Phosna Refit

I finially learned some new modeling techniques and my old Phosna shipset was the first to get a makeover.

Here is the new ship:

And the old one for comparison:

Awsome, simply awsome. I am in awe and shock as I look at this fantastic ship of yours. I am humbled. Must have more.

hhhmm even it looks good, if someone looks only at the technique.

But maybe you should look for a girlfriend, or have a discussion with her, why you have made that ship look like that :-)

Good work, but take care about that other thing ..

I totally do not get what this post is talking about. Look like what? What other thing? What do women have to do with anything? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/confused.gif

Re: Phosna Refit

The instant impression of the new ship also give me the impression of a phallos symbol.... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon6.gif

Besides from that, I think they are both good and so different that it would be a waste to loose the first, why not two different shipsets, a new one for the new ships with a new name, perhaps two related empires?

Kevin Arisa July 21st, 2004 09:09 AM

Re: Phosna Refit

Hmm. People see the strangest things. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif

Anyway, the new ship is closer to what I imagined the Phosna ships to look like. Therefore, if one of them is getting a rename it will be the older one. Maybe distant cousins of the Phosna, seperated by a cosmic catastrophy. Bah, I'll figure that all out eventually.

Ok....so it does look kinda like that. But if anyone thinks It REALLY looks like that needs to see a doctor quick...or a biologist http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

But dam is that impressive. Your shipsets have been great so far. The shipset you called the "Eneron" http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif was good as well, if not complete.

The older vessel could be a fighter?

Very good work!

Very very nice. Will be great to behold the completion of the set. Are they a carnivore plant type or more like the Floral Empire?

Kevin Arisa July 21st, 2004 05:59 PM

Re: Phosna Refit

Using the old set as fighters is an interesting idea. If i lose inspiration that would be one of my backup plans. And as for the "unusual" similarites of my ship, that is entirely dependant on the viewer and i cannot emphasise enough how unintentional it was.

Anywho, the Phosna are very similar to the United Flora. Phosna are super peaceful and serene. Unless you mess with the environment. Then they become evironmental extremists and will kill you for even suggesting to burn a forest. Not to mention they are very religious. Shipset will be finished as soon as possible. However, it will not be neo-standard. I ran out of ideas for the ships. sorry. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

Sorry about the Eneron not being completed. My computer crashed and I was never able to, eh, "aquire" the use of that modeler. My current modeler is incompatible with my old files so no finishing for them. They could be next in line for a refit, however. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Re: Phosna Refit

I am using Rhino 3D. I like it because it is really easy to use. My models really aren't all that special. I can think of a lot of other shipsets with more detail than mine. I think that most of the detail is actually coming from the textures. In these models I am actually using textures from real vegetables. Tomatoes, zucchini, cucumber, clover, tree bark, cantelope, etc. It really brings out the veggie-ness in the models. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

I don't care if the ships aren't that complex, they look Great, and thats all that matters when it comes to shipset design in my books.

Great ship set.

Edit; was concerned people might think I was denigrading the set. I love it.

Side note: The AI files are customized for my Eclipse Mod so if you want to use them in a stock game you may want to transfer over the United Flora AI files or something.
