I too miss it. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

I think it was an arty round. Neck was to short for a 50. Perhaps a 105mm.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">If you look now it's proably gone. Or hitting refresh will make it go away. If you are seeing it anywhere it's from your browser Cache.

I prefer the new one over the bullet.

I, too, liked the bullet.

The bullet will be sorely missed. Missed the bullet shall be. Be missed the bullet shall.

^__^ Thew new one is kind of spiffy, but, as I just said, the Bullet was superior.

We should start a site, like WELOVETHEIRAQIINFORMATIONMINISTER.COM

WELOVETHESGIFBULLET.COM

^__^ man, I need some sleep.

Just noticed that the bullet logo is still there if you use the forum "search" function. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Re: where did the 50BMG go?

The "Bullet" was a 7.62mm round (or a 308 for you Americans) not a 50 cal. If it was a 50 cal it was a rather poorly distorted Version of one.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">No way! The case has almost no neck and the diameter is too small when compaired to the length. (Actually, I think it was just a drawing of a generic round) It is much closer to a high-velocity artillery round. I have a large shell casing that looks exactly like the one in the picture (no round of course) It is about 100mm at the neck and perhaps 150 to 175mm an the base and stands about 30 inches high.

Small arms cartridge specs http://www.reloadbench.com/cart.html

To us Yanks, it would be 7.62 NATO

</font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Yer smoking gunpowder. It's definitly not an arty round. It does actually have characteristics of a few different types now that I think hard about it. In all liklihood it's not even taken from a real round. Still looks more like the 7.62. I have an unspeant one I took from range a long time ago... wish I could remember where it is.

Re: where did the 50BMG go?

I might have inhaled more than my share of cordite, but it aint a 308. I’ve fired thousands of them and they all had necks that were about 8mm long and more than the diameter of the round. The neck in the picture is about 1/6 the diameter of the round.

Tigbit September 3rd, 2003 06:05 PM

Re: where did the 50BMG go?

You are right, the round is smaller than the casing... but it is still not an arty round.
