Immigration?
 
I was wondering... when a planet is full of people (i.e. my homeworld with 4B people) is there any sort of immigration to other "available" planets, or do they.. uhh... just stop reproducing? If it isn't happening, I think that would be a good idea to include eventually because it would help system growth and be more realistic (c'mon, we can't expect 4 billion people to stop having sex!).

Yep, after that, sex is outlawed. Can you say, "Pop Transport"?

lol.... there would be full blown riots if sex (or splitting for those over-weight aliens!) was outlawed.


I know it's doable with pop-transports, but that's such a pain in the ***. I guess that what I was thinking of was an automated Version of that. Maybe with a new facility or something http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Depends on your species. Humans would probably keep having sex, and just kill each other to stay under the quota.

Just kidding. More accurately, humans would probably overpopulate and erode their own planet's ability to support life until it was too late.

Birth Control. Ever heard about The Pill ? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif No need to outlaw sex, Europe population would be shrinking due to less than 2 births per woman if not for imigration.

But is there a way to automate the immigration process? I mean, it gets tedious to build a transport, ferry a cargo load of people to an almost empty planet, then go back to the full planet and start the process over again. Can't we simplify this?

The next patch may help this:


Version 1.85:
5. Fixed - Changed Population Transport minister so that it takes population
to lowest populated planet.

i'd be willing to bet it will take the atmosphere into account (or mixing pops)... otherwise it's sort of a half-assed addition, right?

Yes id like to see it take them to the lowest pop planet but also take into consideration atmosphere ie take it to the bigger planets with the same atmosphere as youre race needs (green star planets) then populate the non atmosphere domed ones next (red star planets) or if you have large pop trasnports take them to green stars and use smaller pop transports (capacity and speed etc) to smaller red star planets - or make it user defineable by the player.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Repeat orders for big breathables, and make a special trip for small and domed planets. Those you can do a few at a time with one transport...
