Re: Official Image Collection

And about the Image Mod... there are plans to make an Events pack. It will start off with the B5 Mod events, and maybe those 2 from AIC if JLS permits, as those are the only mods currently with custom event pictures. So, go make some nifty event images and post them (or email to admin at spaceempires dot net if you have no web space to post yourself)! Naming format must be in the form of some group identifier, underscore, image name. This is because events can have arbitrary names, so the group name will make it so that there can be several different "Pirate Attack" events, just in different Groups. For example, a Ship Moved event image in the B5 Mod pack would be named "B5_Ship Moved.bmp". No minis are necessary, as there are only 128x128 bitmaps for events. Credits info is, as always, a must. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Re: Official Image Collection

I still think there should be a standard sound FX pack as well... especially since unlike with images, you have to have EVERY sound you're using, even the stock ones, in the mod directory if you have a Sounds directory under the mod directory http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

(I used to have all the SFX from MOO2, plus a few unused ones like a cool electric discharge that they threw into the sound file, extracted with something like LbxEx, but I can't find a working Version of that program (or maybe my MOO2 files are corrupted)... those would make a GREAT addition to SE4's sound library! Stellar converters away! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif )

If you or Fyron wants to collect them I'd be more than happy to have the collections available on imagemodserver.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">NO, as a matter of fact, it was a .rar file. Sorry I wasn't more specific. The file in question is the Star Wars II file for the sci-fi crossover mod. I was able to download it without any problems. I was able to un-rar(?) it with no problems. But when I tried to compress the mod from it's folder so I can put them on floppies, it gave me that error message. So I don't know if it's the mod, or something in the mod that can't be compressed in this method. any clues?

Check the .rar file and see if it has read only attribute selected. If so, deselect it. Then, open it in WinRar and use the ConVersion utility to convert it directly to a multi-part archive. Or get a USB flash drive as mentioned in the other thread. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

SJ, I just wanted to ask, if I want to submit components for the ImageMod, what format should I use, and how should I send them to you? I'd imagine that I would just make the portraits and zip them, and that you'd shrink them to make the minis (since you're the one keeping track of which goes where in the components.bmp file anyway), but is there some other convention that I'm not aware of? I had some combo colony modules from a while back that I never got around to submitting and I was thinking of doing some warheads, one for each damage type, since Adamant Mod uses lots of different mine warheads, and the patch is going to let us use them on drones as well!

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Sorry, it's been a while... were you talking about the MOO2 sounds? (I finally did get them extracted, a new Version of MultiEX did the trick http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon6.gif )

Re: Official Image Collection

Zip or Rar your package, and post it.
You can also upload to ftp://imagemodserver.mine.nu/uploads if you are desperate.

Required files:
- Portraits - obvious
- Minis - either in a "mini-strip" separate files.
(These MUST be in the same order as the portraits, or things will get messy!)
- Credits.txt - write down who needs to be credited for the creation of the images, and how. Text only, keep it short and to the point.

OK, I tried uploading it to the imagemodserver, but I got the same error that I believe you told me to ignore soon after trying to upload it, and I don't believe my connection's that fast, so I don't know if you got it... it's 500K, want me to just email it?

Re: Official Image Collection

There isn't any partially sent file in my uploads folder, so it must not have started properly.
For the upload folder, you have permission to write, but not to read. The complaint Messages will reflect that...

Any way is fine. The direct way is just faster.

Re: Official Image Collection

I've added those components finally.
My only complaint is that the minis for the plague warheads look too similar.

Would it look OK if you made the dark green bits on the base count up the level?
IE: All dark = Level 1
One light = Level 2
etc

As for new engines, how about dual-engines, and oversize engine (something really beefy like what should be on a baseship http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif ) Versions of the drives?
Perhaps some afterburner-style devices that have the various tech level drives sticking out instead of just tubes?

PS:
I've also got another submission in my to do pile, but it has no credits, and I have no idea who it is from.
"Mypics.zip" with 4 components and a number of facilities.
If you sent this in, please speak up.
