Groundhog Day was a Bill Murray movie, where every 'day', he wakes up on Groundhog Day. That's about all I really remember about the movie, I only watched it once around when it came out on video (which was a while ago). IIRC, he hates Groundhog Day, gets some kind of curse to live it over and over, and finally becomes a better person at the end. --edit: I've only seen previews for The Butterfly Effect, but I think that will turn out to be a good one. If I can just take the main character seriously, after he did all those silly movies.

I always liked the time loop in Star Trek: TNG's "Cause and Effect" episode where the Enterprise-D keeps going through the same day that concludes with a deadly collision with a starship from the past that's also stuck in the loop.

The Starship from the 23rd century which was Modernized to defend against Borg technology and if you listen to the audio in First Contact right after Picard tells Troi to put the battle on speaker, you can here Kelsey Grammer accept orders on behalf of the Bosemen. Nice touch.

It was a good episode of STNG. How many times did the Enterprise blow up?

I got another time travel movie that defies description: Time Cop. Didn't necessarily loop, but he did go back a couple of times to the same point in time, and his house did blow up twice. What I really liked about this movie was that in the end, none of it happened. The bad guy and his younger self both died at the same time, thus causing time to flow in a different manner in which his life went on as it should have. Too bad he had no memory of the happy life.

I guess you would have to consider the Terminator series as a Time Loop too.

And I forget the name of the movie, but a moder day Aircraft carrier is sent back in time to just prior to the Sneak attack at Pearl Harbor. That was a good movie as well.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">That movie was The Final Countdown. It's coming out on DVD soon, and I've already pre-ordered it. It's almost the perfect movie for me; it has both time travel and Pearl Harbor, 2 of my favorite subjects. Now, if Martin Sheen just wasn't in it.....

Bill Murray is more or less condemned to repeat the day until he get's everything right. It finally gets where he sort realizes what's going on. Every time he screws up, he knows he's just going to wake up again on Goundhog Day. And you're right, it's a very good movie.

If Sarah Conner hadn't of met Kyle Reese originally, then who was the father of John who led the revolution? But John couldn't exist without Kyle Reese making jiggy with Sarah, right? That's what I've always wondered about.

The Final Countdown,
U.S.S. Nimitz goes back in time a few days before Dec 7, 1941. We get to see just how good F-14's are against Mitsubishi Zero fighters. And how to take out a helicopter with a flare gun.
If I could go back in time I would not buy Imperium Galactum, or Moo3, and use the money saved to waterproof Atrocities's house.

This is not a time issue, but it is something I have thought about. Total Recall, I wish they had done a sequel because I don't know if he was in the chair the whole time, or if he was a "spy", I think they did a great job of fooling me, well I was caught completly off guard with the Sixth Sense also so maybe its just me.

there was another sg1 time loop one. very funny. ti'lk and o'neal live the same day over and over and over again for 2-3 months. minor spoiler: one second after time loops, ti'lk gets hit in the face with a door.

I've never heard anything about it; unlike the interview of the director for Blade Runner in which he did admit that Decker was a replicant. As far as Sixth Sense, I too was surprised at the ending.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Hell yeah, it was a fantasy. The way that the whole film completely fulfilled his wish-list (the athletic, classy, ****ty woman etcetc) did it for me. Also that highly improbable machine capable of making an entire planet's atmosphere breathable in less time than it takes for Arnie's eyes and veins to bulge unconvincingly out of his pLasticised head could never exist in anything other than some crappy, exagerrated, quasi-scifi, adolescent gunporn fantasy.

Grrrrr, someone had to mention BladeRunner eh? One of my favorite movies, but no longer available in it's Great Original Theatrical release. (With Harrison Ford Narrating) Now the only Version you(I) can find is the stinky, bland, boaring, Director's Cut. That IMHO is but a shadow of the original. I don't mind a Director's Cut Version, but don't remove the original. I'd like to see how sales would compare if the Origial Version was available for sale at the same time as the Director's Cut. I bet the Original would out sell the DC Version by at least 4-1. (That would be very satisfying, to have the director find out his Version sucks, and that he never should have changed a Great movie into a mediocre one.)

Oh well, nuf said.

I thought that Total Recall was real and not fantasy. Quail (Schwarzenegger) knew it was real when that psychologist guy came and told him to swallow the pill, but he was sweating with fear.

Has anybody read the Total Recall book by Piers Anthony? I haven't read it, so I don't know how close it is to the movie.

For another, he probably *was* afraid- not for his life but because he was about to lose a customer to psychosis which would be bad for business and probably for his own job.

Quaid had lost it, he was living in a dream world. Best place for him too.

The SG1 episode where Jack and Teal'c lived the same day over and over was titled "WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY" from season 4. My favorite part was when they both learned to juggle while helping Daniel translate the pictures of the inscriptions.

Funniest part of that SG1 episode was when Jack and Teal'c open the gate and bring the golf bag. First is Teal'c in golf clothes. Second is Jack swatting balls through the gate. He asks Teal'c how far the planet is on the other end, and it's something like 80,000 light years.

They do this for other movies; I don't understand why they can't for BR. I haven't bought the dvd. I"m holding out for the original Version. Once I get that, if it's not a combined dvd, then I'll get the director's cut. Unless the director has the say on which Version can be released?

I still think it's a pretty good time travel flick, even with Martin Sheen in it. But as I was watching it, I realized that they should have used this film as a Navy recruiting film instead of Top Gun. Top Gun only dealt with pilots. That may make up about 1 or 2 percent of the Navy population. This film showed what aircraft crews did, and spent quite a bit of the movie showing the crew doing their jobs. If anyone was interested, and didn't hope to have any chance to be a pilot, you could get a look at what the enlisted personnel did on a ship. Ships have their officers, but it's the crew who actually run things. That's what I was thinking when I was watching this film. So if you're thinking about a career in the Navy, check this film out.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">I loved this film too. Makes me wish I could have done something like that, since my dad passed away in 2000. But we never had a short-wave radio. We had a cb for a short time in the 70's. Another movie I like with that theme is Field of Dreams. Not really a sci-flick, but you have the ghosts/reincarnations? of some of baseball's greats and then Ray's dad shows up.

Not a strict time-loop movie, cause no one actually travels but they only communicate across time, but it's cool nonetheless.
