Very quick question about Sphereworlds
Will the AI ever construct sphereworlds or ringworlds in a Single Player game? If not, can the AI be modded so they will construct them? Thanks in advance.

But I do not know if the AI can be modded to do so. Someone else will have to handle that part of the question. |

Can anybody else help?

Re: Very quick question about Sphereworlds
The stock AI will not. It doesn't have designs for the bases neccesary to create them.
You could probably setup an AI to build those bases. But there is no way you are going to be able to get it to build them over a star, and to build the right number of other bases with the cables and plating neccesary for the job. The ai just doesn't have the knowledge to do that sort of thing. It would require some changes to the game code by Malfador. Geoschmo |

Ok, thanks. Guess that gives me an advantage then.

Re: Very quick question about Sphereworlds
I wonder if it is possible to do in AIC mod - because of the "AI only" race technology. Add some huge ship capable to carry all components and edit designs file. Will AI send such a ship to the sun and build Sphereworld ? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif

Re: Very quick question about Sphereworlds
I tried GIVING a fully developed sphereworld to the AI on several occasions just so i'd have a better challenge in defeating them.... they refused my offer lol, they always do.

Re: Very quick question about Sphereworlds
The AI will colonize a ring or sphereworld. So if you want to play against an AI with such an world just build them one (in one of their systems) and let them colonize it.
Or mod the map so they 'find' one available... |
Re: Very quick question about Sphereworlds
I have had success in getting the AI to accept stuff by using trades. Say I have a damaged ship stranded far away that I don't want to pay maintenance on, and it's not worth sending out a repair ship. So I try to gift it to an AI and they refuse. No problem. Propose a trade, and give the ship along with 20000 minerals, and ask for 10000 minerals in return. The AI always seems to accept. Of course, you lose some resources by doing this, so it only makes sense if you have an excess.
So maybe you can get the AI to accept the sphere world by trading the sphere world + 20000 resources and ask for 10000 resources back. |
Re: Very quick question about Sphereworlds
Yup, that did it6

Re: Very quick question about Sphereworlds
Does that apply to getting its advanced energy weapons when you have focused on other tech areas early games - using resources to get what you want or get rid of ships etc.

Re: Very quick question about Sphereworlds
The AI will generally trade if you give them a good offer. More resources of any type tend to be accepted, and when trading ships, I suspect that they just calculate tonnage to consider whether to trade. So I offer equal tonnage of ships in addition to resources.
In a single-player game with no tech trading and significant AI bonuses, I traded old or badly damaged ships along with resources for the AI's high-tech ships. They didn't seem to mind, though a few races refused to trade with me unless I gave them an extremely generous offer, or used the pleading/demanding tone where appropriate. |
