I have the mega-age v2 downloaded and enabled (says so in the preferences screen)
I have the evermore .map and .tga file directly in my maps folder
(I also have played the first 2 turns without problems)

NOW
I click on network
I click connect to a dominions server
I enter 67.66.187.69 and OK
I enter either 10020 (this was the old one) OR 9945
and
in a milisecond, no processing time or what
MY SCREEN is totally RED
BRIGHT red --> with a black mouse cursor that I can move.
and nothing anymore

hi

due to aezeal's problems connecting, i've taken over the lovable nation of shimuyama for the time-being at least. Hopefully Aezeal will come back, or I will be able to find a permanent sub later.

Failing that, please oh nameless lord let me be crushed before the endgame.

Anyone else having trouble connecting tonight? I've tried twice and my PC just hangs with the perpetual message "Waiting for game info." Then I have to shut down the computer. Previously, the info has come basically instantaneously. I've carefully checked the ip and port. The problem doesn't appear to be there.

I see from the status page that several people have been able to take their turns.

It took me a couple tries to get past the:"Waiting for Game info" message last night, but I was able to get in and get my turn done.

I finally got in. Do you guys think it's because too many people are trying to get their turns at once? If that's the case, then I just always had great luck up to this point.

Well, the unthinkable has happened. The superpower MA R'lyeh has just about been trashed by... MA Atlantis. Wow.

That was a masterful attack the last few turns, btw, Baalz. You only lost one fairly useless Ancient Kraken (after you take all the indies with it, it really just lays around and eats a lot), and took like 4 provinces as well as sacking my capitol for a turn.

Anyway, R'lyeh may be out of it in a few turns (I can hear all the cheers in the background already), or, I may pull off a masterful counter-attack of my own. We shall see.

Some advice - if I thought you were more survivable, I wouldn't have attacked you. As it was, I saw it as a choice between conquering you or giving your territories to Lanka.

Well, that's a no-brainer, obviously I'm going to conquer you myself.

To survive the early game as Pythium you more or less need a supercombatant God, especially on a crowded map with slow research.

I do understand, and I see how a SC would have kept me alive long enough to be effectivly but I had more chance of survival against the monkeydemons than the shadow vestals. I've beaten them before, but never early game blessed vestals, without aformentioned SC.

I dont see how some principes would be able to beat palankashas, principes tire as fast as palankashar regenerate their wounds.

well, hopefully he'd have more principes than lanka would have palankashas...

Hadrian_II October 25th, 2007 03:19 PM

Re: Evermore - MegaGame - Started

principes need lots of ressources, so the ratio would be somewhere between 1:2 and 1:3 what would not pose any real trouble for the palankashas.

Re: Evermore - MegaGame - Started

Pankasha do not have a very high magic resistance.

A communion, spamming Banishment (or destroy demon!) can, if not win, at the least do horrendous damage to a Lankan army.

My Shadow Vestals are MR 18.

Banish is aoe 4 and 5AN damage, am i correct that the aoe increases by one per additional priest level, but how high would the damage increase?

DrPraetorious October 26th, 2007 08:52 AM

Re: Evermore - MegaGame - Started

Banish does 3 + 2 /level, area 2 + 2 / level.

Thus, archtheurgs spamming banish with four commuion slaves do:
holy 5 -> avg 11 pts each, at +2 penetration.

Against an MR 13 unit like a typical rakshasa, 38% under the template get hit each turn. Alternatively, they can smite a single demon for 25 pts.

Against an astral-bless vestal, you only hit 11% of the vestals under the template - and each shadow vestal *still* gets to negate the first hit. That's a lot better than nothing but it's not going to save you.

Now, if you're smart and only use the blackfaces instead of the demons, Pythium is in a lot of trouble. But even those guys you can't recruit 10+/turn like I can with shadow vestals. I still think he would've been screwed.

Xietor October 26th, 2007 10:53 AM

Re: Evermore - MegaGame - Started

Palankashas have mr 12, 30 hps, AND should regenerate as one of their double 9 blesses.

If you rely on banish you are doomed. Lanka is a beast early.
That is why any race that can neutralize them is doing the world public service and should be richly rewarded by the other nations.

If you know them better, you will see that lanka is acually a nation of peaceful art-loving demons, and noone benefits from their destruction.

We agreed to a peace treaty for 10 turns. After 10 turns, I attacked you.

I would also point out that, the turn after we agreed to our treaty, you sent me a message where you "laid claim" to three of my border provinces. Perhaps you were hoping that I would give you the provinces, since at the time I was in a pitched war against LA Marignon. In any case, since then I have been counting down the turns till our treaty expired.

Sensori October 27th, 2007 09:08 PM

Re: Evermore - MegaGame - Started

I'm guessing coobe there was thinking about a NAP with a 10 turn notification period rather than one that was just 10 turns long, while you were thinking that it was 10 turns altogether.

Weird mistake, maybe.

AdmiralZhao October 27th, 2007 09:11 PM

Re: Evermore - MegaGame - Started

I don't think it was a misunderstanding. A couple of turns back, Coobe sent a message asking for an extension of the treaty.

The evil monkey people of EA Lanka have set flame to the forests of Pangea. We ride to meet them in battle. Know that if we fall, they will add a third empire to their growing strength. If their neighbors do not wish to see the whole of the world awash in foul, demonic, MONKEY MAGIC then they should join us in war against Lanka, until not a single castle is left standing.

Utilitarian philosophy: we should believe that which it is useful to believe, and disregard that which is not useful to believe.

LA Mictlan is huge, powerful and *extremely* agressive. I can admit it, I'm a bit jealous.

Therefore, it is useful for us all to believe that he is some kind of unholy crossbreed of snake and weasel, hellbent on ravishing our women (have I been watching too much anime? It is useless to believe such a thing.)

Since it is useful to believe this of him, we should agree that it is true.

AdmiralZhao October 28th, 2007 01:47 AM

Re: Evermore - MegaGame - Started

If I may, I would like to rebut the charges that Dr. Praetorious brings against the Mictlani people:

*places a suspiciously large turkey in front of the crowd*

Stare deeply into the turkey's eyes. Now, repeat after me... Mictlan is your friend, you have nothing to fear from Mictlan. The people of Mictlan are peaceful, you do not need to guard your borders with them. Only authorized Mictlan priests can supply you with Mictlan Brand Bottled Water(TM). Without Mictlan Bottled Water, you will be unhappy and ostracized by your peer group.

*claps hands*

Ok, now lets all go out to the forum lobby and get ourselves some snacks! Who's thirsty?

Pangaea will be the first empire of hypocrites we will show the true meaning of mankind. And dont follow his propaganda, as we are able to defend ourselves without problems, even while subduing the horses of the east.

On the subject of the Great Enemy:

He has triple-blessed jaguar warriors (F9W9S9, in the face).
He uses them well and very agressively.
He threatens his neighbors with invasion if they don't start wars with one another - then, while they're busy fighting it out, he invades them anyway.

While I did play one turn for Lanka while Hadrian was away, and am thus slightly favorably inclined in favor of the monkey-demons in this conflict, I do take serious objection to calling centaurs, magnificent creatures as they are, horses. I played a centaur once during a long-running roleplay campaign, and thus feel rather strongly on the subject. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Hadrian, if you want me to ever sub for you again in this game, you'll have to appologise to the centaurs right now. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif

Oh, and MA Mictlan lives in province 177. Unlike me and Lanka, he cannot just reanimate some patrollers when you blitz his capital.

SO - cover it with hurricanes, ill portents, or other such hoopla! It won't much hamper his military, but it will prevent him recruiting his only decent mages, which are capital only.
