<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Here is a repost of a message where I explained how to do it..

First click on the link to the pic you want (back a few pages in the forum) Then in the new window that opens click in the address window at the top of the page and highlight the URL.. press ctrl-c to copy the url to memory,.. then close the window to go back to this forum.. click on the 'my profile' link next to the intel forums logo (top right) on you profile page, click on 'view/update' profile.. near the bottom of the profile page is an option to choose a new avatar pic. somewhere on the next screen is a place for the url, click in the box and press ctrl-v to paste the link in, choose select this url or some such and voila, Oh and don't forget to select 'update profile' at the bottom of the page before you leave.

In the above example the URL you want to paste is..

Thank you very much for the choices, do you by any chance have any in black-n-white or like a antique look?

Perhaps not the place, but if I wanted to make my own avatar and if I could, where could I find the specifics (two searches I did turned up nothing useful) and are they stored "here" when completed?

(tks in advance)

Hello David, I would like you to make better Version of my avatar like you did with tons of other avatars but without polish please, here is the avatar. oh and could you send me a private message to tell me when it'll be ready. No need to hurry, i dont mind if i dont get it soon. You are doing a realy good job. I try to be a computer artist but my talent will never equals your's!

Thank you very much !
Justin

edit: and also if my calcules are well , to keep the same pixels at the same place and the character in the center, a line of 3 pixels should be removed from evry of the 4 sides.

Thank you
Justin

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">What specifics are you referring to? Size? The size has to be, IIRC, 48 by 48 pixels.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I dunno. I once made some decals for Mechwarrior mechs and they had to be certain dimensions, filetype of Targa, and total file size was limited to something like 3 or 6k.

So, I was just asking if there are any specifics like that. If it's an annimated gif, it can vary quite a bit in size. Also, the question I had about where it gets stored. Or uploaded. Any restritction on transparancey? Any naming conventions required? Is png allowed?

I did a search and didn't have much luck. The FAQ didn't discuss it. So, I thought I'd ask.

PS: What does IIRC mean?

IIRC = If I recall Correctly.

The shrapnel uploader doesn't allow PNG's, but does allow GIFs, BMPs and JPGs. The list is shown in the upload window.

PS: filesize limits are in the multi-megabyte range, since the uploader is used for shipsets and mods too.

A few pages back there was a link to a free GIF animator, I used it to make mine

Microsoft GIF animator

First you got to one of These Boards and click post reply. then on the left you will see a link to upload files, follow the steps and copy the link it gives you at the end. Then go into your profile and click the link to change your Avatar. in that link there is a space to put a URL to a custom avatar. Paste the link from the upload form, save the changes and you have your new Avatar. I hope I helped. If someone could explain it better you can try.
