PBW Game Rules Rant

This is for all who currently, are plan to, play PBW games.

Please, please, please, before you join a game, read the rules of the game. If something is not clear to you, then email the game owner for clarification. Get the other players of the game invovled in the clarification so everyone involved understands. If you do not like the rules of the game, or feel they are too vague, then don't join.

I am sorry if I sound too harsh but, I have had 1 too many PBW games ruined by someone who broke the rules of the game. Not all rules of a game can be strictly enforced by game setup, therefor, it is important that special rules be understood and complied with for everyone's enjoyment.

Game Owners - Try to make sure the rules are clearly stated in the game description so that anyone who is looking can understand. If possible, enforce the rules at game setup.

Game Players - If anything is not clear, ask the game owner to clarify and get all other players involved so the rules are clear to everyone.

Following this procedure would ensure many happy games for all.

know what i hate... And I am guilty of it...

Declaring war and attacking the same turn...

It is gamey....

I am trying to not do it...

well its gamey if you had actually prepared for the attack, (like setting ships in 1 turn distance and mining enemy planets). otherwise its just element of surprise dont you think? but thats OT.

Re: PBW Game Rules Rant

That is not gamey. Gamey is moving your fleets over their large worlds and then declaring war to avoid minefields. But, declaring war and then attacking is not gamey; it is called a sneak attack and is perfectly legitimate.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">No, preparing for the attack is not gamey. Mining their planets is, but preparing to attack is not.

Re: PBW Game Rules Rant

not true... as the message is delivered after the attack....

so you skip mines etc...

Fyron June 28th, 2003 06:25 PM

Re: PBW Game Rules Rant

Tesco, you only skip mines if you are in the sector with the planets when you declare war. If not, then you skip no mines.

Also, the message is delivered concurrent to the attack, not after it. The attack and the message recieval happen on the same turn.
