Your biggest battle?
 

Hi,

Today I was in the largest battle I can recall ever fighting. I'd be curious to read about any others.

In a TDM solitaire game, turn 845, I was guarding a warp point when the United Floral sent in a huge force. Here's the breakdown:

Me: 200 dreadnoughts
80 baseships
---------------------
Opp: 2 battleships
254 dreadnoughts
144 heavy carriers (around 40 to 50 heavy fighters on each)

In strategic combat I killed every enemy ship and lost 29 dreadnoughts and 20 baseships. A couple of dozen more were damaged to various degree.

I never had the patience to play games until the turn 845... then, my biggest battles were with near to 100 DN for each side.

The largest I've ever had is about 45 ships of different classes from destroyers to dreadnaughts against 35 AI dreadnaughts.
In lost about eight large ships and wiped the AI out.It concentrated onthe heavy ships giving my little destroyers and cruisers free reign.

My biggest battle are looming against Slynky in the Phun game.

My biggest battles all were against the AI in TDM

me 95 AI 154, me defending wormhole (Cu Cuppa)

me 14 BS & StarBases, 25 ships, AI 125 3 straight turns, I lost the wormhole after the 3rd attack (Toran)

several other battles with at least 100 ships on the AI side and mine between 80-100 ships.

Defending wormhold definitly gives defender an edge, maybe should make this a random so the defender doesn't always get the lst shot???

Me:
10-15 Battlecruiser support ships (minesweeper/repair/etc)
~20 Large Transport Troopships.
200 Dreadnought warships.
1 TroopCarrier Battlemoon.

Enemy:
1 Huge Planet
20 Billion pop (Wierd but true with standard planetsizes)
Religious Talisman Tech
GOBS of Huge weapons platforms.

Result:
All Warships Lost
All Troop Transports lost.
Heavy damage to Battlemoon's organic armor.
70,000 (est) troops lost in space.
30,000 (est) troops landed on planet.
~20 turns later the planet was captured.

My biggest battle was with me and the TDM AIs. Each side had 150+ ships and I whooped all over the AI as I had changed ship designs to better defend/attack their design.

But that battle will seem small when it comes time to fight in my Return to Hell game. (Full tech start, 10 planets, 5K points with a full cluster to develope in before you had to meet anyone) Now warp points are all over the place and some fighting has begun between other players. I myself haven't yet. But when the battle happens between me and whoever doesn't like me will be probably 300+ (dreads and baseships) ships on both sides. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif

To give everyone a bit of perspective on that game: I had two fleets of 70+ (mixed BCs and baseships) blown away by star destroyers..and I barely even flinched.

EDIT: that and the savegame file is over two megs in size. I wonder if we'll break SE4 soon..

I think the biggest I've seen is about 600 ships and drones involved, plus fighters and satellites.

Outside the simulator, that is. I know that you can practically fill the entire combat map with fighters and not get an error - at least, you could in one of the late Gold betas.
