Re: The Great War

i still miss tien chis turn, i want to host today, so it would be nice if you could send it.

Re: The Great War

ouch, master enslave hurts.

Has someone still things that might be able to hurt ermor?

btw. do i get it right, that in the lategame armies just are for decoration?

calmon April 10th, 2007 06:55 PM

Re: The Great War

Well no, armies aren't just decoration, but armies have lost the domination of the early game.

I was just lucky enough to foreseen your attack to bring up this enslaver.

Ulm is still far away of being defeated and this turn several of my titans KIA.

Agarthas attack several turns ago weakens my western lands and interfere my reinforcement to the south.

I can't count the undeads died from firestorms.

Re: The Great War

While my part of the war with Ermor hasnt been a complete rout, I'm still losing. If the others are also losing, I'll jump in with the "declare Ermor the winner" petition, especially since I'm a little pressed for time to continue playing.

PS: nerf disintegrate!

Sandman April 11th, 2007 08:51 AM

Re: The Great War

I'm all for declaring Ermor the winner. Possibly we should have been more lax with the victory points, I don't think anyone came close to a teleport win.

Good game nonetheless.

Amhazair April 11th, 2007 01:16 PM

Re: The Great War

As Calmon said, I had a very nice win this turn, smashing an oposing army with 6? opposition Tartarians/royals taken out, with no losses on my side. (And those firestorms are quite nice too... take a look at the hall of fame if you feel like it http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif )

Unfortunately the strategic situation hasn't changed much: I'm loosing several provinces each turn to ghost riders and massed undead armies, and I can't defend everywhere at once. Let alone counterattack. I'm still having great fun trying to be as tough a nut to crack as I can be, but I don't have any real hope for victory.

Hadrian_II April 11th, 2007 02:50 PM

Re: The Great War

I'd say we wont declare Ermor Victor until Ulm is beaten.

btw. somehow i feel the urge to create a mod that softens up the big clubs that are in the game now. It just does not feel right to create a big army, and then loose one half to a firestorm, and the other half becoming slaves.

calmon April 11th, 2007 06:44 PM

Re: The Great War

My biggest problem is that the micromanagement increase with every single province. In moment a turn needs 4-8 hours, maybe more to plan.

I've no problem to continue this game if you want but i would need another 24 hours to our hosting frequence making it a 96 hour game.

Amhazair April 12th, 2007 12:09 PM

Re: The Great War

I can simpathyze with Calmon. If I see what it takes me to play my turn, and then think he has twice my number of provinces, is fighting on about a dozen fronts against 4 nations, and has to manage all the undead he raises everywhere...

I totally understand why he'd want more time.

Hadrian_II April 12th, 2007 12:25 PM

Re: The Great War

I will host when i have all the turns, i dont think that now is the time to create useless stress on the players. (but it would be nice if they arrive not too late)

Zrave April 14th, 2007 08:26 AM

Re: The Great War

I lost all of my relevant armies, and will be wiped out in 2 or 3 turns, so I'm going computer controlled.

GG all.

Re: The Great War

I've also set T'ien Ch'i to AI. It's still in a vaguely defendable position, but with other games and real life stuff, I simply don't have the time to keep up with this game.

It was fun beating R'lyeh underwater, but it was costly in gems, leading to a gem crunch in the late-middle game. Using Celestial Masters to search gave me a good gem lead in the early-middle game, but by the end, I was lagging behind Ulm with its rainbow pretender and Ermor with its vast territory. I blew a lot of my astral and nature income on fruitless ashkic records, dispels and globals.

Forge of the Ancients kept me in contention for a while longer, but it couldn't help my lack of money; whilst Ulm and Ermor were throwing up temples and forts all over the place, T'ien Ch'i could barely manage to recruit enough mages.

I've nearly finished my turn and it will be send in 3 hours.

Edit: Turn sent.

Re: Faerun MA PBEM (started)

Next turn underway.

I am still in the game, but i dont to lots of micromanagement any more, im just trying to bring my last armies to battle and let them fight until ermor enslaves them. Most of my economy is now used to supply ulm.

