My isp just upgraded my dsl line so its 2mb/256k and I pay $50 a month and I was wonderng how much everyone else pays for their connection. Please specify if you don't live in the US.

Re: OT - Connection costs
Are you only interested in broadband costs, or would you like dial-up prices, too?

Re: OT - Connection costs
Here at work the only decent DSL we could get is from Verizon and we pay $120.00 a month for 1.5/768... This is for a business account also...

Re: OT - Connection costs
Our cable connection costs us (US) $29.95 per month. I think (not sure) it just went up a dollar or two the Last month...so that would make it $31.95 (or so).

Also make sure you say the speed of your connection along with the price. |
Re: OT - Connection costs
In Finland 256k/256k ADSL is 39 euros.

Re: OT - Connection costs
Here in Virginia, America, my connection is a 2mbps dsl line with earthlink. I think we pay between forty and fifty dollars a month for it.

Re: OT - Connection costs
Funny prices. In my town (Tagnrog, Russia) SDSL connection costs nothing more than 100$ for 1Gb of traffic and 1000$ for 20 Gb. Speed: up to 2Mbps.
No unlimited access at all (just for dialup). [ April 20, 2004, 22:02: Message edited by: aiken ] |

Re: OT - Connection costs
I pay £16.00 per month for a 150k download ???k (over 200 I think) upload with plus.net. I get 30meg webspace, infinite email addresses and probably a bunch of other stuff as well. They are a good company. They also run an affiliate scheme, if anyone is thinking of signing up.
I'm sure there are cheaper deals (my brother in law has a *very* fast connection for about £20 per month) but I like the company and the extra services. For example I don't think my Bro-in-law gets webspace or anything like that with his account. I pay another £1 per month for the dogscoff.co.uk domain name. |
Re: OT - Connection costs
To bad Satellite is such a rip off or esle I would go for that.
Hell if I could I would lay my own cable line from here to the road and get ComCast to hook me up. I would love for Qwest to get of their asses and upgrade the ancient phone lines out here so I could get DSL. Who would have thought that 20 years ago I would be willing to give up my old star wars crap for a chance at a good connection rate. God how things have changed. 20 years ago it was all about getting to class on time and now its all about getting the best ISP. Is this a blessing or a curse? If only I could go back in time 20 years, to be 14 again and know what I know now..... Bill Gates eat your heart out baby..... its William's World now. |

Re: OT - Connection costs
I'm paying about $41,000 a year for download speeds of about 1Mbps on average (limit 1.5GB transfer in an hour, or 10GB in a day, exceed that and you're cut off). That includes tuition, room, board, lab fees, books, access to alumni, etc. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif
Probably not what you're looking for, but couldn't resist http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon6.gif And at home, can only get dialup. Whenever I see broadband advertised, it's usually in the $20-$40 a month range, for a max 100kbps DSL line (which from what I hear, usually only hit the 100kbps max at around 4am, when nobody else is using it). |
