Re: OT- Movie Review Question

Looks like someone's ready to raid the WalMart $5.50 dvd bin. Over the years, I've seen bits and parts of these movies, but I don't think I've seen any of these all the way through. And that includes Volunteers. I'm thinking about buying that one myself.

Re: OT- Movie Review Question

I have seen “Kung Pow: Enter the Fist”, it has it’s moments but still, I would have to say that if you (for example) pay $5.50 for it Wal-Mart is getting the better deal.

Re: OT- Movie Review Question

Super Troopers is one of those Low-Brow, Low Budget Comedies that got funding based on the success of American Pie, Road Trip, and maybe one other quasi-successful film that same summer. it is stupid and shamefull, but it has a few bits of entertaining dialog and a few quotable moments.

If you like stupid-funny you may well enjoy it. I have not seen the others.

Re: OT- Movie Review Question

If I were you, I'd just check them out on IMDB.COM, tesco. I use that site so much, it has a revered place right beside this forum, PBW, and my Ratings site on the Link bar http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif .

[edit] Oh, and I think Volunteers is the one with John Candy and Tom Hanks. Can't go wrong with much of any Tom Hanks movies.

Re: OT- Movie Review Question

I have seen Army of Darkness, which I liked, since it shows what an army of the undead is like. It made me rent both Evil Dead 1 and 2. Evil Dead 2 is practically a better remake of 1, which I found dissapointing (1 that is, not 2). Super Troopers is quite entertaining I thought. I had a copy of it, but it doesn't work since Divx upgraded or something. When I went to the cinema to see it I had a private screening (which means out of 400 or 500 seats I was the only person watching http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif )

Also you may have seen "Stupid Troopers", but I made the mistake of watching "Matrix: Revolting"

Re: OT- Movie Review Question

Just picked up both Volunteers and The Truman Show at the Wal-Mart $5.50 dvd bin. I've been wanting to get Truman since it came out, but never got around to doing so. now, my tardiness has paid off. I wander what other major movies will get marked down soon.

What's wrong with Super Troopers? 'He's already pulled over! He can't pull over any farther!' http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon6.gif

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">To me, it looks like a movie full of the stupid humor I haven't liked for about 20 years. I saw about 5 minutes of it on HBO or Cinemax awhile back, and it didn't improve my opinion of the movie one bit. Maybe one of these days if I see it on cable and can catch it at the beginning, I might watch it. I doubt, though, that I'll ever buy it.

Stupid Troopers

The Shower scene for one. I do not feel that it was done in good taste, or in good humor.

I guess if your "stoned" the movie would be quite funny, but since I saw it sober, I did not laugh once.

However, the person who recommended it to me saw it and laughed his head off. Of course that was after he and his friends had eaten "special" brownies and had far to much to drink. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

"Who wants a moustache ride?"
"I do I do!"

I actually own the movie. Although I won't be catching Club Dread in the theaters. But seriously, what do you want from a troupe that names itself 'Broken Lizard'? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Speaking of troupes, did you know they've got a sequel to The Gamers coming out?
