To all my PBW games: notice of leave and looking for replacements
As the title says it, I will be away from Saturday, 26th of June to Saturday, 3rd of July. So I am currently looking for replacements in the following games:
- New Galactic Combat 4: Do you enjoy fighting for your survival? Do you love diplomacy when it is the only way out to save your hide? Then do not wait and take over this Empire. You have about three systems, fourty ships, and a war with an Empire quite a lot stronger than you. - Adamant 011: A strong economy, a Magical race with a focus on religion and an advanced research. A war has just been started however, so you will likely see some action. - Adamant 012: Another war, but this time *all* is put towards this war. Beware, however, for the foe is suicidal and will do all that he can think of to save the day. - Fantasy Empires First Game: It has just started, so you have a lot of freedom about what to do there. Would you like to play an Elven race caught between two orc tribes? If so, what are you waiting for? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif - The Great Experiment 3: You have the best economy available, the biggest Empire and the biggest fleet of all Empires. Expect a lot of micromanagement and quite a lot of diplomacy, as the biggest threat for this Empire is to be declared MEE and find an alliance of ten or so other Empires. - PvK Proportions Game: A small Empire with a strong focus on Temporal and fighters, and diplomacy remains paramount here. If wished, you could very well get involved in a war or two, but nobody should start up a fight against you. My other games should not require a replacement, and so are not listed here. Thanks in advance, Alneyan (Edited because of spelling. 3th?! Tsk... Last I checked, the word after second wasn't quite thirth or some such thing, but third. *Slaps self*) [ June 20, 2004, 12:17: Message edited by: Alneyan ] |
Re: To all my PBW games: notice of leave and looking for replacements
Normally, people will just wait for you to get back to continue games. Perhaps it might be better to check each game and see what the players say before offering to be replaced.
And when you say replaced, do you mean only during the time you are gone (or do you mean permanently)? Finally, if any of these games are rated for you, that causess a problem. So, if you're heading down to St. Tropez, we expect GOOD pics to document the beach there ( http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif ). |

Re: To all my PBW games: notice of leave and looking for replacements
Well, you could argue that the said player won't alter the outcome of the game much, as he would only have to handle retrofitting, colonization and the incredibly interesting prospect of micromanaging. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif (The AI can handle the rest without too much problem)
Hmm, I am not making this look very appealing, am I? At least I am being honest I guess. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif Thanks Greybeard, I emailed Geoschmo (and virtually all the owners of the games I am here) to tell them about my leave. If possible, I would rather not grind the game to a standstill because of my own absence, but if I am not the only one away it could be another story. |
Re: To all my PBW games: notice of leave and looking for replacements
have fun... I am too busy to help out as a replacement this time... but next time... P.S. you can remove Paranoia2 from your list

Re: To all my PBW games: notice of leave and looking for replacements
I'll be away from June 27 through the 30th too, and would be willing to have NGC4 and TGE put on hold while you are gone.

Re: To all my PBW games: notice of leave and looking for replacements
I sent an email to you about TGE3 yesterday Slynky, did you receive it? Or, knowing me, I sent it to the wrong address at your work. And I will also have to email the players in the 2vs2 game.
For the other games, I will indeed put my Empires on auto-pilot if nobody is willing to take over. The replacements would be intented to be temporary, but if someone does love a given gime, we shall see. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif I am not going to St Tropez or anywhere in this vicinity. (Too hot! *Grumbles as he is wont to do*) I would gladly go to Ireland or even Scotland, but I guess that won't be for this year, and... Ahem, I am digressing here. |
Re: To all my PBW games: notice of leave and looking for replacements
If NGC4, TGE3 were put on hold, that would be great for me - I'm gone from 24th - 29th...

Re: To all my PBW games: notice of leave and looking for replacements
NGC4 will run about on time (approximation), so set the "Ai will make no changes during simul turn", the same goes for NeGoC5, sorry.

Not a problem at all!

