New Guy
Greetings to All,
First I would like to thank everyone who has made this game possible. If I would divide the number of hours I have played this game by the amount I paid for the CD version, it would come out to pennies. My wife always ask me what I am playing and tell her its the same game I have been playing since 1996. Steel Panthers game of one type or other. It is nice to buy a new computer and not need to worry about the speed or video card. I know that SPMBT will play on anything better than a Vic 20. On to my questions before I forget what they were. First, does anyone else go into a swearing fit when they call in an airstrike on troops in the open and the A10 bombs your own troops? I am normally reserved and well mannered but those pilots make me swear like a Sailor. Second....The best part I like is generating new campaigns and buying troops for my core forces. I think about the best mix when I am driving to work. I know what unit I can buy for 18 points in every country so I can spend the last dollar. My question is, I always pick on North Korea. I have beat them up with every country to include North Korea them self. Is there a country you always pick on? |
Re: New Guy
Hi there!
Very glad to know there's one more winSP fan here. Oh, look it's your first post... and guess what, your join date is the same as mine, it's been 3 years today since I first joined the forum. Regarding your question; well I can only keep smiling when one of my close air support elements strike down to my own kids down there. This is one rare thing I can be proud to tell to people. This is what I love when it comes to SP's simulating the anomalies of war. But of course I would send the pilot off for a court martial after that. ;) A country to be picked on frequently? Well if it's SPWW2 I would more often than not choose Germany or Japan, don't know why, but I think it has something to do with the uniqueness of playing these defeated nations. If it's MBT, I always tend to pick major nations with complete and original arsenal like US or USSR (Russia). I think that's for myself. PS: Oh, about your devising plans on your trip to work. Better stay away from it, or you'll end up turning-on your laptop and load your campaign game when you get red lights... :D |
Re: New Guy
I don't think you are a true MBT fan unless you think about builds in the shower, driving, eating ice cream or anything else. I have started no less than 4.2 million campaigns games in my lifetime. Ok....maybe not that many but I sure have done it a bunch.

Re: New Guy
My wife also complains about me "spending so much time playing that chicken wire game," referring to the hex grid on the screen.

Welcome :) To answer your questions: 1)I rarely do that any more, probably because it rarely happens to me anymore. I don't even remember the last time it did. There is plenty of pissed off moments though when an enemy MBT keep deflecting all my shots. I don't care how good armor it is, no tank should withstand 20 hits by MBTs in a single round. 2)I used to pick on neighbouring countries since it made sense. After many many battles I knew them so well that I had zero problems defeating them all the time. Now I either pick random countries, or as I do most of the time, play PBEM. I have 3 winspmbt PBEM games on all the time, 2-3 turns each every day. Several hours spent on this game every day. |

I hope it is not rude to ask......Who is Don and who is Andy? From reading the forums a bunch it seems like they are important. By important I mean the guys who do the work to give us upgrades.
