Strategy Order

Hi guys. Has anyone noticed that if the strategy Optimal Firing Range has the TRUE changed to FALSE regarding launching units in combat that other strategies on ships, fleets will not launch as well?

Hmm, I'm not using the default strategies anyway, so...

Blue Temlar, are you able to launch fighters if you change TRUE to False in the Optimal Firing Range strategy? So far with all the strategies that I have tried (custom or deafault)if the Optimal F R is set to FALSE for launching units in Combat that will stop launch from all.

I had no problems launching fighters so far.

I'm not sure, but it can come from your carrier having Optimal firing range has individual strategy.

Re: Strategy Order

From my combat syms, it all depends on the Optimal Firing Range strategy. If it is set to TRUE as it is, then there is not problem with any ship or planet launching fighters if there able to. If the O F R strategy is set to FALSE for units launching then all the other strategies a ship or planet will not launch. I’m trying to get planets not to launch in combat so the fighters will fight in the ground battle. According to the ground combat sym fighters win the day over ground troops. I did up to a 4 to 1 and took out 20 troops for the loss of one fighter with 13% damage.

I just wandered if anyone has noticed the Optimal Firing Range strategy, weather in use or not seems to determine all other strategies regarding launching fighters.

Re: Strategy Order

If your planet launched fighters are not destroyed during the space combat, they will appear in the ground combat the same turn.

Re: Strategy Order

Most cases any fighter I have are destroyed durring space combat. That was the point of not having them launch in the first place. Although it seems that the invading troops will not drop if there are fighters on the planet that have not launched. This from several combat syms. It is the Optimal Firing Range strategy that is at issue now for me. That one strategy from my observation over ridrs the others regarding Launching units in combat. If set to False ships no matter their strategy will no launch.

Re: Strategy Order

Other case possible, your ships are in a fleet using OFR strategy.
But I don't know what strategy is prefered for launching, ship's or fleet's one?

Re: Strategy Order

It does not matter what strategy fleets or planets have. If the strategy “Optimal Fire Range” has TRUE changed to FALSE regarding launching units in combat then no fighters will launch, from planets or ships. It doesn’t matter if that strategy is not being used. Just changing the TRUE to FALSE will affect all the other strategies launching fighters. Kind of surprised no one has noticed this. I did just from space sym combat.
