Right, Im starting a new mod... (Nice simple and straight to the point http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif )
I shall be looking into altering every aspect of the game that can be altered, so in months too come it will look like a completely different game The reason I have called this mod "The Peoples Mod" is simply because thats wot it is, anyone can contribute to it, wheather it be by giving ideas or creating models, graphics, etc. for the people by the people (or something to that effect) And because its not based on one specific thing (may change if warranted), we can let our imaginations go wild within the boundaries of the game However do note, cos I do not have any moddling skills, many of the early ships are bound to be Star Trek If anyone wants to get in contact with me over contributing to this mod then my email is <removed> or post here If you have any thoughts and ideas, then post them here Mod D/L link http://deadzone.lfhost.com/download.php?list.2 Screenshots may be viewed here http://www.deadzone.lfhost.com/pplmodss/ [ April 02, 2004, 01:33: Message edited by: DeadZone ] |

Well, you've got only one ship in purchase ships enemy- and that one ship refers to a ship layout file that doesn't exist.
Ship Class Name := Miranda Short Description := Blah. Ship Descriptive Class Name := Destroyer Displayed Size Name := Destroyer Space Object XFile Name := Miranda Component Configuration Slots Name := Terran Destroyer Layout There IS no Terran destroyer layout in the enemy configuration file. EDIT: same problem with the starting player ship. Once I fixed those it gave me a different error- couldn't find planet_earth.bmp [ March 06, 2004, 01:54: Message edited by: Phoenix-D ] |

Once I copied the planet_earth.bmp from my Starfury images folder into a new Effects folder in the mod, it ran fine. Interesting warp point look..and very freaky star glow.

Well the interesting thing is that it loads up, but just as its about to go into the game (hits 100% on loading) its just crashes with an Access Violation, thats just damn confusing, it isnt doing it wit any of the other campaigns now

Isn't the Miranda model kinda small? I mean the beam when you fire is as wide as the whole ship. I try to mod Whitestar and Omega Class Cruiser from B5 but Lithunwrap just doesn't understand so complex models so I have to use 3DSMax which I can't use so well now.
By the way. Is someone of you good making textures? I made a ship but it needs texture and I'm not good making one. The model isn't that good either. EDIT: Fixed broken link. [ March 07, 2004, 12:16: Message edited by: Exan ] |

Ok. I'll post the model to internet as soon as possible. I also created Vulture ship but it's engine is ugly so I'm going to make a second Version of it. I can do the models at some point but I'm poor at making textures. Oh, and I would be honored if Pearl Dragon would be used in People's Mod. I have all data files ready for it too. The hardpoints aren't right though. The engine glows are below the ship for some reason. Same thing about the phaser fire. Anyway, all other images have to be done. I'll put the image into net later today.
Anyway, thanks Wydraz. I can also make planet portraits. Something like in here Just little photoshop after that and I can add buildings to the landscapes. Like I said, I'd like to help. EDIT: Error in the link again. [ March 08, 2004, 18:47: Message edited by: Exan ] |

Well if you do the models and say Wydraz does the textures, and then have it exported into .x format, we are laughing on the ship side.
Might use some of them pics, nvr know wot the usefulness could be As for the hardpoints, I take it then you have already tried this in StarFury? |

Also Exan, if Wydraz textures your model, any chance of using it in the peoples mod? Also (2), in a few weeks once I have got a few things together and this has progressed abit Im thinking about starting a Star Trek mod seeing as the other two have stopped Then we will have too differents mod on the go, on top of the BSG mod and the P&N mod |

Exan, Ive altered your model slightly so it looks better in SF, your one makes it appear too high above the X, all I did, but it has altered the models UV map, anyway heres the file wit the modified model and new UV map so you can take a look and give me a yay or nay

The images in my Terragen gallery are just examples. I can create different landscapes as well. And also some movies. Here's one for example.
Plains of Despair It's in DivX format and not so good. Anyway, movies take a huge amount of time to render. First you have to render every single frame and then unite the images into movie and then compress it. That example had over 600 frames and it took 2 hours to render though now I have two computers and I can put them both work the animation. And how did you change the model? I didn't saw any difference. Anyway, it looks...golden. I'm hoping more white-gray color scale. The ship is supposed to be a light cruiser and meant for reconnoissance and black ops missions if it helps in texturing. |

Now that I'm over-excited about Starfury again I made a new model and a crappy web page for it. Later I will turn the page into a shipyard page.
Anyway, here's the latest model. DS-2 Scorpion It's almost a straight copy from the B5 Excalibur but I made this one from the scracth. I think it's pretty good though like all my models this one needs texturing. I should really study texturing. |

How many more Versions of the Pearl Dragon will you have?
Cos atm I do think its looks more like a Freighter than anything else But anyway I was thinking this... Ideas Storyline - You start off as a freighter captain trying to earn a living when after (X amount of runs / Lvl X / something else) the Human Alliance Navy offers you a job (of course you have no choice but too accept http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif ) if possible I will try and code it in that you are given a new ship or given enuf money to get the new ship Then you will go through and complete missions, with a deeper storyline unfolding Of course once completed I do feel it maybe a good idea to do more people mod campaigns And of course we will want to do a number of Star Trek campaign And a petition campaign for Aaron to try and make StarFury multiplayer like Freelancer is http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif Comments welcome |

The story idea sounds good. Btw, Pearl Dragon being a freighter? Maybe so, I didn't originally plan it to be freighter but it does kinda look one. Freighter and passenger ferry it is then.
But this new one, Scorpion is totally a warship. What do you think about it. Is the model worth continuing on giving it a texture and Starfury data? |

If by portraits you mean the landscapes pictures, I use a program called Terragen. It's free in non-commercial use.

umm. The Pearl Dragon is upside down. The engines should be below the ship. And it's good at freighter class ship. Maybe as a pirate vessel too. I will make a new Version which has decent cannons under it's wings as a military Version.

Yeah I realized I had put the PD upside down, this was corrected about 1 minute after release, so it will be sorted in the next Version and it will also have some primiary textures (nothing fancy just abit of color)