Re: Faerun MA PBEM (started)

My next turn will be in on wednesday evening.

I've some project work to do in moment and i'm very happy about this relaxing turn frequency! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Oh, nice...

I've had an unexpectedly busy weekend, and was feeling slightly bad for delaying the turn because of that, but apparently it's all YOUR fault we're delaying. I blame YOU, calmon, and only YOU! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

I'm industrious, punctual, and innocent! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

*** Disclaimer ***

The following reaction is waaay too late, for which you have my apologies. I blame the fact that I managed to take on too many games, expecting to be eliminated in some, and not quite realising how long playing one turn would last once endgame was reached, so I have been struggling to actually play all my turns, let alone conduct diplomacy in a proper fashion, or contributing to the respective game threads. Anyhooow:

*** End of Disclaimer ***

In the name of Ulm, humanity and the world as a whole, I wish to thank the nations of Man, T'ien Chi, and Agartha for their brave attempt to support us in the deperate struggle for survival against the vileness that is Ermor. First offering the blood of your sons and daughters on the plains of battle, and then, when that proved futile, by sending invaluable supplies of war to our embattled nation.

After the disintegration of our empire under the relentless undead onslaught, (ooc: for those with little scouts in our area: I've been reduced to a mere 15 provinces, plus 8 besieged fortresses) your much appreciated contribution is the only thing that still keeps us going. Alas, even with that help, the situation is bleak, very bleak. But with your support we managed to outfit an unstopable army, and we'll show the generations to come what it means to back Ulm into a corner! We will put up a resistance that Ermor will never forget! (ooc: after a private message to Calmon asking him if he was still enjoying the game - which he apparently is - else I would have been willing to write a nice declaration of surrender here. But since he's still having fun, I'll bleed him as much as I still can)

With much appreciation for your effort,

Ulfrida, Lady of the Rock.

Re: Faerun MA PBEM (started)

As we said before, R'lyeh supports Ermor. Tien Chi robbed us of our future, and we repaid in kind as best we could. Do the ashes taste bitter? Oh yes, we forget, there is no one left to answer.

Re: Faerun MA PBEM (started)

next turn is out and it looks like ermor is trying to finish it i saw tartarians attack most the VPs in the game but it looks like it will take one or two turns more.

calmon, how much VPs do you have? 29?? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

calmon April 25th, 2007 07:52 PM

Re: Faerun MA PBEM (started)

Yep, exactly 29! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

This Hell Keep in 380 was too hard for my 2 titans. I lost some more battles in T'ien Ch'i (VP) territory and one of the agartha points was to well defended.

I'll try to do my next turn within the next 3 days. I want to storm some VP castles very soon! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

My turn is ready in about 1 hour.

Edit: sent

Hmmm, sorry again. Doing it right now.

Ermor Wins

Now, after 74 turns Calmon has finally won the game. Congratulations.

I think in this game i learned the basics of the game, and does no longer have to call myself a noob http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif.

has someone found some bugs in the map? As im thinking about a new game in faerun (i fixed northern thay, removed the troops on non VPs[almost], removed the hydras in a mixed VP and nerfed the hellgate keep a bit)

Congratulations, calmon!

Re: Ermor Wins

Indeed, congratulations on a nice win, Calmon, you sure thought me a thing or two in this game. (I will remember them though! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/mad.gif ), and totally overpowered me in our war, despite my best efforts.

(our) God is Dead, All Hail The Pantokrator!

calmon May 3rd, 2007 02:32 PM

Re: Ermor Wins

Thanks guys! This game was a lot of fun and i had so much big battles that i can't count them all.

The ermor nation will remember the ancient ulmish smiths and warriors which kills many of our brave soldiers. You Amhazair brough up this rather weak nation to a stronghold in the world of Faerun!

A big praise to Hadrian II who host this game perfectly!

I ended up with 36 VPs. With tartarians and others the VPs sites weren't such a big problem.
The hellgate keep shouldn't be nerfed much in my eyes. It has 4 sites including the 60% blood magic site "Summoning Circle" which is really usefull for every blood nation.

I hope i meet you all again in another world of dominions III!
