I mentionned the art package I'm using lower in this thread, scroll down or back a few pages and you will have the answer to that question.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Yep I saw that, just wanted to know if it was one of those expensive commercial packages, I am looking for a good drawing program with a spraypaint tool to do heightfields in PoV. I don't want to pay much for a minor tool to use in a free program.
For anyone else interested the program that David is running (artgem) is shareware and available here: ArtGem Home

Well, I am taking this weekend off but I'll be back on monday to have some more fun with the avatars.

FYI: The Avatar Emporium has been brought up to date and is a quick way to view all the avatars I've created during the past week.

Hats Off and Thanks to Geoschmo for hosting the Emporium.

Have a Great Weekend, Cheers!

Could you make me an avatar?

Specifications:
The avatar has a pale face which has never seen the light of day, his eyes narrow angrely as he looks at you. His hair and irises appear to be flowing lava. As you look closer you notice that he has no eyebrows just empty palid skin. Add the polished effect except have a dark rather than light spot.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">When you say typed in the URL you mean in the avatar selection box that comes up when you go to your profile? If so then did you remember to push the button that says "Select this avatar" (or something like that) which is located in the top left corner under the picture of the avatar you uploaded. <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Ok, to go "My profile". Then go to "View/Update profile" Scroll down to where your current avatar is. Then click the button by it that says: "Select a different avatar image" a new window will open. On the bottom of that window it has a URL text field area. It also says "Use custom avatar" then the button says "Set URL" put the URL of your new avatar image into that URL field. Then push the "Set URL" button. Up in the top left of that window it should show a image of your new avatar indicating that's the one you have selected to use. Now, push the button that says "Select this avatar". That should be it, you should have a new avatar. Post a new message and boom it's there. Hope that helps you out!

Hi again.
When you get time (i e 4 minutes free, We're talking about YOU!) and are running out of requests.
Could you do me an alternate (So I can switch everynowandthen)?

I was thinking of two:
First a small smooth white dragon, no scales or fangs, a bit cuddly.
Second: My owl with a santa hat, for the holiday season!

Gif and jpeg work. Png might. I don't know about bmp, but those are large, and would cause excessive page loading times for those on dialup modems.

Re: OT: The House of 1001+ Avatars

A combination of Ruatha's Last comment and DavidG's avatar makes me want to find a pic for an alternate avatar.

First, I would love to have a Christmas'sy hat on my avatar for the holidays! Second, I have a find a "Spaceman Spiff" pic to be Gervais-ized and turned into a good avatar pic.

David E. Gervais December 16th, 2002 02:12 AM

Re: OT: The House of 1001+ Avatars

First, I know for a fact that bmp's do NOT work for avatar pics.

Second, I don't mind doing a custom alternate pic now and then, but I would aprieciate it if you would consider adopting one of my many 'unused' avatar pics for your alternate. (after all, we are talking about a pic that will only get used on occasion as opposed to your main Avatar! Right?)

Cheers!

The GIF preview is only the minis in order to keep the size down.

It would be pointless to include extra minis without the protraits to back them up, since the game would give a horde of "image not found" errors.

And, I would be more than happy to include some of your planets (and any other miscellaneous sector-sized objects) in the planetpack.

SJ, can you save me a bit of research? What are the sizes (WxH) for the minis and portraits of the planets? Once I know I'll make the necessary adjustments!

Thanks in advance. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
