Re: status page?

its due to the server reset, pay no mind to it.

Re: status page?

The status page is a very nice feature, but it is by no means always 100% accurate. Like previously stated, it starts getting screwy if the server is reset.

Oh, there are Greater Otherness sized pants around, but it gets really tricky if you get to the Vastness.

Tell you what, since Windows users don't know (or rather have) teh magical "touch" command, I guess I'll add a touch/reset functionality to the status script itself.

I have found on mine that sometimes a player will connect and get their .trn file, then work it offline for a later upload. The problem is that the .2h updates when they grab their .trn

Ive had to touch -t 01010101 ea_rlyeh.2h (or whatever) to get the status page to read correctly.

I could tail -1 the game.log and read the connections line.
Er+ Mav+ Ti+ Ca+ Ct+ Ag+ Va+ Ni+ (Yom) Oc- Arc+
to see that Oceania hadnt actually uploaded actions. But thats more hassle then Im willing to do right now.

Not sure if that applies to your script but since Ive been in that boat I thought Id mention it.

Yes, I am aware of this. If a player connects, downloads his turn, then clicks to have a look at his turn before disconnecting first, then uses "Quit without saving", the server will update his *.2h file with the one he had before for whatever reason. If there are other players in the game with their turns pending then that player still shows as "turn pending", but if he was the last player to submit his turn and quickhosting was on, then the game even hosts and that player gets a stale turn. I think that's a bug.

I already have an option in the stats script to generate a pseudo-checksum file with the filesize of the *.2h files to determine if a player really did his turn or used what I described above. This takes care of that quirk.

Re: Pan\'s blather

Players can avoid updating the .2h file by:

- connecting
- entering the password
- watching the turn download
- exiting immediately

Then look at the turn and do your moves offline. This also helps avoid accidentally submitting your turn when you're not finished your moves. Don't reconnect to the server until all your moves are done and you're ready for the next turn, to avoid quickhosting with a partially completed turn.
