bookmarked the page. http://www.noblearmada.com/main.asp |
Re: is this a bit like
No release date given at that site or Matrix Games, I noticed...
BTW, has anybody here played FreeLancer? Any comparisons to Starfury? |
Re: is this a bit like
I loved Freelancer! The main missions were OK, and the random missions had a lot of promise. Being able to stray from the main story was a great experience, as you could explore off the beaten path. It made the universe seem very big! Patrol ships, transports and cargo haulers buzzed about space stations and went along their business along the trade lanes, and you could hear their chatter on the comms. Every system had a distinctive look and feel. Very immersive.
Unfortunately the random missions grew repetitive very quickly, and the galaxy seemed smaller after you found that there weren't very many star systems after all. I hope Starfury puts more than this into random missions than the main story, or else it's going to be a short game. |
Re: is this a bit like
Unless, of course, the MM tradition continues and the game is highly moddable.
|
Re: is this a bit like
Speaking of similarities... how similiar is the game play going to be to Escape Velocity:Nova ?
|
Re: is this a bit like
I think quite similar, except that it probably won't ship with 6 major storylines. Starfury is in 3D, so the combat might be a bit more difficult.
EV:N is a great game; I can recommend it to anybody here who waits for Starfury. There's a windows port available, and the shareware Version is good for 30 days. You only miss out a few ships and the ability to capture enemy vessels. -Dante [ September 05, 2003, 10:14: Message edited by: Dante ] |
Re: is this a bit like
I think starfury you only have controle over one ship, whereas in noble amarda you can control many.
|
Re: is this a bit like
You have direct control over the one ship you are personally in, but if you have a carrier (or just fighter bays) for example, you can order your fighters around.
And of course, you can mod the precice definition of "Fighter" to include escort destroyers if you cared to. Come to think of it, a Devnull-style Pet Space Monster would be fun to unleash on an unsuspecting pirate clan http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif [ September 06, 2003, 02:57: Message edited by: Suicide Junkie ] |

Have you pre-ordered yet? If not do so before the first fun is sold out. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Re: is this a bit like
In a nebulae system would be good, or an asteroid system, so that it can be out of the way and hidden.

Re: is this a bit like
a nebulae and asteriod system.
