Re: I Need More Power! - yet another MA newbie game - Running
Actually, the goose is cooked, was cooked and will be cooked!
Using new advances in material science, the armies of Ulm are now equipped with Self heating cooking pots, charged by pieces of spottygoose melted into the pots themselfs! This will allow the Soldiers of the Revolution to subsist on a steady and most healthy diet of warm and crispy sausages, without resorting to inferior food! Morale is said to have increased significantly! |

You are watching: Ulm news! Fair and heavy!
Breaking news! The Peoples Liberation army of Ulm has engaged in a most cunning ploy for the betterment of the mercilessly mistreated male Masses of Man (Ulm news is most pleased with this artfull attempt at alliteration), by burning down every unfortified temple they can reasonably reach, the Peoples Army hopes to save the temple building Proletariat of Man from certain unemployment due to lack of further temple building space (OOC: Good grief, that dominion graph spike could have been blood sacrificing or something). On a sidenote, the Army of Man also has some new positions available, although Ice Drake trainers will likely be in limited demand due to a urgent case of ice drake lacking. |
Re: I Need More Power! - yet another MA newbie game - Running
My word, things ARE getting interesting! Man vs Ulm, the ultimate showdown of ultimate destiny! :-)
I noticed that TC had stopped researching. Then I noticed that they hadn't built any units. Then I noticed that they staled last turn. Hopefully all is good with Lung Drago and (as with me in the previous turn) he just accidentally staled. |
Re: I Need More Power! - yet another MA newbie game - Running
Rosa, why are your stupid ugly monsters trampling on my beautiful statues? GO AWAY VILE BEASTS!

Re: I Need More Power! - yet another MA newbie game - Running
Hmm, the witches said I should calm down and try to discuss things calmy Rosa.
So I painted a nice picture of you to hang in your hovel. I only had the reports of bards to go on so I'm sure its entirely accurate: <img src="http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w36/momfreeek/rosa.jpg" style="border: 25px solid brown"> Did I get the right number of warts on your nose? Re: I Need More Power! - yet another MA newbie game - Running
I'm back...You see...Final exam celebration...My head still hurts a little  I foolishly believed I could slip my turn in right before that buuuuut...ahem, not going to comment on it.
And Ulm fiendlishy picked up the chance and moved for attack. Not nice. Nooooooope. Also, I believe I have songs to make. Abysia and C'tis. correct? I slightly remember preparing for that but... where did the link go? Uh, it will come eventually. Just stay tuned :P Right now, the only song I have in my head is "Champagne Showers" ^^ |
Re: I Need More Power! - yet another MA newbie game - Running
The Peoples Republic of Ulm only attacked the merciless opressors of males known as Man, we did not engage in any act of war against Tien Chi, and feel ourselfs bound by our mutual NAP 3.
Also, at least something is happening finally ;) |
Re: I Need More Power! - yet another MA newbie game - Running
Lucy: I like your picture! It does look suitably proletarian.
Lung Drago: Congrats on your exams being over (I hope!). Rosa: Does this now mean than Mannish women (so to speak) will be collectivised by the new regime? |
Re: I Need More Power! - yet another MA newbie game - Running
Actually, on thinking about it, perhaps compulsory gender re-allocations might be the answer to Man's woman problem? Or women's problem with men. Whatever.
|
Re: I Need More Power! - yet another MA newbie game - Running
We've got 80 minutes to run, and Man and Ashdod's turns aren't in yet, so I will do a 12 hour extension and see how that goes.
With things finally getting fun, this is not the time to stale! |
Re: I Need More Power! - yet another MA newbie game - Running
think I'll need another 12 hour extension.. there's a lot of ugly monsters to try and deal with.
|
Re: I Need More Power! - yet another MA newbie game - Running
Ugly?
It is deeply regrettable that the blatant sexism of the Manese Empire even encombs their artistic culture, causing them to see ugliness when looking at the radiant forces of progress! Perhaps Lucy should consider some reeducation, we have specialists for this! |
Re: I Need More Power! - yet another MA newbie game - Running
Cool, I just added another 12h on. Let me know if you need more.

