Re: New Stickies! Just what makes a thread "stickable"?
I also believe that the House should be made a sticky.
|
Re: New Stickies! Just what makes a thread "stickable"?
How about adding it to the "Important SEIV Information & stuff" thread? "Modding Questions, Answers, & Ideas" will go there eventually too, or so it is planned.
It is not because I don't think "House" should be sticky but to many sticky threads will clutter the board. What do you think? |
Re: New Stickies! Just what makes a thread "stickable"?
Too many stickies and we end up like the City of Heros official forums..the board is so cluttered that in no logged in view the entire first PAGE is stickies.

Re: New Stickies! Just what makes a thread "stickable"?
In my opinion, we have reached the dangerous level for number of sticky topics...
|
Re: New Stickies! Just what makes a thread "stickable"?
Surely "house" would fit as a link inside one of the stickies. Best to stickie Categorys, then group things inside them. (a very few of them) http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

New Stickies! Just what makes a thread "stickable"?
I'm pleased to see that the SEV, modding, and PBW status threads have been made "sticky". http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon6.gif Just one little suggestion...
Add "House of 1001+ Avatars" to the list! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif EDIT: conjuntion junction, needed that function... [ June 02, 2004, 01:27: Message edited by: General Woundwort ] |

Re: New Stickies! Just what makes a thread "stickable"?
Too many stickies, and they'll be declared Mega Evil by the other threads. The resulting alliance of both on and off-topic Posts would shift the forum's balance of power and surely trigger the use of Nucleonic Torpedoes, thereby killing us all.

Re: New Stickies! Just what makes a thread "stickable"?
Just checked and The "Avatar Emporium" is linked to in the Important SEIV Information & stuff thread (which is itself a sticky) so there is no longer any need to make my avatar thread a sticky.
I aprieciate the support and effort that has gone into making my thread a 'sticky' but it's not really necessary. Thanks, and have a great day. Cheers! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif P.S. now if Shrapnel were to use all my avatars in the 'official' place (when you edit your profile) then that would be the ultimate honor. And they would be available to all the members of the shrapnel forums and not just us se4 fanatics. Nudge, nudge, wink, wink, know what I mean? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif EDIT: Of course the 'reserved' avatars should be excluded and not made avaialable to the public. Gandalf at community.net or alt-hacker.org or sdMUD.org or dom2minions.com or techno-mage.com I could name a bunch more but those are the ones that get checked thru the day rather than once a day. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif [ June 01, 2004, 15:30: Message edited by: Gandalf Parker ] |

The best solution is to have 1 or 2 sticky threads that link to other important threads, rather than spamming the browsers with tons of sticky threads. [ June 02, 2004, 00:40: Message edited by: Imperator Fyron ] |
Re: New Stickies! Just what makes a thread "stickable"?
Well, now that DEG's avatars are in the Shrapnel avatar server, the need for a "sticky" thread for them is pretty much moot. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Re: New Stickies! Just what makes a thread "stickable"?
Think of all the time and effort that went into this thread and all those avatars. David the Avatar King is a title well earned.

Re: New Stickies! Just what makes a thread \"stickable\"?
hummmm..... I was so excited. I've been wondering what in the world this "stickie" buisness was all about. Did someone spill something on a thread and make it sticky? Yuck!
Then Lo and behold, while doing a search on another topic, I find: "Re: New Stickies! Just what makes a thread "stickable"?". NOW, my greatest question will be answered. My bewilderment will be magically removed. I WILL BE ALL KNOWING!!! (uhh, I need to get a grip. Anyway...) Disappointment..... :{ Where is the answer to this wonderful question? Oh well, I guess I'll remain in the dubious fog of the not knowing all the secrets of the universe. To bad, I was so looking forward to the elevation in status. Fuzzie |
Re: New Stickies! Just what makes a thread \"stick
See those 6 threads at the top of the list in this forum that never go any further down, regardless of how long ago they were last posted in? Those threads are this forum's "stickies", called such because they "stick" to the top of the forum. Making an ordinary thread "sticky" or removing that status from an existing "sticky" is one of the special abilities of moderators and administrators on these boards, though ordinary forum members can request that a thread be "stickied" if they feel it is worthy of such status.

Thanks Douglas! Now I am so enlightened :}