Re: To all my PBW games: notice of leave and looking for replacements
I am still looking for a replacement in NGC4. Why this game? Merely because this Empire is in such a bad situation that leaving it alone for three turns is a death sentence (in fact, I will leave the AI in charge of the Empire, as it is badly needed.)
Why is it so bad? Basically, you have about thirty planets, share most of your systems with two other Empires, are at war with one of them (and I just received another war declaration this turn ; not sure if it is an AI glitch or an actual war), have a military not worth mentioning, do not have a great Empire setup, and to finish with, you have the pleasure of having the Dreaded Neutral happiness type. The only saving grace is your allies, which mean you can (and will in fact) survive, as long as this Empire is ruled. The Neutral happiness type unfortunately means you will either have to wait for all your worlds to riot, or use the rather gamey trick of making Non-Interference agreements, then breaking them, and starting again. I went for the second option when all my worlds save three rioted. (I'm sorry, but the message "Population of system XXX is growing unhappy because of our recent battle *victories*, sire" bothers me a lot. If you cannot even win battles without rioting, what are you going to do?) So, this Empire is looking for a competent ruler, skillful in the ways of diplomacy and survival. It won't take long to play, as you just won't have much to play with, so feel free to answer if you believe you would be interested by such an Empire. Thanks in advance! Alneyan |
Re: To all my PBW games: notice of leave and looking for replacements
Alneyan,
I'll give this a go. Can't promise any miracles, but if you e-mail me the details and a briefing on the diplomatic situation, I'll do my best. Mark |
Re: To all my PBW games: notice of leave and looking for replacements
Thanks a lot Mark! Miracles aren't expected, and your only mission is to survive until assistance can reach you. I will be emailing you the details in the afternoon, along with the password for the game.

Re: To all my PBW games: notice of leave and looking for replacements
And here we are again, one month after my first leave. Both home computers went down for the past 36 hours, and so I failed to upload any turn in the meantime.
The situation has been somewhat resolved, but there will likely be more downtime later on. So, my apologises to whoever is waiting for me to do my turns; I will be doing my best to catch up. |
Re: To all my PBW games: notice of leave and looking for replacements
I'll put the games I host that you're in on ALPU till you recover.

Re: To all my PBW games: notice of leave and looking for replacements
And here we are again. I am currently not on my computer, which collapsed while I wasn't watching for Murphy. So, I will be away for several days while trying to fix up the computers home.
Since I am not going to be back too soon, feel free to kick me out of some of my games if you can find a replacement. More specifically: - Pairs: I guess you will take over Primitive? Third time in three months it happens. Grr. - Fantasy Empires: Spoon, you should surrender my Empire to the undead; I suffered a lot, so there isn't really a need to delay the game for me. At least, do not wait for me and run the turns. - NGC4: A replacement would probably be better here, since my Empire is fairly powerful (I took over three turns ago). - All the others are left to the discretion of the game owner. My apologises for the inconveniences. *Grumbles a lot* I'm off to resolve my problems with a volley of a thousand Ripper Beams (planetary core mounted). Edit: since PBW is down, I cannot update the passwords that are wrong on PBW (I should have done so before indeed). So, if you take over NGC4, ask Renegade my password (it is the one that didn't work for NGC5 I sent you in private), and if you take over Adamant 014, ask Fyron to reset the password (I don't recall what it is myself). Re: To all my PBW games: notice of leave and looking for replacements
I'll do your "pairs" turns, no problems there.
Good luck on getting back up http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif |
Re: To all my PBW games: notice of leave and looking for replacements
I'll put the two games I host and you're in on ALPU...

Re: To all my PBW games: notice of leave and looki
If you happen to be in a game with me, please note our service is currently suffering downfall and can not be expected to be always reliable until further notice. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this temporary problem, and thank you for your kind patience.
In other words, my connection is all but reliable, and is fairly slow when it works. So you should expect some delays in me playing my turns, or even a lack of said turns if Murphy makes another strike. |
