Phosna Refit
I finially learned some new modeling techniques and my old Phosna shipset was the first to get a makeover.
Here is the new ship: http://www.pedfamhome.homeip.net/ISA...readnought.JPG And the old one for comparison: http://www.pedfamhome.homeip.net/ISA...nought_old.JPG |
Re: Phosna Refit
Awsome, simply awsome. I am in awe and shock as I look at this fantastic ship of yours. I am humbled. Must have more.
|
Re: Phosna Refit
hhhmm even it looks good, if someone looks only at the technique.
But maybe you should look for a girlfriend, or have a discussion with her, why you have made that ship look like that :-) Good work, but take care about that other thing .. |

I totally do not get what this post is talking about. Look like what? What other thing? What do women have to do with anything? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/confused.gif |
Re: Phosna Refit
The instant impression of the new ship also give me the impression of a phallos symbol.... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon6.gif
Besides from that, I think they are both good and so different that it would be a waste to loose the first, why not two different shipsets, a new one for the new ships with a new name, perhaps two related empires? |
Re: Phosna Refit
Hmm. People see the strangest things. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif
Anyway, the new ship is closer to what I imagined the Phosna ships to look like. Therefore, if one of them is getting a rename it will be the older one. Maybe distant cousins of the Phosna, seperated by a cosmic catastrophy. Bah, I'll figure that all out eventually. |
Re: Phosna Refit
the remake is remarkable--excellent, and very different- please post more if you decide to redo the whole thing http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
|
Re: Phosna Refit
State the obvious please it looks like a PENIS - the correct medical term for it lol. Still its a very good 3D ship set good work.
|
Re: Phosna Refit
I was SSSOOOOO about to say that rofl
|
Re: Phosna Refit
Ok....so it does look kinda like that. But if anyone thinks It REALLY looks like that needs to see a doctor quick...or a biologist http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif
But dam is that impressive. Your shipsets have been great so far. The shipset you called the "Eneron" http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif was good as well, if not complete. The older vessel could be a fighter? Very good work! |
Re: Phosna Refit
Awesome looking set! I look forward to seeing the rest when it comes out.

Re: Phosna Refit
Very very nice. Will be great to behold the completion of the set. Are they a carnivore plant type or more like the Floral Empire?
|
Re: Phosna Refit
Using the old set as fighters is an interesting idea. If i lose inspiration that would be one of my backup plans. And as for the "unusual" similarites of my ship, that is entirely dependant on the viewer and i cannot emphasise enough how unintentional it was.
Anywho, the Phosna are very similar to the United Flora. Phosna are super peaceful and serene. Unless you mess with the environment. Then they become evironmental extremists and will kill you for even suggesting to burn a forest. Not to mention they are very religious. Shipset will be finished as soon as possible. However, it will not be neo-standard. I ran out of ideas for the ships. sorry. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif Sorry about the Eneron not being completed. My computer crashed and I was never able to, eh, "aquire" the use of that modeler. My current modeler is incompatible with my old files so no finishing for them. They could be next in line for a refit, however. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif |

But back on topic...What program are you using to create these sets? I still cannot get over how much detail is in them. Keep up the great work! |
Re: Phosna Refit
I am using Rhino 3D. I like it because it is really easy to use. My models really aren't all that special. I can think of a lot of other shipsets with more detail than mine. I think that most of the detail is actually coming from the textures. In these models I am actually using textures from real vegetables. Tomatoes, zucchini, cucumber, clover, tree bark, cantelope, etc. It really brings out the veggie-ness in the models. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Re: Phosna Refit
They mean it looks like a penis.
Looks good otherwise. |

Re: Phosna Refit
I finished the infantry model. It turned out better than I ever thought it would. I am really proud of this one. Looking back to my old one I had quite a laugh. I cant believe I released that ugly thing Online. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif

Re: Phosna Refit
Sometimes a shipset is only a shipset and a cigar is only a cigar.
Great ship set. Edit; was concerned people might think I was denigrading the set. I love it. [ July 21, 2004, 19:15: Message edited by: Gryphin ] |
Re: Phosna Refit
I tried experimenting with radial arrays and I came up with this cool design.

Re: Phosna Refit
Whew! All done. You can download it from the following location. Remember children, veggies are good for you! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif
http://www.pedfamhome.homeip.net/ISA/Files/Phosna.rar Side note: The AI files are customized for my Eclipse Mod so if you want to use them in a stock game you may want to transfer over the United Flora AI files or something. |

Re: Phosna Refit
Really nice work. What tools do you use?
|
Re: Phosna Refit
Rhino 3D and Photoshop. Although for this set very little Photoshop was required.
|
Re: Phosna Refit
Sorry to dig up the past, but I remember looking at this ship set and wanting to try using it. The only problem is I just came back here and the links are broken.
Does anyone know of an updated link? |
Re: Phosna Refit
The forum was updated. I honestly do not know about the links, but you can do a search for the ship or whatever if you know the name.
|
Re: Phosna Refit
Or just email Kevin, he is still around.

Thanks for the update everyone. |

AACK! I'm blind! I can't see! Narf's flashlight of searing optical pain has stricken me! Now I will have to get glass eyes and frighten small children for the rest of my days.
