Bases

Hi

I am a noob! just got the game, and I have been playing it all day, (does the research ever end!)

anyway I have jsut built my first base, and I was wondering how do you move them? I have on it loads of weapons and I want to put it in a key spot in the sector, such as on the warp hole, but I just can not figure out how to move it as it can not have engines

If anyone can tell me, please do!

Thanks

Re: Bases

Welcome to the forum.

You are basically screwed. Bases don't move, thats why they are bases, not ships http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif (No tugs available in SEIV)

If you want your base at a specific location you have to build it there. Use a shipyard ship, you can build those on hulls of cruiser size or larger.

Research do end, but it takes more than 1 day http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Re: Bases

Nope, you'll have to put a space yard component on a ship, move the ship to the wormhole and build a base there. You can also make a small base with a spaceyard component and first have your space yard ship (SYS) build that base and then the base can make the base with the weapons. In the mean time your SYS can move around and build other bases at other crucial points.
I sometimes use such a SYS to build space yard bases over small planets. Helps building fleets and units very quick.

Re: Bases

There is a tractor beam and repulser beam but they are only used in combat to push or pull attacking ships closer/farther. Not for use on the main map.

Re: Bases

Bases can be moved by "ship - movement" random event or if it has been build in a system with ship movement capabilities. For example Black Hole http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Don't I know it... FQM deluxe... organic system with planets... built a defense base and every turn the base gets moved 1 space in a random direction. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif
