Full (or near full) screen Win 7 fix
Hello fellow SP'ers. I posted a possible fix for those that are having Windows 7 issues over on the winSPMBT site. Posted here as a public service message, is the link to that page for those that hang around the WWII site and might not get over there: http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/showthread.php?t=45099
Hope this gets the remaining players back into the game! Good luck. |

Another solution here that worked for me.

Re: Full (or near full) screen Win 7 fix
Tanker, I tested Ncrawler's fix (at the link you provided) and must say it is a superior solution. I've tested it exhaustively on both WinSPWW2 and WinMBT (with a slight modification to that .exe). I've had no problem running the game(s) in full screen mode, none of the annoying color pallet shift that could occur.
Perhaps Don and Andy could implement this very small fix into the next patch. Until then it is a simple fix if one can make a new shortcut. |
Re: Full (or near full) screen Win 7 fix
Hi Guys,
I'm a new user to WinSPWW2 running Windows 7 64 Ultimate. Whilst this fix works to get the game into full screen without palette corruption, the game does lag. As other users have reported, there is a pause for every five hexes that a unit moves. Menu options once the game has started are also laggy (i.e. if I select preferences, the game takes a few seconds before responding to the selection). The game runs fine in a Window though but it would be nice to have full screen. Cheers Mark |
Re: Full (or near full) screen Win 7 fix
Just a thought here but for those of you with lag in full screen mode.
If you play without the fix in full screen mode does the lag still occur? If so the fix is not the problem only if it now does not occur is the fix doing something. |

My laptop is a single core, shared video (ATI). Without seeing the problem in action, I'm wondering if it is a problem with duel (or quad) cores not being able to "share" the load properly. Not sure, but I doubt the game is optimized for multiple cores. This problem could even vary by manufacture/chip set as to how well it handles the instructions. There might be a way to force the use of a single core for a specific application. Just a theory. Make sure video and MB chip drivers are up to date too. |

Re: Full (or near full) screen Win 7 fix
Does anyone using Vista have this lag issue using this fix or is it confined to Win 7 ?

For those who have tried this fix and have a "lag" issue try this and let me know if you see a noticable difference

First though they need to see if lag is there on the standard game if not we know the fix is to blame but I am thinking its more likely that the standard game lags to. If thats the case a visit to the Win 7 forums for a fix is the way to go. |
