Re: intermediate results
Several have said they have all their old consoles and computers. How do you do it?
My better half is an obsessive/compulsive neat freak, whereas I am a gatherer (sounds good, doesn't it). It is a constant running battle, without a turn limit, between her wanting to toss all my stuff and my well rooted attachment to my veteran possessions. Just last night we had a discussion (her word, not mine) about my three old computers sitting in the basement. She caught me in a poor defensive position and I got trampled. I am open to viable (even semi-viable) advice, lies or excuses. |

I own 5 PC systems and more on the way. I tie the systems into the type of work I do which is also computer related. What may also work for you is say those systems are antiques and will be worth lots of money in the future, but you'll need to make sure they keep working. |
Re: intermediate results
She has trample you say? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
You solve it the way you solve it in-game: 1. Lots of archers! Bombard her with arguments until she tire. 2. Be bigger than she is. She can't trample you when you can look down upon her. Although this usually means that she will draw her sword instead, stabbing you where it really hurts. 3. Be agile! High defense means that you can avoid her arguments until she becomes fatigued. Watch out for life drain though as this will reinvigorate her! These creatures really excels at life drain so be vary. 4. Soulslay. Will probably just bounce off because they usually don't have a soul to slay. 5. Glamour. Pretend that you are the person she wants you to be. When she is happy with you she will go and torment some other poor creature and you are free to continue with your perversion. 6. Run away and hide for a while. My favorite choice actually! Caution! Try this at your own risk! Results may vary and you risk being cursed or horror marked for the rest of your life! |
I can go from the intense action of playing an assault kit in BF:1942 to a more thought-provoking game like Dom3 and in-between. I'm sure a lot of us here do so.
I used to be able to, then I discovered action-games make me too twitchy. Combining a nervous condition, age, and loud explosions doesn't work well, haven't played an action game since Doom 3. Even (timed) chess makes me twitchy. Dominion's pace works much better http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif |
Re: intermediate results
Not only does she have trample, she has a +4 trample, the bonus earned through experience, not an artifact or other artificial means. She must have a level 9 artifact that negates my size advantage, so the many times I tried that plan have proven it to be a sure loser. Also the arrow defense is not real practical either, the slightest pinprick triggers a berserk and a demon transformation.
I do like the antique arguement, so consider that idea stolen. I normally rely on agility, wits, selective deafness, fault memory claims, delaying tatics and toughness as my primary defense. Unfortunately, last night I was caught behind castle walls. When I got home from work I mowed the lawn, and because it was hot and humid I decided that I needed to replenish my body fluids. Then I thought to build up a reserve of fluids in case I encountered a future situation that might involve sweating (always looking out for my health). When the assault came the walls were comprised of 8 or 9 empty Coor's cans. They did not prove to be as stout a defensive barrier as you might think. There also seems to be some rule that was omitted in the manual that I am not allowed to retake provinces previously lost. It also appears that I am the only one that this rule applies to, probably a difficulty level handicap. (I should have gone for the easy level, not the impossible level.) The Dev's must have sent me a Beta manual, because there are all sorts of rules that arise that I never heard of previously. |
Re: intermediate results
The only possible solution to your conundrum is through the use of transformation, which will work best with the EA R'lyeh nation: You must turn yourself into a Slave Prince.

Re: intermediate results
I recommend upgrading to a computer-compatible wife. My lovely wife Lace came with GameFriendly™ installed. She has more computers than I do¹ and more games, too. Unfortunately, she won't play Dom3, because of all the micromanagement (Devs: this is why I keep asking for improvements. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif )
1: unless you count the house servers, which I keep running, as mine. BTW, I'm 38 and she's 36. |
