Re: Anyone Interested (Off Topic)
1. how do you scan your own base to see what it is capable of?
2. i have noticed some systems have statements at the top of the screen how do you put those there? |
Re: Anyone Interested (Off Topic)
Your base is just a way to store more money and to allow you to access your planets production from the PLANETS - CHANGE PRODUCTION window on the upper left hand side.
PLANETS lists all of your planets, and if they have a base, CHANGE PRODUCTION will show them and you can alter your production from that window on all of your planets at the sametime. Messages at the top of the system are created by using BEACONS in the DEVICE window. |

thanks.

Re: Anyone Interested (Off Topic)
Also, if you build 3 bases within a system, (one per planet) You gain control of that system and can set the system settings.

Re: Anyone Interested (Off Topic)
still trying to figure out how to scan planets defensive/offensive capabilities. spent some time scanning others planets and ships and have noticed that the planets have sheilds, fighter and torpedo launchers and beam weapons just like ships. how is this determined? is it based upon population?
edit: for those of you i scanned i am not hostile at this time. just trying to learn more about the game. [ February 11, 2003, 07:43: Message edited by: desdinova ] |
Re: Anyone Interested (Off Topic)
Your ability to scan is limited by the size of your scanner on your ship. (Ok, keep it clean)
You can have a trillion fighters and torpedo's on a planet. There is a formula for how production of fighters and torps are governed, but as far as I know there is no limit to how many a planet can have. NOW, fighters deployed as sector defense have to have ENERGY from the planets, or they will reduce in numbers over time. Scanning a planet is to determine whether or not your ship is capible of taking on that planet. For the most part, you will want a ship that has a huge beam, armor, shield and power setting. Pack in as many fighters and torps as you can, (30 + hull size is good) and you can take on just about any planet. That is unless you do what I did, and try to take one of the WebMasters. Big mistake. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif I spent 5k turns setting up my ship, and attacked one of his planets in sector 499, and was defeated soundly. (Restart) |
Re: Anyone Interested (Off Topic)
scanned webmasters. his ship alone would probably wipe out an entire fleet of star destroyers. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif
i understand the scanning part but how does the game determine if a planet has a beam value of say 30 torpedo launcher 15 sheilds 10 etc. do we have the ability to upgrade bases like we do with ships? also will ships and torps sitting on a planet deploy automatically when the planet is attacked? or do they need to be manually launched? edit: when i asked about scanning i understand scanning other peoples planets and ships. but how do i find out what my planets capabilities are? Re: Anyone Interested (Off Topic)
Bases can not be upgraded. They are static. They are designed to allow you to gain better control over your planet and system.
Yes, fighters and torps are launched automattically when your planet is attacked. I think the amount of fightes released is directly equal to the amount of energy the planet has. SO DO NOT RUN LOW. And remember if you have your planet set to ALL TRADE, someone could buy all your energy then attack your planet. I don't know about how to find out what our own planets are capitable of. I'll have to ask CNC. You can also email the games creater and ask him. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif (His name is rick something I think. I beleive there is a link to his email on every page.) [ February 11, 2003, 08:28: Message edited by: Atrocities ] |
