7am i am usually putting a dent in the 1st pot of coffee.

An iron blows a fuse in your flat LLamabeast? I am assuming you do not even own an iron. See this is what happens when you have roommates, and you neglect to tell them the RULES.

Rule number 1. roommates may have as many overnight "guests" as they please, but they shall not become permanent fixtures around the apartment, and certainly will not begin to bring their "baggage" irons and such with them for their overnight visits.

Rule Number 2. roommates shall not drink any cold beer in the Fridge that is not their own without the express permission of said owner. Nothing worse than arriving home after a hard day's work, thinking about nothing but getting home and having an ice cold beer, then opening the front door and seeing a lot of empty beer cans on the living room floor. Murder has been done for less!

Okay, fixed! Hopefully you all will have just received your turns.

It seems that the iron-related poweroff happened _during_ KingMaker's hosting. Freaky. So the server did the bit where it increases the turn number and stuff, but didn't finish the bit where it actually hosts.

You're right Xietor, I don't own an iron, it was indeed a pesky housemate. If I have anything to do with it they won't own an iron either now, being as it turns off everything in the house when it's plugged in.

I was considering an alliance (as far as an alliance could go when neither member knows where the other is) with Utgard, but this might hurt that idea. You see, the MA Ulmish are quite meaty (though also tough, and possibly crunchy since many live almost their entire lives with armor on). Who wants an ally prone to eating your warriors? Not MA Ulm, at least.

Well, at least Utgard isn't Hinnom, whose Rephaim have a nasty reputation for just popping people into their mouths, clothes and all. No offense to Hinnom, of course; the Rephaim are otherwise quite nice fellows, once you get past their habit of gruesome and horrible feasts on humans, some of whom are sometimes still living. So, at least, I've heard.

Don't worry about offending Hinnom. They are almost deceased, courtesy of the friendly neighborhood Lankans.

Hmm, EA Ulm wouldn't be good eats, we're too hairy, and manly to boot, we'd get our loin cloths all up in your mizzle, fizzle.

EA Ulm all manly to boot? That's strange, last time we saw your troops they featured mostly female archers.

I am looking for a sub to cover my turns while I am away on my honeymoon.

Whoever wants to sub for me (Helheim) I will need you to sub from July 4th to July 12th, which should encompass four turns or so.

Thanks http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif.

Fortunately for you Foodstamp, your honeymoon falls over the 4th of July holiday. so you will not miss as many turn as you otherwise would.

Game will be paused July 4, 5, and 6.

Paused? Could you at least keep the quickhost on, in case people get their turns in? We already had a big holiday (summer equinox) go past without anyone complaining.

Xietor June 24th, 2008 11:30 AM

Re: Hinnom goes back to sleep

I certainly will leave quick host on.

And I do understand that not every nation gets as excited about 4th of July as we Americans, but it is a big holiday for us, and indeed for all people that live under the Rule of Law.

If there is some holiday of special significance to a group of nations like Europe, let me know in advance. I know from Alpaca that we cannot pause the game for every British holiday because they seem to have one every other weekend.

/tease llamabeast.

JimMorrison June 24th, 2008 12:21 PM

Re: Hinnom goes back to sleep

Well that's the thing, no one complained. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif (I personally actually care more for such observations, than other arbitrary "holidays", but meh)

Unfortunately for the rest of the world though, the 4th of July is a really big deal in the US. We have to take the chance to celebrate ending the oppression of our British masters, so that we could turn our attention back to oppressing the original inhabitants of this wondrous continent.

So now I guess we're kind of conflicted about the whole thing..... Instead of just throwing a party, we feel compelled to blow things up. My therapist says we were traumatized, and until we understand our buried feelings for our abusive father, we'll continue to take out our aggressions on less advantaged nations. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

Xietor June 24th, 2008 03:43 PM

Re: Hinnom goes back to sleep

To me personally the 4th is much more than our freedom from the British, who I now view as our closest friend.

The 4th stands to as a monument to the Rule of Law, where the individual has the right to life, liberty, and property, that cannot be deprived without due process of law. And that right is one the United States has tried to safeguard for all humans. We opposed Nazi oppression and South Africa's former regime, to name a couple of worthy causes.

Obviously the United States has not been perfect in its pursuit of this goal(thanks George W Bush), but we have over the course of our history done much to further human rights worldwide. At least i like to think so. And it is in this spirit that we celebrate the 4th of July.

Haha, it was nothing against the British, I had hoped that part would come across as tongue in cheek. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif I most definitely have more ire for my own nation, and how it is being led astray - than anyone else. But that is neither here nor there, I was just poking a little fun at America's pride and patriotism, and I should have known that it never goes unchallenged, even by the innocent. <3

Continuing about women of the various nations

MA Ulm certainly has women. How many, though, is unknown; they, like the rest of Ulm's population, spend their time in suits of armor that cover pretty much everything. For all we know, every Black Knight currently serving Ulm is female. For all we know, actually, every MA Ulman in the army could be a woman (Ulwoman?). The world may never know.

Yes, I blame this on playing too many games as Mictlan. The Marignon heavy infantry are the same color as Jaguar Warriors, and they cost about the same amount, so I thought they might be similarly effective. Sadly, that is not the case, and Dr. Wyrm was had to face too many fish-men for too long.

Still, I think my nation has a decent position. Despite our disastrous foreign adventure, we have a strong web of alliances and treaties, which I am sure will keep my neighbors from devouring me like a school of piranhas.
