I would imagine that a demo will be released once the game goes gold....when it goes into printing....

I can't say much without approval (it's an NDA thing) but I don't think anybody would mind me letting y'all know that the delay isn't anything critical. It's just about some Last-minute details getting cleaned-up to insure the product is 100% ready.

I'm just guessing on the demo but I think they'll want to wait and build it off the same final gold code, so it'll probably come out around the time of the new gold date. That's certainly nothing official - just one editing parrot's best guess. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

So…the game is going gold on Oct. 10 or so, and orders are expected to be shipped Oct. 30…? Does that mean that the demo will be available sometime around Oct. 10 - 3 weeks before we're likely to have the full game in our hands? Can anyone tell me if this is roughly right?

Not that I'm going to refuse to buy the game if you dont make a demo or something. Also the demo help convice people dominions is good, because it's much harder to convince people to buy games without demos, and showing people the dominions 1 demo and then saying "...but dominions 2 should fix that..." probably doesnt convince them as much. We won't release a demo until we at least have code to Gold status. Once the game has been certified as Gold then we will release the demo shortly after that. Otherwise we would have to patch the demo prior to release http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif .

It just depends on the schedule we have set around then. But typically it's released right before or right after a game starts to ship. I can't give you a specific date right now.
