my thugs before I can actually war on machaka, but I'm otherwise willing.

my stock consist of many sets of cheap thug equips (saint shrouds, luck amulets, reinvig boots, blood axes, vine shields here and there, 2x rainbow armor ...etc) and boosters (ring of sorcery, 2 blood booster, skull staff). So... You have a choice of a bunch of random thug equips or my booster set.

Re: Great Forum, game running

First about the diplomacy: I don't want to change a setting when we are this far away with the game. So that's a no from my side. I think Diplomacy has been good in this game and your setting has made diplomacy "equal" since not all are able to communicate through irc, telephone, e-mail, pm's or something else.

@Everyone about Vanheim's propaganda: If you've been reading the statistic charts as carefully as I am, you would have seen that by attacking me from all directions You will boost Vanheims success, and that's where he is aiming.

@Finalgenesis & Arnob - Especially those far away from my lands - Ulm and Jotunheim, you've been attacked with Vanheims thugs and now he assumes that you will join his troops to make him the largest nation in the game. He tries to use you, I'm more than happy to help you with my resources if you still want to fight against him.

@ Nrach - Bandarlog is far from defeated - we are talking about peace with them and I have no quarrel with them. You should turn your face behind you and fight with those you have a longer borderline. My nap proposal is still valid and I'm willing to change my terms so that i only get North Amar and Upper Amar. In excange I will give you quarantee of peace (NAP 3)

@ Earcaraxe - Everyone is seeing you dom push. You are no threath to me nor me to you, we only share one border line accross the sea. Why would you want to fight trough a bottleneck when your dominion is doing the fighting without blood?

@ Num - If you think I'm the easiest opponent to enlarge your nation, please do attack. I'm waiting ;)

Finalgenesis December 1st, 2010 03:42 AM

Re: Great Forum, game running

@Machaka:

The price I am to pay for Van's aid in completing our bloodfeud on ulm is to war on you and pay him half my stuff, nothing personal / because you're powerful / ...etc. We're basically not a contender but not quite weak enough to just kamikaze the nation now that Van don't want half my lands.

Gem income : Vanheim 53, Machaka 104

Do not consider yourself as a servant of Vanheim. Feel free to do what you want (Well please do not be ungrateful). Althought I would like to see you do whatever you can against Machaka (Like any other player).
I only want a reward in gems (I prefer earth, air, death or nature) and items (rainbow armor, good water items I cannot craft, ring of sorcery if you do not need it). That is all. Then you will be free.
