What video resolution do you play SE4 at?
 

I stick to 800 x 600 because with anything higher, it's just too bloody difficult to see the ships. There are so many beautiful shipsets out there, and it's a shame to not be able to see the ships move across the screen.

If I felt like switching rez just for SE4, it would be to 1024x768. Blow up the graphics a bit, but keep all the buttons & stuff on one screen, and keep the lists at a reasonable number of entries per page.

I use 1024 x 768, except when there is a huge tactical battle, and then I use 1600 x 1200 just for the battle, so as much as possible can fit on the screen at once.

Not at all.
My monitor isn't terribly large, but I only need to see the minis for location info.
I go about admiring the portraits, and superimpose them onto the minis and fleets mentally.

1024x768... in fact, SE4 is the reason I have my desktop set at that resolution - when I bought my laptop, it was set at something like 1400x1280, but SE4 always showed up so tiny since it didn't scale to that resolution, so I changed to 1024x768! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Funny, though... with some of my previous computers, I couldn't tolerate anything higher than 800x600 and often used plain old 640x480, just because the text at the "higher" resolutions like 1024x768 was too tiny... I use the same as SJ, 1152x864.

I don't usually have any problems with seeing the ships. Using 800x600 eliminates a useful info box that is displayed during tactical combat...

You can change the font size in windows in the desktop display properties.

I'm short sighted, http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif I can't read a streetsign 3m away without my glasses, but when I take them off there's no too small letter for me. And I never use them in from of the computer.

Hi Antonin,1024x768 is the way for me always http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif ,tho 800x600 is great,i need to see all icons above & larger map,also i increase my moniter brightness to 65-70 to see a lot more on screen because,Some Default Ai ships, are colored in the dark range against space background.

I use 800x600 because my wife hates small icons. But now that she has her own comp and only uses mine for email, I am considering using another resolution.

Icon size can be changed, "large icons" are 48x48, compared with old small icons 32x32. But you can manually enter a number if you want bigger ones.

800x600. I have a 13" monitor, and I can barely make out anything on the larger resolutions. It works well for me. I have to make a consious effort to change it when I play Starfury.

I use 1280x1024, but SEIV then has a black band around the edges where it can't scale up that big. The planet letters are kind of small. A 21" monitor does help though. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">I tried one resolution higher than 800 x 600 (I forgot which one it is), and selected the "large icons" option in the display setup, but the ships are still too small.

I do wear glasses, but at resolutions higher than 800 x 600 I still have a hard time...

I noticed that some guys play at a higher resolution because they don't like to scroll the toolbar. I don't like to scroll either, but to me being able to see the ships and planet and read the info easily cancels out the scolling inconvenience.

I'm a little surprised that so many people play above 800 x 600. I wish I had you guys' eyes!
