Well they finally did it.
They made the Alien Vs Preditor movie. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
http://www.avp-movie.com/ Saw the previews on TNT. |
Re: Well they finally did it.
I went to the web site and watched the trailers. Looks very good. I will hold my opinion until after I see the movie, but I am hopeful it is better than Aliens 3 & 4, and Predator 2 were.
The Jaguar 64 game Alien Vs Predator was the only game in my life that made me literally jump and get off the floor. That sound the predator made as you walked around level two was just fricking eary. |
Re: Well they finally did it.
I have been following AvP for months and eagerly await my chance to see it. If its bad I will still have had a chance to see Aliens fight Predators, albeit with no chance in the future to see it again. If its good there might be more.
While reading an interview about it there was mention of the advance in effects. Not sure of the details but I think it was comparing the old cloaking field while the Predator stood still to a shot where a pred cloaks or de-cloaks while jumping a chasm. Edit: Just realised some people may talk of it shamelessly mixing two franchises. There is a precedent. In Predator 2 while Danny Glover is in the Predator ship he sees a trophy rack. One of the skulls is obviously an Alien. I'm not talking of an alien skull similar to an ALiens, this is 100% and described even by the films makers as an Aliens skull. Re: Well they finally did it.
yeah, i watched a "trailer" two days ago. Then again it wasnt really a trailer, just a few minor scenes where you saw an alien and a predator, maybe for a total of 15 seconds...you cant really judge a movie by that short time..

Re: Well they finally did it.
I'm usually pretty easy when it comes to sci-fi flicks. Looks pretty interesting.
But, you're right, AT, it HAD to happen... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif |
Re: Well they finally did it.
are you kidding? it looks awful! a giant pyramid under antartic ice WHY? aliens on earth before the first movie WHY? archeologists with guns WHY?
There are so many good AvP story ideas from the computer games and comic books that they could have used, and they come up with this non-sense? and no colonial marines? lame. |
Re: Well they finally did it.
It's probably going to be as bad as the Last Alien movie.
I'll still go see it, but the trailer only encouraged my skepticism. |
Re: Well they finally did it.
I hate movies that put all the action into the trailer to make it look good, then when you finally do go and see it, you realize that the trailer HAD all the actions and was a far better movie than the one you just paid $9.50 to see.

Re: Well they finally did it.
$9.50!?!?
And I though seven dollars was bad. Sometimes, depending on my financial situation and the movie in question, I'll wait until it gets to the 'second hand' theater. It can be as cheap as $0.50 to see it there, on the right day. Of course, the film is usually pretty beat up then. And sometimes the sound track is completely hosed. But for $0.50 you don't have much room to complain. I doubt that theater makes much money, and they'll probably go under soon. Not that I'll be buying their overpriced consessions to support them. |

You have to love the taglines if nothing else:

here in texas its only 6.50 ( my town theaters (77901zip) my only hteater ) course the other problem is the dollar theater went out of business 3 or 4 years ago personally im a cheap skater i go to the noon movies for 4.25 with nobody there to bother me by opening their big mouths and whispering to their friendnext to them on the other side of the theater http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif |
Re: Well they finally did it.
Until recently, theaters here charged $13.95. A few months ago, they lowered the price and now it's $10.95.
This is Canadian dollars. |
Re: Well they finally did it.
I can see movies for $5.50 Canadian. Of course, that's because I'm a student, otherwise the price would be $7.50 which still isn't bad at all. There's a catch though; movies often take 3-4 weeks to get there after they've been in the theaters in large cities.

Re: Well they finally did it.
pretty nice. Im germany most cinemas charge between 7-10 €, 1 € is about 1,2 $

As far as movie prices, I've recently discovered a small theater in the town my in-laws just moved in where it costs only $5 (US) to see a movie, and that's after the matinee timeframe. The matinee price is only $3 for an adult. I've seen a few movies there since I found this place. The Last one was Spiderman 2. Unfortunately, it's only a 6 screen theater, so not all of the movies go there, or if they do, don't stay long. Randallw, if I'm not mistaken, Glover never got the chance to look at the Predator's trophy room. The only time you see the Alien scull is when the Predator is cleaning the spines of a couple of his victim's, and you see the skull. I read an interview once where they said they did that in tribute to the original AVP mini-series. I just wish it hadn't taken 15 years for the concept to go on screen. Too bad they had to make it on modern earth. The original story took place on some faraway colony world, and Ripley was nowhere to be seen. The main human character was female, however, and in the end, she joined up with a predator pack after proving her skills. Hopefully this movie won't be as bad as the Last 2 Alien films. AT, you're wrong about Predator 2. In some ways, I enjoyed it much better than P1. |
