(very stupid) AI at very late stage of the game

Im currently playing for the first time game vs computer opponents, a game long ago won - just to see those nasty system destroyers at work.

I kinda like it when i get message from puny primitives: "U grow have gone too far ! We smash u face !" - and 3 rounds later every single of their systems get turned into a blackhole system (at the same time) http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif

I have already built a ringworld at every star in every system i own (as i had nothing better to do). They all are filled with resource storages, weaponplatforms and figters.

My fleets combined sitting at the single warppoint out of my 2 clusters of systems (cluster type galaxy) fill almost the entire combat screen when some one comes to visit...

What should i do next ?
I think i will have to kill everyone else in the galaxy .. but i cant figure why they start war agains my huge empire, when i have demonstraded what happens when u try that. Kinda stupid of them to start a war agains empire with 20+ times the score :/

The AI empires couldnt grow fast enough - even though i let them attack my systems almost unchecked (didnt mine my warppoints, nor blockade them - untill i had already won). They just plain SUCKED ! Well, ok.. i DID lose few systems, but i still won the game - in the end ..

Id like to think im just so uber leet player the AI is no match for me - but i know better http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif
Those TDM AI races kick my arse up n down the nebulae, BUT ! I couldnt get TDM and FQM to work together after installing v1.91 patch http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif - i miss the nasty AIs in the mods.

Is there some way to make them work together again - i _think_ i did it all as they r supposed to in the FQM homepage, but then again its me here .. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">The 20+ is the reason; you are considered the Mega-Evil Empire, according to your settings.txt, so all AIs will declare war on you

Actually... if you are installing FQM Deluxe, you can safely just use the FQM Deluxe data files. All formations in TDM are in FQM Deluxe. No data files from the TDM folder are needed. The help file was written before Ultimate Strategies Mod was incorporated into FQM Deluxe.

To combine TDM with FQM Deluxe:
Install FQM Deluxe. Rename the folder "TDM-FQM Deluxe" or something like that. Copy the Pictures folder (the folder itself, not a selection of its contents) from your TDM install into the "TDM-FQM Deluxe" folder. Select YES to overwrite. Now, you are done. Simple, huh? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

ROFL !

Well, this must be a record, surely ...

I make a post and before i get down to tracking typos i missed before posting it - i got 2 replies http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif

Anyways..

So, FQM deluxe = TDM+FQM already ??

Damn, no wonder it didnt work then, after i messed up with them files ... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

The reason i have tried to combine them was that i wanted those nasty AIs and more planets in each system - though i dont really like them "radiated" and "machineworld" planet types, couldnt convert their athmosphere for some reason :/

Oh well, i guess ill to n try "fixing" the combo-mod - again http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

I thought TDM needed the Components.txt file for the specially tagged components for certain race's ship designs. And FQM Components.txt has the smaller ring- and shpere-worlds.

There were other changes in TDM as well, weren't there?

We need SE5 - with its scriptable AI ability and a more complex game which will allow the AI to pursue more strategies against you.

where can I find this FQM mod and what does it do?

good chance I already have it but I'm at work and get confused over which mods I've DL'd & installed - mainly cuz I'm trying to play thru all of them - I'm on the DevNull mod now - great game so far.

http://fqm.spaceempires.net/

All information can be found there, with details on how to combine FQM or FQM Deluxe with TDM Modpack http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Hmm - I went to spaceempires.net - did a search on the DL site for "FQM" and only got a Adamantium or whatever mod called up... is that the same thing?

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Oh no. It just has the Formations from TDM in it already. It does not have the shipsets or AIs, just the Data file changes. This is why you need to copy the Pictures folder from TDM into FQM Deluxe, but you do not need any data from TDM (as long as you are moving TDM stuff into an FQM folder, of course; if you start with TDM as the base, you have to copy the FQM data folder into it; this is why I recommend using FQM Deluxe as the base).

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Hmm... the atmospheres should be convertible, unless I forgot to add some entries to SectType.txt... what atmosphere type were you using? If you want to remove them, just open up Data\PlanetSize.txt, scroll to the bottom, and delete the entries for them. You might have to delete entries in SectType.txt as well, though I do not think you need to. This will make it so that you can not use the mod with others in multiplayer, but if it is just for single player, there is no problem in doing so.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Nope. The only data file changes in TDM are additional formations. All of them are in Ultimate Strategies Mod, which is built in to FQM Deluxe. There are no tags added to components. The FQM components file does indeed have those small ringworld components, which is another reason why I said only the FQM Deluxe data folder needs to be used.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">No. Adamant has the FQM Deluxe mod incorporated into it. Although, I do suggest you check out Adamant as well. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif In the SE.net downloads section, the mod is named "Fyron's Quadrant Mod Deluxe", not FQM, so that is why it would not show up in the search. I will add FQM to the description somewhere to get around this problem... anyways, just go to http://fqm.spaceempires.net/ as RD linked to.
