***Official*** The Peoples Mod vPR-08.May.04
 
The peoples mod is a mod that is currently in deveolopment by Project X Studios

We will be looking into making a mod that has so many variations from the stock game, as well as anything else we can think of

The team currently working on this mod is

DeadZoneMDx: Coding
Wydraz: Textures, graphics
Exan: Modeling

We welcome anyone to the team if they wanna come along and join us

Over at PXS I will be releasing screenshots showing things to come, and things already in on a regular basis (dont worry I will post here whenever I put any up http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif )

Anyway, suggestions, question, ideas and comments (good or bad) are all welcome as long as they are constructive

About ideas:
Lots of news. Lots of lots of news. To me atleast it gives a feeling that something happens in the galaxy and that the galaxy is much more alive. And rename the news center to Universe today or something magazine -like.
About models:
Currently the best model I've made to the game looks like this.

Yeah I know, but there is one huge snag

You cant "shoot on the fly"

Basically, you hit the buttom, you have to go out of the program and into a image program and paste from teh clipboard and repeat

And screenshot program allows you to just hit a button, comtinue, hit a button, continue and so on, cos it just puts the picture into a folder of your choose to touch later

I find it alot quicker

re that discussion: negative power generation works. Sorta. See, it doesn't check the generation if you're at full power. Once the player does something that DRAINS power like firing a weapon, the regeneration is checked and power begins dropping.

That shouldn't really be a problem.
The only way to get to full storage without having a net gain in power would be:
1) Buy repairs at a SY, and never fire any weapon afterwards (even PD).
2) Take damage to your reactors, and still not fire any weapon.

The "not firing any weapons" thing is gonna get you killed very quickly.

Yes, but it does mean you get no "fuel drain" until you're in combat..which negates any ideas of making energy purely fuel.

I thought you would be interested in a little experiment I did some time ago...

It worked only partially, but you could use some parts of it to your benefit.

I can also model but that isn't one of my best skills.

When I go to register on your site I am required to enter my birthday, but the boxes are set to large and I cannot use the year box and therefore am unable to register.

Welcome to the team on my behalf. I do some of the models and add their data files do Deadzone has just to edit them. However I'm extremely poor at making textures so I would appreciate any help on them. Check the following site if you're interested. It's a site where I put my models. Currently the DS-4 Wolf requires textures. The other ones are finished allready. So if you want to create texture for it I will send the files to you or add them to the site.

Oh and another topic. I have a friend who also makes ship models. He often creates models which looks pretty "alien" so I'm going to try to convince him to join the team. He doesn't know how to add the ship to the game so I will do that part. I myself like to do the Terran (Human alliance) ships. (and bases)

Ok. I sent the model to you. I just hope the email addres you had in your profile was the correct one. I started making slots, and other data for the ship but the problem arise when Lithunwrap doesn't want to cooperate anymore. It always saves the x file so that it cannot open it anymore again. Plus it cannot wrap the texture map on the ship. Annoying. I guess it's max's fault. I have to edit the max file and try to get that work.

Anyway, the model data is finished and I'm pretty sure it work. Still some scaling is required but I'm pretty sure that the hardpoints are 100% right.

Alrighty, I will try the thing again this afternoon. I prefer to have the ship working at some level and test that the hardpoints are correctly set but if I can't get it work I will be happy to transfer that headache to you. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">That isn't something modders have access to. One of the down sides of text based modding over something like Half-Life's is that you have much less access the "under the hood" stuff like this.

Some of the models are also downloadable. The textures are a bit amauterish in some models especially in Manhattan and Spacedock but I'm redoing them if I have time. The Last ship Falcon came out pretty well.

Fairly good. We have currently 15 starsystems and over 10 original models plus some nice technology.
