Na - turning off is pointless. We have QH, so lets make use of it: We turn to 72h QH and everything should be fine, even over the weekend.

and your right blue. I meant the same thing with "turn the time off", I was just thinking leave quick host on with no set time, so whenever everyone got their turns in.

Re: A Brief Pause

Yeah, I staled. I made a miscalculation about when the next turn was going up. Valentine's Day clouded my judgement.

Alas.

In other news, I really hope Caelum and Mictlan aren't conspiring together. That would just be annoying, though predictable. My only solace is that Mictlan's provinces are deliciously dwindling!

The Black Annis will fight to the end!

PS - That hat comment from before was priceless.

Re: A Brief Pause

he staled, but you don't hear me complaining.

Tom, since you can't get on, I'll let you know how it went, I broke your siege, with a loss of 1 magus, about 18 out of 43 spirit demons, and about 11/26 infantry/horsemen

you lost all but 5 javelineers, 2 gyjas, and 3 shaman (all your nifels and jarls died. sorry)

heck i'll even be nice enough to let you know I used about 8 magus communion master/slaved to counter you magic duel strategy. your duelists suicided, basically.

LOL I think a lot of words could be used. Nice wouldn't be among them though =)

Bluebird February 21st, 2006 07:24 AM

Re: A Brief Pause

I did not sub Tom as in the other games, as I was involved in this one and thought it unfair to play two parties. IH had the password, but looks like he didn't find a sub. Well, one turn of stale should not ruin a full game ...

archaeolept February 21st, 2006 09:50 AM

Re: A Brief Pause

see wish - that's interesting. it has been claimed that communion does not help in magic duels, but i've remained dubious - how many duel attacks did he make, against what, and none were succesful? if you don't mind providing the specifics...

Wish February 21st, 2006 11:16 AM

Re: A Brief Pause

one was succesful, a tie actually, so they both died, she killed 2 astral magi in one shot - i guess I had them standing to close to eachother, all of them actually only master'd at the time. The slave spell came too late, so I guess it was luck of the draw.

I ran tests in a side game with 1 celestial master vs a number of communioned shaman. Once there where 8 shaman they seemed to be able to kill him more often, so I think the communion does play a factor on comparitive astral levels. but I could be wrong.

Since he was the one magic dueling, the best defence i could think of was a wall of astral mages, equally communioned - which is easier to research in a pinch than magic duel is.

Looking closer at the scales, Jotuns situation has been explained, but it looks like Citis took a major it as well.

At your service... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
9 commanders, 329 regular units, and 8 magic beings stormed a C'tissian castle. Half of them died, including the red dragon, and the rest ran away. Alas for them, they had nowhere to run!
It was a good fight, though... I lost over 100 undead in the battle, many of them horsemen. I hope Shovah's happy.

Folket February 21st, 2006 03:44 PM

Re: A Brief Pause

Well, it was a suicide run. With Ermor and Abysia carving up my land I tryed to at least hurt someone before I went down.

Ygorl February 21st, 2006 03:58 PM

Re: A Brief Pause

If this battle had gone the other way, C'tis would pretty clearly have been a goner. I guess Ermor and Abysia would have finished you soon after, though? As it is, it will be tough for C'tis to make a difference, surrounded by big powerful neighbors...
Anyway, again, well-fought. I'm glad your wyrm and my wyrm are on good terms in COW. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

More to the point I did not look for a sub. I am hosting these games but that does not make me responsible for every players turn in every game, you know? If someone doesnt think ahead and get themselves a sub then they just stale and thats the way of things. I'm not trying to be a hardass here, I just other demands on my time and you have to draw the line somewhere.

archaeolept February 21st, 2006 05:51 PM

Re: A Brief Pause

well, i believe it was unforseen circumstances, not something tom could have planned for - nevertheless, it needs to be clear that you have nothing to do w/ finding subs.

Re: A Brief Pause

Quick poll, do you guys like sending and recieving PMs in character or out?

P.S. Word is Cast is out for the whole week. Can he be reached by e-mail? We might want to try and find a sub for him.

TheWatcher February 21st, 2006 08:12 PM

Re: A Brief Pause

He's at a cottage, so I doubt any of us can get in touch with him. I prefer using IRC to negotiate more than anything else, since out of game PMs are unreliable and in-game PMs are so slow.

In other news, I'm sad to see Ulm go down. Hopefully, they'll spend more time being diplomatic next game.

OG_Gleep February 21st, 2006 08:21 PM

Re: A Brief Pause

I personally have found the PMs here to be quite effective, and you have a record of your conversation. But the question was more geared towards content rather than method. Do you like communicating as some sort of actual member of your realm (God/King/Diplomat etc.) or as the addicted Dom II player you really are?

Thats too bad. I don't think he has a sub in either game does he?

Wish February 21st, 2006 08:38 PM

Re: A Brief Pause

Ulm practiced zero diplomacy this game. You can all see the results of no diplomacy.

Castigated got himself a sub before leaving. dont worry about that.

right now i prefer a mix on IC/OOC in the PMs, usually in the same style Im responding to.

Re: A Brief Pause

Actually he did a little diplomacy, with me. Unfortunatley it ment war, but it was fun back and forth.

Bluebird February 22nd, 2006 11:53 AM

Re: A Brief Pause

I just received the following mail from Tom Scudder:

<font class="small">Code:</font><hr /><pre>Argh. Laptop has been downgraded from "fried" to "would you like me to set up
your internal hard disk as an external drive for your new computer?" It's
going to take another week or so to get the new machine - you'd better just
find permanent replacements for me (or AI me) in my games.</pre><hr />

I know that Ironhawk has his password, so if you want to join in for Jotunheim, please mail Ironhawk for the password (you can reference to this posting if you want).

Re: Anti-Marignon Alliance

Marignon is out of control, and growing more powerful each turn. It is time for the smaller nations (which is about everyone else) to team up against him. Otherwise, you could be next!
