I think Shin is at war with Ashdod too.

Nations of Origin, just a heads up:

Pythium lost its last legion holding Ashdod back from our wealthy, though magically barren lands. Pretty much all our mages were overrun by berserking, regenerating, reinvigorating, high protection giants. While we shall fight on to the last man, Ashdod shall soon take over all that remains of the Emerald Empire while we hole up in our forts for a final stand. Our dying advice is to do what you can to stop them now.

Thought I would give a last advice on dealing with Ashdod sacreds. Destruction or sulfur haze or even better iron bane + tribals preferably those wielding two daggers and giant strengthed. Three tribals = 21 gold, should kill one big bad sacred in one round. 16x2x3 damage against maybe 2 natural protection. :)

Unfortunately those spells weren't available to Pyth but just looking at the battle again - ~25 anakites and 20 indies/edomites might have been tough regardless. Even berserking, defense is 15 as they have an Att+2/Def+2 bless along with regnerating 3HP round (5% regen) and +4 reinvig. Most have one or more stars from whomping on indies so typical non berserking is Att 15 / Def 18 - not easy to hit. Communion boosted Word of Power / Smites / Thunderstrikes was effective versus smaller groups, but I didn't have enough men (~75 principes) to hold them off this time.

PS I see from some of the home garrison on some of his units that Ashdod took out Patala and controls their capital. No wonder Patala exited so quickly this game.

Thanks Don C! I never thought to use the battle review's garrision status lines as a scouting tool. I'll go back to lurking now.

Pattala IS Ashdod's capital. And no, this is MA game, Patala is not in the game. :)

And the spell is rust mist, not sulphur haze. Anyway, destruction gets rid of armor and shield, so defense is now way down as well.

Yeah, I'm killing Pythium. I've been fighting him and Japan. Japan kicked my ***, but now seems willing to leave it be without pressing the fight. Pythium rolled over and played dead except for a little bit when I moved too much of my resources to dealing with Japan. Abyssia also has been keeping a huge (400+) army on my border for a turn or three but he hasn't attacked me, so I hope that army is just for dealing with the monkeys he's been fighting. And I border China too, who the graphs say is absolutely kicking ***, but I can't afford to fight him too, and besides the territory around there is too hard to march my armies through.

Pythium:
For fighting my guys, I thought your tactics were reasonably effective. A few more soldiers would have helped, more communioned (or banner-of-the-northern-starred) S1s casting paralyze would have helped, I just had more gold to pour in to the armies that you did, especially since I dragged your income down a bit (when did communions start working decently? last time I tried communion strats, 4 masters with 32 reinvig 11 slaves killed all the slaves from excessive fatigue in about 12 turns of casting... though that was like version 3.07 or thereabouts...)
And that Bogus attack on your 2nd keep the same turn I attacked you was seriously bad luck. I don't know what it cost you to get rid of him.

Re: Origin - new MA CBM game (Full... started)

Bogus was very painful indeed since that fort was resource rich and I really needed more men to hold the line in our fights. Bogus shut me down right when i needed men the most (how much did you bribe him to attack simultaneous with your invasion? :) )

Pyth didn't really play dead. We took back what we could and then its just detrimental to have to use one's entire force of mages to counterattack since we need to keep up on research (Destruction would have been nice to get, Banner of NS would be nice too - difficult research makes all this tough though). My few Hydras got ripped to shreds - that was impressive.

Anyway, after we took back all the provinces you took, we hoped to force a standoff at that bottleneck province. Sadly I had just built a lab and found a magic site, when you overran me before I could get reinforcements - never even got to see what the magic province was.

Anyway, I always enjoy fighting and trying things out. Looks like we'll be overrun now but Pyth will fight to the end and see if we can do some damage on our way out. Maybe the new Jomon will take note of your words and renew the attack. Sounds like konming had some effective strategies for fightng Ashdod

Yeah, that is an elephant-killing army and so far it has done its job nicely. So I wouldn't worry about it...
