We're doing quite enough butt-kicking already. It's the healing ourselves afterwards that we're having trouble with.

Meh. Monks can heal themselves, so meh. I can heal myself JUST fine. I think. Oh wait, that's next level...

So, what about the rest of the party? Your ability to heal twice your level for yourself (once you level up) doesn't do anything to help the rest of us, and depending on items for healing gets rather expensive after a while, especially for fast in-combat healing. If it's the idea of being purely a support character that's putting you off, keep in mind that clerics are pretty good at fighting too, especially with how many high ability scores you can get with 40 point buy. If you prefer the sorcerer's style of spellcasting (no advance preparation, but more limited selection), you could go Favored Soul (from Complete Divine) instead without losing much fighting ability and gaining more spells per day.

Fine, I'll have a cleric with a bastard sword that he uses to whap enemies with. Happy?

I'd like to propose a ban on the monk class... I do not want to see it in the game, ever. Even thri-kreen fighter is probably too much...

This is the ability point system we are using:

Player can spend up to 40 points to create a character using the following chart:

Ability = Cost
8 = 0 points
9 = 1 point
10 = 2 points
11 = 3 points
12 = 4 points
13 = 5 points
14 = 6 points
15 = 8 points
16 = 10 points
17 = 13 points
18 = 16 points

You can make a Sorcerer if you really want to, but having 3 of the 4 (5 if Rasorow rejoins) party members be focused arcane spellcasters is a bit much.

Ummmm... Douglas? How is a Ranger/Cleric an arcane caster ;-) I always thought I was divine :-)

Well, ok maybe touched by the Gods is more accurate..... ;-)

Hmmm.... (goes back and re-reads the post Douglas made)..... looks like I am touched by the Gods as I totally miss read the post... Sorry Douglas mis-read it.

I should point out that Friday-Sunday still isn't really good for me...

I already read the site. Just not the past adventures. Isn't 40 points a little high? On the char-gen I'm using, high-powered character are at 32 points.

Anyway, I vote that we keep monks. They cool. DM might need to make a restrictive code of honor on them, such as don't attack unarmed opponents, or something, and always use non-lethal damage when possible.

Re: Online D&D Gaming

IT seems that fri-sat is definitely out as things do depend on Fyron. I imagine starting earlier to accomodate Null is impossible. I don't have any experience with Monks, but I gather it would end up like Fyrons Thri-Keen who unleashes flurries with 4 arms that chew up opponents. The party does really require some clerical help. Fyron, you say Fri-Sat is out, but what other days are good?

Edit: before I go out, are we going to delay the next session till everyone can join, or go on tomorrow regardless?
