Expert player looking for challenge, or masochistic Newbie?

The Glorious Zax Empire in NGC3 at PBW is looking for a new leaderr.
The empire has some assets, some large fleets and has aquired some Talisman ships despite not being religious.
It is challanged by a very strong threeway alliance, the odds of it's long time survival seems poor, but it still has a lot of bite to give.

It is a Merchant Rock Carbon Dioxide race with superior intelligence, has advanced storage techniques and impressive maintnance and in other areas tweaked aswell.

If anyone else in NGC3 can give some more accurate information than my feeble spies have produced feel free to post here.

If you want to give it a try please go ahead!

(Newbie) Galactic Combat 3 in PBW, the first free slot for a long time in this 20 player 255 systems game!

The Vorlon Intel network indicates that they still have some friends willing to sell and loan them resources and ships....

While I am on the other side of the Galaxy and cant speak for the 3 way alliance - would you consider a 5 turn truce to let the new player assess the situation?

I'm not involved in the war, to far away. Only knows what loser and others have posted and what my scout ships have showed me.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Well, depends. If a expert player is going to take over, 5 turns might be a bit much, I'd suggest 3 turns. A masochistic newbie may be granted 5 turns... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

And I can only speak for myself. Roanon, Teal?

As to more accurate informations about the current situation of ZAX: look at this thread. The details revealed here might be interesting. Also take a look at the NGC3 story thread.

Things actually look quite grim for this empire (see thread title http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif ). So we are looking for someone who wants to make the Last fight of this empire as tough as possible for it's enemies http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon6.gif .

I'm interested in this but I'm not a very good RP player since I have neither time nor skills to write stories. Does it matter?

As for the truce, I hesitate to let a few hundred ships sit around doing nothing, I have other enemies that need the attention of these ships which I hoped to be free for other actions soon. As Asmala is not really a bad player, we are already making a bad deal with this exchange http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif A few turns with limited actions might be ok though, check the turn file Asmala and tell us what you think you will need.

Man, you are mad. But if you're interested in this, PM me your e-mail address and I'll tell you everything.

It is complicated.

And poorly organized.

And a losing situation.

Good luck.

Loser, please convert the link in your sig to use an html tag instead of the URL UBB one. The UBB tag breaks when it encounters characters such as % and can not make the hyperlink. The extreme length of it is breaking the page formatting for me. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

Well, I've taken over the empire now. Situation is fairly what I expected. A few systems left and a couple of ships so I can put up some resistance. However I'd appreciate a small truce so I can see what is happening and where. Loser has obviously missed turns so the log, especially combat log, is very loooong. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif

Re: Expert player looking for challenge, or masochistic Newbie?

You've missed at least one turn since there is at least two turns' worth combat replays. About 50 or so. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Roanon February 4th, 2004 06:28 PM

Re: Expert player looking for challenge, or masochistic Newbie?

Loser did miss the turn when he quit. Not many serious combats, though.
What kind of truce for how long do you need? I have already given orders for this turn, but no serious advances. I can stop where I am for 1 or 2 turns. Your choice, what time do you think you will need? The remaining planets in systems that are already liberated will be continued to be conquered, of course.
I think Ruatha will wait for your turn before processing, if it is within reasonable time. How long do you think you will need to do this turn?

Re: Expert player looking for challenge, or masochistic Newbie?

Roanon, I'd need a truce about 50 turns to recover but I'll be happy if you stop advancing, say, at 3-5 turns. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif Yep, no serious battles. Only few ships lost (about 100) and some planets (about 50) http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

I'm starting to do my turn now but it seems it'll take some time. I don't even want to think how long the turn takes from bigger players. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif

Good luck Asmala for you will need it. Having a look at the trade figures is more than enough to make me question the current status of the Zax Society. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif All our wishes our survival go to your Society on behalf of our Republic. (This Empire was said to be in a very bad situation, but it was nothing compared to the Zax. But who knows after all what sorts of tricks Asmala can pull out from under his sleeve?)

No one listened to me when I announced the treachery of the Kilrah and suggested everyone break their alliances with them. Now everyone is paying the price. My time is limited, but seems to have been extended while the Kilrah attends to bigger fish...

Thanks Alneyan, I will indeed need luck. I've just done my turn and I noticed that only luck beyond imagination could save the empire. I just try to set as high price to my planets as possible, but I fear they will go almost for nothing. But time will tell the price. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Re: Expert player looking for challenge, or masochistic Newbie?

Dear Greybeard, we indeed still are honoring our promises. Please note that we never promised that we would attack the Nyxian Empire. Although we have been considering it, and it was a tough decision and a close call. We then did what we always promised, and that was to enter the Nyxian/Zaxxon war. We are deeply sorry that our choice of sides did not match your implications, but we guess there are other empires that are hurt even more by this decision.

The Kilrah/Argon war is a totally independent decision, and was mostly caused by the numerous border conflicts between you and our ally, the Frost Collective - we just had to honor our promise that our humble empire would aid them against a superior foe. We really admire your spirited resistance. This confirms that we indeed have made the correct decision, and chosen a worthy foe who is not surrendering to despair when outnumbered. Someone who really is worth to find a honorable death while fighting, someone probably a real Kilrah by heart. You will always have a special place of honor in our gallery of fallen enemies - should you finally fall.