Re: I Need More Power! - yet another MA newbie game - Running
The time has come. After what seemed like decades of strife, struggle and war, mighty C'tis has finally fallen. An event that brings joy to some and yet bitter sadness to others. Such is the way of wars and politics and some nations get to be the victims.
Regardless, cunning lizardmen of C'tis didn't give up their swampy lands for free. Oh no! I think everyone agrees with that. The ferocious resistance displayed by the subjects of the Barnacle Goose is simply astonishing and the Stars themselves shall see to it that future nations, which could find themselves in similar position, will have a pristine example to follow. Huzzah! We shall see what the future will give us, now that the Barnacle Goose is dead. Or is he? One does not simply march into C'tis and kill a phoenix! I wonder where he is now; enjoying a well deserved rest somewhere sunny and safe, perhaps? Senior Living, Song for all nationless immortal beings OOC: Abysia should be comming later this day, I hope :) |
Re: I Need More Power! - yet another MA newbie game - Running
Hah! The Prophet of Man lies dead! And the overzealous attentions of our artillery departments actually caused more kills of Ulms troops than he did!
Glory to the Peoples Army! |
Re: I Need More Power! - yet another MA newbie game - Running
The charts aren't looking the best for Man, I have to say.
Oh Lucy, where art though? Now I must listen to the Senior Living Song, in honour of my fallen neighbor Abysia. |
Re: I Need More Power! - yet another MA newbie game - Running
So tell me Jimbo, are you going to sit by and let Ulm grow until they are powerful enough that they cant be stopped in this game as well?
I am not in this game but i can read the charts just fine and you will never win without taking risks. Often crazy risks! Just saying. |

Re: I Need More Power! - yet another MA newbie game - Running
given that turns are becoming wvastly more complicated, a time extension may prove usefull in general.
|
Re: I Need More Power! - yet another MA newbie game - Running
Roughly four hours til the timer, and not one person has put their turn in yet.
Is it time to add an extra 24 hours to the timer, perhaps? |
Re: I Need More Power! - yet another MA newbie game - Running
That was what I was trying to say ;)
|
Re: I Need More Power! - yet another MA newbie game - Running
Mental note to self: refresh browser before posting :-)
EDIT: +24 hours added to the hosting interval. |
Re: I Need More Power! - yet another MA newbie game - Running
Certain dark being once said: "People are flames to be blotted out."
While the topic on what defines a person is debatable, flames were blotted out. Not all of them, though. The Flame of Abysia is said to be eternal: and it is. Even though it was conquered, humbled and defeated, it continues to burn. It now burns in the hearts of the conquerors and one has to wonder who conquered whom. What we have lost is another fine nation of masters of such flames. However, like their work, the eternal flames, their legacy shall live on in the minds of all of us. In a form of a song, for example! Any last hope of survival was mercilessly quenched and the light has gotten dark as last of Abysians perished. One has to wonder though: what lies beyond? Re: I Need More Power! - yet another MA newbie game - Running
Gentlemen (or women, as the case may be).
It is likely that Ashdod is about to stale for the second time. Now, I am fairly certain that Anaconda needs to travel on a fairly regular basis, so it may well be that he will be able to rejoin us. In the event that this does not happen, and it looks like he will stale for a third time in a row, I would propose that we turn Ashdod to AI and push on with the Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny. What are people's thoughts on this? Lucy: Feel free to draw a picture to express your opinion, if words are not sufficient to express your feelings on the matter. |
Re: I Need More Power! - yet another MA newbie game - Running
I just had a look at the graphs for the game, showing army size and number of provinces. Two things stuck out:
1) Man is in a world of hurt. I thought last turn was an aberration. Now I am wondering if it was the norm, and all of Man will be gone within the next three or four turns? 2) Pan is still holding in there, fighting the brave fight! What we really need now is for the original player to return and fight their way back into the game :-) Out of interest, will TC be honoring their three turn NAP with Ulm, or have they thrown such niceties overboard in their quest to save Juicy Lucy? |
Re: I Need More Power! - yet another MA newbie game - Running
Given that Tien Chi formally cancelled their NAP in turn 60, it would appear that they intend to honour it.
I will fairly soon be running out of unfortified provinces to raid though ;) Also, stupid Ettins that failed to take Marx teachings to heart! So easily are the swayed by some actually not quite charming Mannese tree huggers! (they all have MR20 or higher, which apperantly is not a safe zone for charm) I need a thorough investigation by the NKVD on my Wild Etting Corps! More interestingly, the comparably high education of wardens of Avalon makes them capable of understanding the progressive Ulmish cause! In several battles, they flat out refused to attack the angelic Iron Agents of the Revolution at all (muahahhaha, Halt heretic 8 ;) )! Is perhaps a proletarian overthrow in the works? |
Re: I Need More Power! - yet another MA newbie game - Running
Anaconda is back - yay!
|
I was under the internet radar for a week and a day or so and all hell breaks loose... interesting. gonna get my turn in today.
thanks for helping the game Cursed be Iron, JJ. |

