Re: It\'s freezing here ad I must play with mittens :)
Well here in California it is warm and that is good because they messed up the energy distribution here so bad I probably would go broke paying for the electricity to run a heater. I am hoping I can still afford to run my computer I will find out when the send me the first bill since the "problem".

Re: It\'s freezing here ad I must play with mittens :)
No snow here (yet) in good ol' NC, but if we were getting precipitation it would definitely be of the frozen variety...
My thermostat is screaming at 75 degrees and I still have to keep my feet wrapped in a blanket. I'm getting a little tired of all this winter business myself. |
Re: It\'s freezing here ad I must play with mittens :)
I just received my Indiana Gas bill. They had been warning us that the natural gas supply was tight and that bills may be 40-60% higher. They lied. My bill was something on the order of 110% higher. I was not pleased.
Being disembodied the cold doesn't effect me much, but my wife likes it warm. I keep a small spritzer bottle of water near my optical for visitors to use on their hair, wouldn't due for them to burst into flames while visiting. Did I mention my wife likes to keep it warm? ------------------ I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that. |
It\'s freezing here ad I must play with mittens :)
Umm, I'm really cold here... Anyone else ever try and type or play with gloves/mittens?
We have sooooooooo much snow. |
Re: It\'s freezing here ad I must play with mittens :)
Yikes, that's horrible!
|
Re: It\'s freezing here ad I must play with mittens :)
We had more snow in December in Des Moines than we did all Last year. The temps have been single digits to below zero. Good 'ole midwest, yadda yadda yadda yadda. Could be worse....

Re: It\'s freezing here ad I must play with mittens :)
my gas bill from Ohio's Columbia Gas went from 30-45 dollars a month Last year to 120-150 dollars a month... And it has yet to be over 35 degrees F...

Re: It\'s freezing here ad I must play with mittens :)
Windy and rainy - Rain - rain, rain - and more rain...and 40F In Washington State...our gas bills supposedly went up 38% I havent seen the actual bill yet.. it better not be 110%.
The california situation is costing us up here too.... |
Re: It\'s freezing here ad I must play with mittens :)
My gas bill was like 40 yuan, that's around 3 dollars. I'd say that's ONE good reason to have communism among a million others that suck.
Beijing is freezing though. -12 degrees, I have a cold right now. |

Re: It\'s freezing here ad I must play with mittens :)
Try typing with chemical gloves on. Especially in a darkened room with full chem gear on, and gloves with the ends of the fingers an inch too long and wet. Then factor in a face sheild, on top of a drydent helmet. Oh ya, alarms blaring, and no room to move in. Did I forget something, oh yes I did. The poorly designed ergonomically incorrect position of the key board in relationship to both the monitor and you.
Try that, and then tell me about it being difficult. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif ------------------ "We've made too many compromises already, too many retreats! Re: It\'s freezing here ad I must play with mittens :)
oh yeah, i must have forgotten to consider all of our compatriates out there who are engaged in chemical warfare and are forced to play SE4 from WITHIN their overpressured AFV while wearing full NBC gear. in a firefight. im amazed they are able to take time away from being shot at to post here and play their turns. what with all the HERF weapons scrambling their electronics and all (thank goodness for the faraday cages). i must have forgotten them. sorry, i have it easy.

Re: It\'s freezing here ad I must play with mittens :)
Hmm back when I was in the service and wore chemical gear we just played cards. I see things have progressed in 20 years http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif. Shuffling the cards was a bit hard but at least I don't think they could cheat with those gloves on.

That's almost as much for my mortgage, you must live on the West coast. Here in Central MASS, $1700 will get you a nice house. ------------------ Regards, KiloOhm |
Re: It\'s freezing here ad I must play with mittens :)
Southern Indiana $1700 will get you two nice homes. I remember flipping out when my company sent me to the Sun labs in Menlo Park and one of the techs was telling me about housing prices. Yikes!

Re: It\'s freezing here ad I must play with mittens :)
Hey HAL, I just remembered that there is one site that has an excellent shipset designed just in your honor.
Visit http://www.geocities.com/kuatdy/ and check it out yourself. They have also lots of Star Wars and other shipsets too. |
Re: It\'s freezing here ad I must play with mittens :)
Many thanks! The picture of my optic is great. You realize, of course, that the movie was biased against me? It really didn't do my side of the story justice. It didn't show all Dave's bad side at all.

Re: It\'s freezing here ad I must play with mittens :)
KiloOhm-
Must be nice. My Boston apartment is around 1200 a month. I'm on the red line out towards Medford. It's a nice neighborhood, but it ain't that great. My columbus ohio apartment, at about 50 sq ft smaller than my boston, is a paltry 625 by comparison... |
Re: It\'s freezing here ad I must play with mittens :)
2 cents...
"location, location, location" My 2 story, 1800 sq home on 5 acres is $460 monthly (including property taxes.) And no it is not a dump, in fact has hardwood floors, walk in closets, etc. You just have to love the upper midwest. Of course -30 degrees could cause some people problems. |
Re: It\'s freezing here ad I must play with mittens :)
Here in Dayton, Ohio that $1700.00 a month will get you a nice house AND a good looking woman to keep you warm so you don't have such an outrageous heat bill. But on the down side it's a 14 hour drive to the nearest ocean, so I'm not sure it's such a great deal after all. We like to say it's a great place to live, but you wouldn't want to visit there.

Re: It\'s freezing here ad I must play with mittens :)
In Des Moines (western 'burbs actually) $1700 will get you a new 2000 square foot house on less than a quarter acre. The housing market here is ridiculous compared to the average household income ($45,000 +/-). According to some of internet search engines, it is more expensive to live in Des Moines than any of the surrounding cities, except Chicago. Oh well, it's better than living in "dueling banjo" country. (odd coming from an Iowan, eh?) http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif
