Re: CCCP vs NATO long campaign (1948-1991)

Hi,

Turn 1-14:

First contact turn 3!

Few USA RECCE units appeared.

http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...PT309-1949.jpg

Soviet RECCE plane didnt find anything usefull until now but activate everytime an heavy AA system.

Our 82mm mortars will start fire soon at the small village.

First USA combat units turn 10!

http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...T1009-1949.jpg

Many M4A3E8 appeared on the top of the hill. The IS-3 easily destroy them without major casulties; only 1 tank is imobilised.

Soviet artillery non stop firing enemy forces.

Il-10s are called against USA mortars.

Unfortunatly, things begin to be more dificult; 2 tanks (IS-3 and PT-34/85) are lost.

Soviet soldiers take defensive positions to stop USA forces.

Thank you!

Hi,

Turn 15-35:

Several US tanks were destroyed but the infantry still coming.

Quickly, Soviet tanks have more ammunition and must reach an ammunition truck few hundred meters behind.

Soviet soldiers courageously keep the front.

http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...T2009-1949.jpg

No enemy appeared to be present in south.

The Soviet reserve platoon, supported by a section of recconnaissance, heads to the central hill.

Hill has quickly conquered.

US reserves (1 M46 Patton tank platoon) is discovered.

http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...T2509-1949.jpg

Hopefully, our tanks are ready.

Despite the AA shield, our Il-10s, not without few damages, have neutralized the US artillery.

That battle will end soon I think...

Thank you!

Hi,

Turn 36 - end:

After the destruction of the US tank platoon, everything is almost finish.

Few enemy units are encountered and easily defeated.

The battle is won in 40 turns!

http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...CPF09-1949.jpg

http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...PSC09-1949.jpg

The battle was like the others against the US. No good strategies, no coordination.

However, soviet forces have lost few tanks; our first IS-3 by a bazooka. US tanks, even the most modern (M46) are harmlees against a frontal assault of our IS-3s. US personal AT weapons did more casaulties everytime.

US reserve forces (M46) were not well used, as everything. These 4 tanks could have make a big difference.

This time, the AA cover was good; our Il-10s had some dificulties to do their job.

Thank you!

Hi!

Great AAR, everytime a good read!

One question:
Do you increase the number of turns before all your battles?

90 turns seems a lot for the size of the battles.

NATO armies are so horribly outgunned in this time period its not even funny.

You mention having air strikes for the soviets,never hear of any air for the allies though,surely they would have something also:confused:

Hi,

@Kareil:
Thank you. Yes, I change the map and the number of turns. 90 turns allow many turns arounds.

@Aeraaa:
Your right. But French and British are a little bit better. They are a little bit less suicidal.

@Brummbar:
Thank you.

@Gila:
I agree with you. Never seen something from NATO in the sky. Strange because they can; they, like soviets, have air sorties.

I received my CD version! Yoohoo! I will patch it and will be ready for the next one! :)

Thank you!

The CD-version is great - the bigger resolution alone is worth the money! :)

Maybe you should think about not changing the number of turns to get little bit more challenge. ;)

I find it a lot more interesting and challenging if I have to use the suggested number of turns. Then there is more pressure for a swift advance and more chance for the AI to ambush... :D