You are watching: Ulm news, fair and heavy!
Its seems some Knights of Man have created a smart strategy to limit their exposure to Ulmish awesomeness, as Knight Commander Wight D. Montgomery phased it: "Rapid tactical lighting advances into our own rear area!", while their Ulmish opponents prefer the term "running away quickly in a fairly shocked manner". One of those Knights got dismounted by an Iron Angels casual backhand slap, picked up his horse and, while carrying his horse, was running away quicker than he was while riding it! Truely, tactical destruction squads of iron Angels can be excellent incentives for rapid gains in the field of light athletics! |
Re: I Need More Power! - yet another MA newbie game - Running
In related news:
* Pan continues to hold out in the capital of Marignon, fighting the good fight. Illegal betting agencies are currently offering odds of 3:2 that Pan will outlast Man * T'ien C'hi has cunningly chosen to prepare for the upcoming war with Ulm by doing ..... nothing. A spokesman was quoted as saying "doing nothing is the new black - just watch, soon all the cool kids will be doing it". |
Re: I Need More Power! - yet another MA newbie game - Running
Its called a "tactical defeat", stupid Umm men. Shows what your silly newspaper knows. And news is really, really BOOOORING. If you're going to make up some stuff why not make it about something nice, like Unicorns?
Anyway, the witches assure me they have a secret plan, they just won't tell me what it is.. its too secret. Its good cause if they didn't have a plan I'd probably have them all eaten. But if you go away now we won't have to kill you! GO AWAY STUPID UMM MEN! Lucy, Goddess of the Lake |
Re: I Need More Power! - yet another MA newbie game - Running
I need a 12 hour extension due to most pleaseant and beutyfull reasons.

girls, god damn, always in the way,
|
Re: I Need More Power! - yet another MA newbie game - Running
Extension added.
|
Re: I Need More Power! - yet another MA newbie game - Running
Now I need an extension, so another +12 added - sorry guys, work is a bit crazy at the moment and I am studying for an exam at the same time.
|
Re: I Need More Power! - yet another MA newbie game - Running
Before I crank my turn in, I am wonder what has happened to the Emperor of T'ien C'hi. We really need to keep TC involved (rather than staling) if we are going to have a suitably challenging end game.
|
Re: I Need More Power! - yet another MA newbie game - Running
Well, The armies of Ulm will take some time to reorganise, but we believe that this will be less time that what Man needs to get some new armies :)
I will need an extension because organising the next turn will take a while. I also think that I broke mans back this turn. |
Re: I Need More Power! - yet another MA newbie game - Running
Man, how many Grendelkin did I kill? I think I lost about 4 Iron Angels.
|
Re: I Need More Power! - yet another MA newbie game - Running
5 or 6? I'm not sure what they were doing in that battle to be honest.. certainly not what I intended when I gave them orders but nvm ^^
I've been struggling to figure out why my witches only occasionally choose to cast song of power when ordered to do so. It seems the AI just considers it a bad idea when faced with certain death at the hands of a tooled up Iron Angel . Even so I don't see how I could have defeated the impressively organised armies of Ulm.. my original strategy wasn't planned beyond summoning lots of cheap ice drakes. I've learnt a lot :) |
Re: I Need More Power! - yet another MA newbie game - Running
My battle scripting also went horribly weird.
Song of power is damned annoying if it goes off though, perhaps its some friendly fire calculation? As in, only blow up everything if the Iron Angel/Wild Ettin already nommed enough people? Interestingly, so far I didnt have to bother using my reserves, which I may be doing now since TC (who I was intending to use the reserves against) is not doing much. |
Re: I Need More Power! - yet another MA newbie game - Running
Maybe we should add to interval, say 24H, so we wouldnt need the extension all that much? I am getting my turn in tonite, but I seem to be the first anyways.
|
Re: I Need More Power! - yet another MA newbie game - Running
So whats up with the game?
|
Re: I Need More Power! - yet another MA newbie game - Running
Sorry, i have totally miscalculated my turn submission of late (its billing time at work so I've been doing everything at the last moment - unsuccessfully in this case).
I notice that TC has totally disappeared. I propose we have a big postponement, see if we can find him, and if we can't try and rustle up a sub - thoughts on this, guys? |
