BSG problem
First off, I'd like to apologize if this is a repeat...I'm tired...
Ok, the problem: I start up the starfury, start a new game, click the BSG campaign, select my ship, blah blah...hit start or whatever and it has an error, i can't print the entire error because it would likely go over the word limit for this forum. more or less the error says that it can't load anything in the game, ships, components, you name it. Here's a small sample: Could not find field "Picture Bitmap Index" in record 1. Could not find field "Placement Locations" in record 1. Here's another sample from about halfway down: Could not find field "Energy Consump Inc Per Level" in record "Ionic Disperser". Could not find field "Weapon Beam Duration" in record "Ionic Disperser". and another from the end: Could not find field "Credit Value Inc Pct Per Level" in record "Cylon Fighter". Could not find field "Energy Consump Inc Per Level" in record "Cylon Fighter". EDIT: btw, i've got v1.15 ------------------------------- | COMPLETELY OFF TOPIC BABBLING | ------------------------------- thanks for any help in advance, good night, i've gotta wake up for school in about 7 minutes...yay...WOOHOO!!! I don't have to actually goto school, there's a contest thing for the regions best bands...neat, except i have to leave school by 6:30 am...not cool, of course with perkins i have to leave my house by about 4:30...i'm cold...oh right, I'm also off topic...sorry for rambling...of course, instead of deleteing it, i'll leave it all here for your entertainment... Re: BSG problem
The problem here is the new patch added those data fields that are giving you errors. The mod will have to be updated to include them.
|
Re: BSG problem
Phoenix is right; the new patch creates havoc with the mod (don't get me wrong, though-- there's a heck of a lot of stuff I like about the new patch. Can't wait to start making my own commodity lists!). However, I'm working on a conVersion and hope to have it up in the next day or so, as well as a patch for folks who already have the mod. So, sit tight-- I'll have it up soon!
|
Re: BSG problem
If you ever figure out the commodity system, please tell me. Right now all I can figure is it randomly dumps comps marked "Is a commoditity" into the commodity listing and randomly changes the price..no settings for either that I've found.

Re: BSG problem
Ok, I have a patch that should address the problems folks are having with the Battlestar Galactica Mod and the new patch:
Battlestar Galactica Mod Version 1.15 Patch This also adds sound effects from the show to the game, as well. Please let me know if you have any problems. Please note that this updates the original BSG mod to work ith Starfury 1.15; if you don't have the mod, you'll have to download it here first. I'll have the full Version updated in the next few days. |
Re: BSG problem
I loaded BSG mod and the patch but I keep getting an error with some of the mod files when I try to shuttle over to any planet or station.
|
Re: BSG problem
Hmm... That's odd. Seems to work for me, and I thought I had included all of the newest files in the patch. Can you be more specific about the problem? What error are you getting (you may have to run the game in windowed mode to get the error listed)?

Re: BSG problem
The error I am getting refers to \main sites Colonial research facility.Section 4 name, type and centre id are missing.Fixed it by copying from colonial industrial centre.

Re: BSG problem
Ahhh.... Thanks, Acepaint. I found the problem-- there were a few odd entries in the Main_Sites.txt file that were screwed up... I could swear I caught those the first go-around, though http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif . Anyway, the patch has been updated, so grab it and reinstall it and all should be well.
Thanks for the help, guys! |
Re: BSG problem
No problem, any idea on the range errors yet?I got one when I was picking up the pieces after a battle.
|
Re: BSG problem
No, I'm still stumped on that, although I don't believe I've encountered one recently. Did your Last one happen on the 1.15 Version of the game?
|
Re: BSG problem
Yep 1.15,I also got another one after I delivered the people in the 2nd mission when I went after the Cylon freighter. One question how hard is it to create some new misions for your mod or the original game. Can you just add them in the main events and main misions or is it more involved then that? The thought came to me when there where no new missions after I found enough fighters.I did find the next mission once I went back to sector command instead of looking at the planets.
|
Re: BSG problem
After you deliver the diplomats to Carillon, you need to speak to your contact on Carillon to get the next mission, which is delivering the Tyllium to the Refining station. I'll try to make that more obvious in future revisions, but I thought that shows up in the mission log.
|
Re: BSG problem
No you misunderstood it was right after I found enough fighters that I couldn't find the next mission. That was because after 4-5 tries to get the mod to work I didn't bother reading the mission again so I missed where I was supposed to go afterwards.
|
Re: BSG problem
Oh, I see. If you have enough fighters, return back to Sector Command in Caprica to get your next mission.
|
Re: BSG problem
Heh, I have a different problem, i can't get it to load at all...
I go to start the campaign and it gets 90% done generating maps and throws some kind of error... I can't see the error window however, so I can't tell you what kind http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif |
Re: BSG problem
Run Starfury in windowed mode then try it. That'll most likely let you see the error.
|
Re: BSG problem
What Version of SF are you running, Paladin? If you're running 1.15, did you grab the BSG 1.15 patch, too?
|
Re: BSG problem
Lousy double post...

Re: BSG problem
Yeah, I'm running 1.15 and I applied the patch zip to the mod, so I don't know what's wrong. I'll try the windowed mode thing when I get back from going out to eat.
|
Re: BSG problem
Nevermind... I ran it in windowed mode and read the error message and it was choking on every single file, so I went and looked at the mod folder more carefully and realized that WinRAR had unpacked the zip into a subfolder. Bad WinRAR, bad.
