How do you build a...
cloaking facility?
Version 1.91 says in its history file, 4. Note - Spaceyards will not work on cloaked planets or ships. 5. Fixed - Cloaked planets were allowing you to add multiple spaceyards to them. 6. Fixed - A planet that was damaged and lost its cloaking facility would not decloak. 7. Fixed - A planet that scrapped its cloaking facility would not decloak. And I'm like, "how do you build a cloaking facility on a planet?" If anyone can help, it would be much apperciated. |
Re: How do you build a...
You have to mod one into the game first. There are none in the stock game.

Re: How do you build a...
Speaking of building things, how do you go about building a ring or sphere world? I've only done it once before, and that was a couple of years ago. I've forgotten how to do it.

How to build a ring or sphere world. In the Un Modded game.
First you need to study for the required tecks. You need to get way up in Stellar Manipulation to get the Cable, Plate, and Ring world ship components. The Sphere world component is, I think the Last level. You also have to study Star Base construction to the end as well. You will also need a fleet of ships with the Shipyard component ( I like to use a set of 11). Design 3 types of the largest star base. One with the Ring or Sphere World unit. One with the Plate component. One with the Cable component. Pick a star, hopefully somewhere in your area, and start sending your construction ships there. The first ship there should start the Ring or Sphere Star Base. This will take almost 3 Years to build. The other ships should build the Plate and Cable Star bases. They take almost a Year to build. For the Ring world you need a base with the Ring world unit. You need five bases Each of the Cable and Plate units. For the Sphere world you need a base with the Sphere world unit. You need ten bases Each of the Cable and Plate units. I usually mothball the Plate and Cable bases until the Ring or Cable base is done. I then Un-mothball them when ready. Once all of the bases are done you select the Ring or cable base and give it the Construct Order. All of the bases are then assembled into the Ring or Sphere world. It will have your Race's atmosphere and native planet type. Just send a colony ship and Lots of People and you will have a nice new colony. A Ring world has room for 100 facilities. It has like 150% of all resources. It holds Lots of population. I forget what the Sphere world has. But I hope to find out soon. Not I Just finished my first Ring world in my current game. I have a second one on the way. I am going to start a Sphere world soon, but the Last level of Stellar Manipulation is over 3 Million points!!!! |
Re: How do you build a...
Thanks, Power Man. I know I had done it once, but that was a long time ago. My games usually don't Last this long before I'm either getting my behind handed back to me, or a new mod comes out and I lose interest in the old game. But I got the tech for the ring and sphere worlds in this current game I'm playing; I just didn't have level 3 in star bases. I forgot that part. I was trying to remember how to get those big components in place. I'll do the research on starbases tonight and hopefully get started on my ring world and sphere world I want to build.

Re: How do you build a...
A Ringworld can hold:
- 100 facilities - 32 Billion population - 64 MT of Cargo Space Sphereworld can hold: - 200 facilities - 64 Billion population - 128 MT of Cargo Space |
Re: How do you build a...
Sphereworlds are very useful but only if you are bogged down in a advanced tech game with 100+ systems and are looking for a resource / population advantage.

Re: How do you build a...
I love ring and sphere worlds. I seldom if ever get the chance in my games to build them, but at least I love them.

Re: How do you build a...
Yes sphereworlds are good - the only way i find to use is a pre map that setting em up - otherwise the other alternative is a really good run of luck with alien ruins - i once had a 255 map with 60 alien ruins close to me and i got a good run of stellar manipulation and got ringworld tech as a result - built em and quickly crushed the enemy.

Re: How do you build a...
Back to the original topic (sort of), I noticed that the planetary cloak only works when you actually build the facility with the modded ability. If you mod one of your starting facilities with a cloak it will not work. Unless you scrap the facility and start over.

Re: How do you build a...
I've built some sphere worlds but never any ring worlds. I don't want to use up a star by building a ring world so I wait until I research sphere worlds. But I have never played a game long enough to completely fill up the sphere worlds I constructed.

Re: How do you build a...
I laboured away for ages to create a planet builder, then I send it to a system made of nothing but asteroids.
"Ha,Ha !" I say "Now I can build a new planet every turn". Instead I get a message informing me I can't do it because there are no stars in the system. Now I have to build a star creator. To avoid further setbacks, can the star be built in empty space, or do I need to use it on a storm or asteroid?. |
Re: How do you build a...
Earlier it was said "I usually mothball the pating and cable starbases until the "..
To unmothball them costs alot, better to put the queue on hold and restart it one turn before the generator is built. Ships also costs alot. Therefore I use lot's of shipyard ships(! Hmm, logical gap here...) Send one to each star and builds a construction starbase there, that starbase starts construction of the generator base. Meanwhile 10 ships with spaceyards components zips around to each of these stars and builds 10 new bases with spaceyards, then heads off for the next and the next and the... These new 10 bases starts construction of the plating and cable bases, put's queue on hold until one turn before the generator is finished. After that you have a ringworld and 11 construction bases to build weapon platforms and whatever... To build sphereworlds increse number of bases.. |
Re: How do you build a...
You should be able to build the star where you wish it to be, and you would be able to build a ringworld/sphere world over this star while converting the asteroids into actual planets.

I got a nasty reminder of this fact once. I was a crystaline race and I was staying in one system. I used the crystaline resource generators on every planet, then I built a ringword, and suddenly had no income. D'oh! |
Re: How do you build a...
Here is a planetary cloaking facility that I found here on a thread about a month or so ago. Just copy and paste it into the facilities folder.

Re: How do you build a...
*Coughs* Obviously, who said a ringworld serves as a star for planet creation purposes? Oh, wait, that was me. I guess it says a lot about my *Ahem* love for Ringworlds. Thanks for correcting me on this matter!
