Quick question about Intel

Ok, here it is. If I complete an Intel project like Counter-Intelligence 2, it says we have completed the project and defended against attacks from Empire X. So do those points continue to be used for defense, or are they gone forever? Thanks.

Re: Quick question about Intel

All remaining points go poof. Don't allow counter-intel to finish, its a waste.

Quite right, PD, counter-intel is counter intuitive. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Doesn't make a lot of sense. That's always how I thought it worked, but still... Anyways, thanks for the help.

Yeah, I agree. Every turn, I have to remember to check if my counter-intel projects are close to completion, and if so, to move it to the end of the queue. Often I forget to do that, and next turn I get the message that the project completed - there goes all those accumulated points, gone! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

Re: Quick question about Intel

What the game should do is just max out the CI and leave the points in it.

wait, so if when my CI project is nearly full, remove all my intelegence buildings I still have good CI?

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Well that would certainly work, but the normal solution is to just move it to the end of the queue.
Remember to turn the "divide points equally" off.

Heh, ironically, you would have problems (all CI projects would be full and you would have to check them constantly not to lose points in them) if nobody would try to penetrate your CI http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">You may use the 'repeat projects' button. This prevents at least from finishing CI projects. Especially it is good while using the same intel projects against the same empire and targeting 'ANY'. Set once and forget about it http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif Surely, if you don't want 'ANY', you'll have to set intel projects manually.

Re: Quick question about Intel

I think that the counter-intel projects still get completed when 'repeat projects' is enabled. It just starts new projects automatically. So if in the Last turn, your CI project was 90% complete, and the next turn the project finished, you would see that the completion of the project is now back down to around 0% again because the old one is gone and a fresh one was created. Those accumulated points are still lost, aren't they?

Re: Quick question about Intel

Also, Repeat Projects puts the new intel project in the same slot the completed one was in (unlike the Research queue, which puts the repeated project at the end of the queue).
