How to bless the Ghoul Guardians?

Playing around with Ulm Black Forest i found no way to bless the sacred Ghoul Guardian. (Devine) Bless works only on non-undead like the black templars.

Undead sacreds like the ghoul guardians can only be blessed by unholy bless. But LA ulm doesn't have it.

So how can the ghoul guardians as troops ever be blessed by ulm?

This is a symptom of a widespread problem in the changes in unholy/holy magic.

Short answer: get an undead priest.

Prophetize a vampire count? Or summon some cheap undead commander and prophetize him if you don't have the blood flowing yet.

Later on, Mound Kings can give you more undead priests.

Note as well if you're using both undead and non-undead sacreds, once Divine Bless has been cast, the undead priests won't bother casting unholy bless. (And probably vice versa, if the battlefield unholy bless has been cast)

I'm not sure what the real solution to this is, other than to just have the same bless work on both living and undead.
It needs to be fixed, though.

Undead priests don't have unholy bless. Even with a vampire as prophet you can just cast normal holy spells.

I'm fine with a concept that undead sacreds only be blessable by unholy bless and non-undeads needs normal bless. But like you note playing ME ermor i know the problem/bug with only one bless active on the battlefield. There should be a solution. Maybe an ermor without devine bless, but then you've unblessable lictors http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif.

Same problem for Sauromatia : the (sacred) ancestral spirits cannot benefit from a bless either...
cheers

Crap... I was just about to send my Black Priest along with my Guardians. Looks like I'll have to make a Mound Fiend instead (which won't be for a while)

Yeah, I misunderstood how the bless got determined. So it's just holy/unholy by nation?

That's even worse than I thought. Maybe it should be by undead status of the priest doing the blessing? (Does this mean that undead priests of most nations (say Mound Kings) can't bless themselves?)

It would seem better to me to just have one type of bless. Black Templars and Ghoul Guardians are both sacred to the same pretender, why would his priests not be able to bless both?

And how do sacred demons fit in? They come under holy bless right? But need undead leadership?

I am playing MA Ermor and I can use my Thurmaturgs/Grand Thurmaturgs to cast Divine Blessing and Unholy Blessing in the same battle. So I can have unholy blessed shadow vestals and divine blessed lictors fighting side by side. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif

I've done a test and it seems meglobob is right, it works even with devine bless firstcast. I tested with the Level 3 'global' forms.
