Kicking player?
One of the players in NGC3 does not reply to my e-mails.
One of the game rules is: 1. Always have a valid e-mail adress where the host can reach you. I was tryoing to reach hime to ask why he uploads a few hours before the 72 hour deadline runs out, persistantly! If there was anything I could help him with? Now what to do as I can't get contact with him, he still plays his turns. As I see it I have three options: 1. Do nothing, accept things as they are. 2. Run a turn offline, changing his password so that he must contact me. 3. Kick him. Any suggestions, opinions, ideas? |

Then 3 if unsuccessful. |
Re: Kicking player?
Hmmm kicking a player who gets his turns in within the games set time doesn't seem right to me. Seems like what you really want is a faster game so why not just set it to 48 hours or whatever.

Re: Kicking player?
I have that problem with Georgig.
I would not ever think of kicking him. I just delete the bounced mail. And hope he reads the Messages. Remeber not all e-mails accept everything that is sent to them. I believe that is the case with Georgig and I. I think his ISP bounces my emails. I would suggest that you get someone to contact him in the game next turn to send you an email about your concerns... Then you can work it out. |

Re: Kicking player?
Give him some time. He might be away (vaccation virus?), not able to read his mail, only able to get limited internet access. Maybe by uploading late he tries to make sure that, after uploading his turn, he can instantly download the results - thereby minimizing the necessary internet contacts which may pose a problem.
Guesswork of course. He just should have told us or at least you before. I too do not like lack of communication. I suggest to give him 1 or 2 more weeks, then force him to contact you by doing 2) - should not hurt. [ June 15, 2003, 16:46: Message edited by: Roanon ] |

I mean if he did not answer his e-mails but got his turns in within 24hrs you would not consider kicking him. (I think) I think if I ever host a 72 hour game I would put a note in the rules something like: "This game will be on 72 hours turns to allow players who may occasionaly need some extra time. Players are encouraged to submit turns within 24hrs. Failure to do so consistantly without expalination will result in the boot" [ June 15, 2003, 17:00: Message edited by: DavidG ] |
