Funny Starfury Moments

Share your funny moments from playing Starfury! The AI does something stupid, YOU do something stupid, a bug in the game, whatever! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Moments after I fired on an Abbidon freighter I was collecting a bounty on, I got this message: "We detect no ill will in you, Dogpile." Wishful thinking on the part of the Abbidon, or are they a bit slow on the uptake? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Another freighter, this time Terran - I'm chasing his two escort fighters around and I slip past one and guess what... along comes the other and KABOOM! Now there was one dead fighter and one heavily damaged fighter, and the Terran ship was easy prey http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Re: Funny Starfury Moments

Three pirate cruisers are heading for me, but I've got a big TCN fleet behind me. A carrier (8 fighters), a battleship, and 3 destroyers & cruisers.
I stood back in an asteroid field to watch the initial exchange of fire which was most impressive. The carrier alone let loose a volley of 4 CSMs plus all its fighters pumping P&N meson bLasters into the enemy.
Quantum torpeodes flew from the Battlecruiser, and space was alive with purple APBs. In seconds the Pirates' shields were stripped on all facings, and they were taking serious armor hits.
I then headed into the melee in order to make sure the one Pirate I was hired to kill actually did die http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

I wheel and deal the damage for a minute before noticing a distinct lack of friendly fire.
While the Fighters were still swarming with me, all of the capital ships had killed one pirate and then decided to leave!
With the TCN fighters chewing the occasional CSM intended for me, and absorbing PD continuously, they began to thin out.

It was all I could do to retreat back to the asteroid belt before taking heavy internal damage and losing most of my armor.
Then they fined me for not finishing the Job http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

shouldn't this be in the starfury board?

Yes this should be in Star Fury but...
I am on a mission to protect a freighter. I follow it around the system making sure nothing bothers it and I come up on the mission end time not a scratch on the freighter and I get fined for not completing the mission.

Re: Funny Starfury Moments

apparently, 'escort the freighter' means 'kill all the pirates created to attack it'. or so i've heard.

Ed, i think this post on the se4 forum is ok http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

it is just a '3d-gui' for se4 anyway right? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif

I downloaded the demo but it crashes way way too much on my system for me to really 'play' it :/

I hope they fix those problems soon, it looks fun

..I love to creep up behind pirates at full throttle and deplete their aft shields, pulverise their aft armor, and mash their hull till they die... but more often than not, once their armor is gone, I manage to utterly destroy their engines. they come to an abrupt halt and I always fail to hit the breaks. I ram, I die.

I always feel like a goof, but sure enough, I reload and do it again, and again,...

Cheers! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

it generally takes me a several shots to destroy all there engines, so i generally have time to slow down.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">You mean they stop moving when their engines are gone, rather than continuing along their Last vector? Yeah, that would be kinda counter-intuitive... but I guess it copies SE4 physics rather well...

platehead: 'why do you move?'
aristoped: 'why, because the engines make you move.'
platehead: 'so, naturally, what happens when you don't have any engines?'
aristoped: 'you don't move!'

and i'm pretty sure you can all guess who platehead and aristoped are brainless mangling's of.

no insult to MM or Aaron hall intended. when your making a game, you have to make it fun, in a time frame, within a budget and realistic, in that order.

I'm in a hot dogfight with several ships and I am chasing a heavily damaged cruiser. Suddenly a huge battleship closes in and I break off pursuit by taking a hard right... and promptly run off the system grid. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

By the time I return to the grid and flee, I am now more heavily damaged then my prey! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif

Ok, I can understand the FEDS (TCN) space station opening fire when you recover illegal items.

But, I had just finished defending a pirate base. I recovered a contraband cargo, and wouldn't you know it, the pirate space station nailed me good.
Fortunitly I had enough time to eject the cargo.

Of course, they stop firing when the cargo is ejected. No memory at all :<))

Re: Funny Starfury Moments

I just get my copy today, early, and begin to play a nice game of Star Fury. I play most of the day and through most of the missions. I am proud of the game as I really enjoy it so I decide to show it off to my twin nephews. Both are 6 and still strung out from Halloween.

They eeeww and oww at the game and generally are very excited. They ask if they can play it and I say after I am done. We all go out side to enjoy the nice cold weather and I become distracted working on my Quad. I ripped the front fender off the other day down at sandlake and was replacing the bracket when I realized that both of my nephews were AOL. I know instantly where they are. I run for the house...... I run down the hall..... I enter the room just in time to see my ship crash into a planet. GAME OVER..........

I should have saved it, but we all know why I didn't; "Ah nothing will happen while I am away."

Re: Funny Starfury Moments

OK, not really funny, at least not for me.

Second time through the campaign, this time with SJ's P&N Mod, which is awesome by the way. I'm on the mission where you have to protect the Pirate Starbase. I arrive at said Starbase with my Abbidon Cruiser fairly decked out. Battle ensues almost immediately. Must be about a dozen or so Pirate Cruisers/Destroyers and another dozen fighters against me and the starbase. I am frantically involved in battle...target nearest,,FIRE...target nearest,,FIRE...etc. The heavens are on fire with the glow of APB's, MB's, DUC's, and a variety of missiles and torpedoes. This intense battle rages for the better part of an hour, realtime not gametime, and it's finally down to just 2 pirate cruisers left. I'm following one of them with my APB/Tachyon Cannon's blazing as rapidly as they can fire. The enemy cruiser starts a left turn, I immediately turn right as I am following close enough for max damage. The enemy was only fooling on his left turn and immediately swings right, yeah right into my path with no time to react...BOOM. Collision in space which demolishes my ship. Almost an hour battle which will have to be fought again!!
God I love this game!!
