David, I hope you don't mind me using this avatar.
I feel somehow emotionally attached to it. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif |

You may be interested in the GIMP (www.gimp.org). Freeware, easy to use, nice features/plugins.

Well, I am taking this weekend off but I'll be back on monday to have some more fun with the avatars.
FYI: The Avatar Emporium has been brought up to date and is a quick way to view all the avatars I've created during the past week. Hats Off and Thanks to Geoschmo for hosting the Emporium. Have a Great Weekend, Cheers! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif |

Re: OT: The House of 1001+ Avatars
I've updated my avatar.
|
Re: OT: The House of 1001+ Avatars
Could you make me an avatar?
Specifications: The avatar has a pale face which has never seen the light of day, his eyes narrow angrely as he looks at you. His hair and irises appear to be flowing lava. As you look closer you notice that he has no eyebrows just empty palid skin. Add the polished effect except have a dark rather than light spot. How many people think this guy can pull it off? |
Re: OT: The House of 1001+ Avatars
Come to think of it, lay off on the special effects for now(animation, polish, ect.) I have a good program to make them!
|
Re: OT: The House of 1001+ Avatars
David, the Imagemod thread is HERE (link).
Planets, Components, Facilities, and Combat (Weapon Animations) are accepted. I can give a tutorial on how SE4 uses the pixels for the combat animation if nessesary. |
Re: OT: The House of 1001+ Avatars
Dave: thanks, but it doesnt have the feel my Taera images have to me... hmm.. didnt make any sense did it... anyway, i'll just model a santa-hat...

The reason I mentionned the larger ones I have is because in the game you need the two Versions. The small one in the 'planets.bmp' and a larger one to display in the top right 'planet info/detail' window! Nuf said! Cheers! |

Sweet!
just have to add final touches So far I have: Ignited hair, shattered glass with hair heat, warmed frame till it turned red, added animated eye glow, made lips match hair, and begun to make 5% obsidain glass cover. For some reason the first pics didn't look very evil. don't know why |

Re: OT: The House of 1001+ Avatars
Hi again.
When you get time (i e 4 minutes free, We're talking about YOU!) and are running out of requests. Could you do me an alternate (So I can switch everynowandthen)? I was thinking of two: First a small smooth white dragon, no scales or fangs, a bit cuddly. Second: My owl with a santa hat, for the holiday season! |
Re: OT: The House of 1001+ Avatars
Does anyone know the file formats accepted for avatars? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/confused.gif
|
Re: OT: The House of 1001+ Avatars
Gif and jpeg work. Png might. I don't know about bmp, but those are large, and would cause excessive page loading times for those on dialup modems.
|
Re: OT: The House of 1001+ Avatars
A combination of Ruatha's Last comment and DavidG's avatar makes me want to find a pic for an alternate avatar.
First, I would love to have a Christmas'sy hat on my avatar for the holidays! Second, I have a find a "Spaceman Spiff" pic to be Gervais-ized and turned into a good avatar pic. |
Re: OT: The House of 1001+ Avatars
First, I know for a fact that bmp's do NOT work for avatar pics.
Second, I don't mind doing a custom alternate pic now and then, but I would aprieciate it if you would consider adopting one of my many 'unused' avatar pics for your alternate. (after all, we are talking about a pic that will only get used on occasion as opposed to your main Avatar! Right?) Cheers! |
Re: OT: The House of 1001+ Avatars
Oh, another thing,.. If you have/find any pic that you would like me to try converting into an Avatar, you can send it to me via e-mail (see my profile for the address, and Just make sure that the word 'Avatar' is somewhere in the subject heading) or if you have a link to it on the net, just post the link here.
Ok? Cheers, again! |
Re: OT: The House of 1001+ Avatars
Ruatha,.. partly because you made the request and partly because your current 'custom' Avatar might be mistaken for one of my 'generic' animal avatars,.. I created this new Avatar for you. One thing is for sure, there will be no mistaking this one with any of the 'generic' ones. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
1039998137.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/newup...1039998137.gif I think he looks 'cuddly' don't you? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif I hope you like it. Cheers! |

Does this avatar pic suit your fancy? ..As for the 'dark spot instead of a light spot'.. ALL my avatars have a protective glass over them and thus have a reflective flair in the upper left corner. (sometimes in the upper right) ..but rest assured, I did place a 'dark' highlight underneath the reflection! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif I hope you like it, and fyi: I'm not gonna do any retouches or animations with this one. (I did however give you two Versions to choose from.) Cheers! |

The GIF preview is only the minis in order to keep the size down. It would be pointless to include extra minis without the protraits to back them up, since the game would give a horde of "image not found" errors. And, I would be more than happy to include some of your planets (and any other miscellaneous sector-sized objects) in the planetpack. [ December 16, 2002, 00:49: Message edited by: Suicide Junkie ] |
