Huntsman - it looks like you staled, but it seems your armies did well anyways http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif - probably a slower turn over the weekend will be good for you.

Indeed. A moment of silence for the nation of Pythium...

Also, I think huntsman may have staled two times in a row? Things must be pretty crazy for him.

I staled last night--missed my turn by about 1 hour! My wife works on Wed nights from 7-10 at the local Y and I had the kids so I'd forgotten all about it.

Anyway, seems my unmoving armies kept Pan at bay but he still hit me with some paradrop-wolves. I'm sure he's planning something bigger...

Re: Oops!!!

Maybe we should go to fixed hosting now? That way everyone knows exactly when the turns are due, fewer people would miss turns.

Quit your job, live hedonistic http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif.

Seriously though i wouldn't mind playing fixed 48h host since i have RL-Trouble too atm.

Sub needed

I will need a sub for any hosting that happens this Saturday, Sunday, and perhaps Monday morning... since I don't know when it hosts, I dont' know how many turns this may be. Please PM me using this board if you are interested; I will return the favor some day!

Edit: Ah - Ironhawk posted that he was away at the Sundance film festival until Monday, so it's openended now. Should be back to normal (hopefully fixed time) hosting then.

Gotta agree - open-ended hosting schedules suck. One person holds it up to the point that other players forget about it, eventually the game usually dies of inertia.

Thought we were just going to fixed hosting so everyone knew when the game would host?

(If it's because of Morkilus : while he didn't post here, he was on #dominions yesterday and I believe had arranged for someone to fill in for him.)

Re: Sub needed

Yeah I said that I would switch the game to QH just for this weekend while I was away. That way you got one extra turn in while I was gone but as you can see its held up until I return. I will be back tonight so dont fret - your turn is coming http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Turnage

New turn is up!

Additionally I have switched the game to 36hr quickhost. I did this so that people would have more than a full day to notice that the game was back on a timer. Whether or not I put it back to 24hr qh is still up in the air as we seem to be having some stales and other players are requesting more time. If you have an opinion on what the timing should be for this game, state it again and your reasoning.

WraithLord January 24th, 2006 06:59 AM

Re: Turnage

I think the timing should be 48h.
This is a good pace for the busy ppl among us.

Re: Turnage

3 hours or so until Huntsman stales again...

I'd still prefer a 24 hour hosting schedule. I start losing interest when I can't remeber what is going on from turn to turn. I do understand, however, that most people have more of a life then I do http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Cainehill January 25th, 2006 04:02 PM

Re: Turnage

Maybe we should take a census? I'm certainly okay with 24 (and the hosting schedule seems to make no difference on whether or not Huntsman stales), and would actually prefer 24 or 48 hour fixed to 36 (easier to know exactly when it hosts).

'course, this is not a democracy - host gets final word. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Sorry guys. I'm just trying to hang in there without going AI because I'm pretty much toast now. New turn is up, btw

Re: Turnage

24 is fine atm, but it is beginning to pile up, so i'd say move to 48 sometime soonish, though it doesn't have to be yet.

Re: Turnage

the server is most definitely down.

edit: server back up. thanks ironhawk!

edit2: down again - Sheap, who's server it is, may be doing some things.

edit3: connections are just being flaky - i'll try to connect, and the game will lock up. then i'll immediately try to connect again, and be able to

Ironhawk January 28th, 2006 07:22 PM

Re: Turnage

Sheap has told me that his network is a little flaky at the moment but that the server is up and running. His recommendation is that everyone play thier turns offline today to minimize exposure to the network oddities. So just log in, download your turn, and log out. Play your turn offline and then just connect back to the server and it will immediately upload.

And so the game is reset for another 24 hours, when the only player left to go is down to one province and expects to die soon anyway????

nah ironhawk said he'd force it - he's just a few minutes late doing so atm

Sub needed

(might as well copy what I did in Frechdachs...)

I will be out of town from Thursday morning (GMT-7) to Sunday afternoon. This means I will need a sub for this game. Any takers? I don't require uber-skillz, simply PM me and I will give approximate instructions. I hope to return the favor someday. Any of the defeated players want a chance for revenge? (not against me...)

Edit: Found a sub! Yay! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif

heh, while it is entertaining defending against an axis of evil ;p I can't actually do it on my current work schedule - for this turn upcoming i'll need hosting changed to 48 hrs for a turn. then it can go back to 24, until next week...

I was able to get in this turn before i went to work, but it was a very close thing...

thanks
