Mod Pack 1.00 Posted
FYI - AI Mod Pack 1.00 is posted over in the download section. This pack was created to avoid multiple downloads and confusing pasting, etc. These AI mods do not add/delete or change any components, technologies or facilities - they just tweak whats already there. This pack contains the following:
(1) Mephisto's Mod ver 1.61 (2) Tampa_Gamer's Darlok 1.35 (3) Daynarr's Sergetti Mod 1.3 (4) Unique speech files for the Darlok and xenophobic Sergetti created by John Zamarra Please see the readme.txt for details on installation and specific file content. Please report any bugs/comments on this thread. Feedback is very welcome, as this is usually the only reward we get for putting in hundreds of hours. Thank you, guys. I have downloaded the mod and will install it later this day (after the normal working routine we all are still obliged to do in spite of SE IV http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/ima...ons/icon10.gif) and start a new game to see how it all works out. when you come here, if not not bookmarke, there is a forum called scenarios/mods archive or somthing like that, click on that (SEIV) and look for a post with atitle same as this.

I have installed the mod, but got an error when starting a new game, creating a new race. The problem seems to be a missing .bmp file for Earth Alliance Race portrait. I have deleted this sub folder and then it worked fine again.

I haven't tested out your mod pack yet. I've just been admiring the changes you've incorporated into your race. That was the only error that I found so far. I don't expect to find anymore http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif. |

I just installed the Mod Pack 1.0 and started a game playing against the Earth Alliance, Darloks and Serengeti(sp?). A few comments:
The Darlok speech files are truly awesome! The first thing they said was something to the effect of: If you don't move your ship from our system, the bomb we've planted on board will blow it up! Very cool. Later, when they suggested a trade alliance, it was something like: The best thing we can do for our mutual enemies is form this trade alliance. I'm quite happy that the Darloks are leading everyone in intel production. My compliments to the creator of this race! I haven't run into the EA yet but I can see that they have TONS and TONS of units. My score is higher but I don't look forward to encountering them without PD V's. The EA have more research production than all of the other AI races--including one race which I set to god-like research. This is pretty impressive! Again, my thanks to the creator of this race. I haven't stumbled upon the Serengeti yet either. But these three custom races are in second, third and fourth place. This is a very good sign to me. I have a question: Now that I have these custom races out there, will the computer automatically choose them or do I have to manuallly add then in each time? Thanks to everyone working on mods and shipsets and making it easier for folks like me to download! |

Yes, SE4 will use these races at random like all the other orginal races , too. You don't need to inlcude them if you wish to be surprised. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif

That's somewhat of a legal issue. I just did not create the shipset and don't have the permisson to use it (yet, but I keep trying http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif). I hope the shipset will be included in the next pack.

Question: I just installed the MOD and a folder called "Stellar" is in the race folder. Where is it supposed to go? I copied the .bmp's into the events folder, but wanted to check to make sure I didn't get losted http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif

Nmoppam, thanks! The EA set was my first. I didn't make most of the models but it was a good learning experience on rendering models.
Look for the Narn set coming soon at my site, Mephisto is making the AI script for the Narn, so they should be just as good as the EA AI script. Pathfinder, the Stellar folder goes in the Pictures folder. I have 4 installations and all of them have it there. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif
You have most likely drag/dropped the folder in the races folder by accident. It has nothing to do with any mod. |

Ok, so far one type of error is being reported with Mod Pack 1.00, an intermittent index error that was reported by two people. I am in the process of isolating this problem - but I need everyone's help WHO IS CURRENTLY USING THE MOD PACK. What would really help me is if you could please reply with the following info:
(1) What type of game you are playing with the Mod Pack (i.e. TL start, racial points used, type of galaxy, etc.) (2) What races are you using from the Mod Pack or if the computer added any from the Mod Pack (3) Whether you have encountered any errors. Report even if you haven't b/c this will help isolate the error. (4) Whether you modified any of your components or facilities. Thanks in advance for your help! I received the index error using the Mod Pack 1. Large, Mid-Life Quad, Max Empires Max Neutrals. The error occured after about sixty turns during the Darlok's move (At war with them). I was able to remove the error by replacing all the Darlok AI files from Mod Pack 1 with the files from your previous Darlok Mod Pack (1.31). I have run an additional twenty turns with no errors. OK. Great news everybody - Mephisto caught a spelling error in my construction_facilities file that we hope is causing the index error. Spelling is really not my strong point!! - for now on I promise to spell check my files prior to posting http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/ima...ons/icon12.gif Here is the replacement file. For those of you that didn't download Version 1.00 yet, the patch files posted in this thread were included in the 1.01 Version posted over in the download section today. The only change between these two Versions was the correction of the spelling error (in the Darlok construction_facility file) and spacing error (in the Darlok politics file) discussed below.
EZ - that is a wierd one. Do you have any other modified files which would be causing it? |

Small feedback on Mod 1.00 Pack:
Good news: Earth Alliance AI builds Atmospheric Modification Plants. Bad News: It builds them also on Oxygen planets, that need no atmospheric modification for their population. But besides this, great improvement. I like the heavy use of the units by the Earth Alliance very much. Thank you for your great work. |

Yea, that's a sad thing. You can't tell the AI not to build an converter on planets with the right atmosphere. It's all or nothing.

Atrocities- No problem. B/T/W I double-checked your posted Version. It is not the newest. We posted 1.01 to catch a few spacing/spelling errors that were causing some index errors. It is posted in the same place.
