AI is defenitely the stronges I have ever seen in any TBS game. I still play on easy level and just recently switched to normal.

Re: Big words...?

I'll say this: I felt good about finally beating the Easy AI. I haven't been brave enough to switch up to Normal yet. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

I haven't personally tested it on anything slower than a 933 P3, but I have the graphics turned up fairly high on that machine and it runs with no hitch. In fact, the turns process so quickly, I don't always have time to read the helpful tips!

The AI is so great it wrote our product pages for us! It is handling coding the game as we speak!

Now THAT is marketing talk http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif .

That really isn't such an amazing claim. *g* They are amazing at game-making, but web-design or marketing is not their forte. (They still haven't got any information about Dominions II reachable from their main webpage.)

I think it is very considerate of him to place the credit for shrapnel games product pages where it is due, I can say, without exaggerating, that without the dom2 AI shrapnelgames wouldnt be the company it is today. In fact upcoming improvements in the dom2 AI will soon make Richard and most of the other shrapnel staff all but redundant. The slight delay in the release of dom2 might very well have been a futile attempt by unknown shrapnel personel to stay the inevitable in a vain attempt to redefine positions that the dom2 AI threatens to turn into mere ornamentations.

Re: Big words...?

Illwinter people,
Your AI-souless-bots maybe code the game, but they're unable to update your site.. Last update is MAY 2003 !!!! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

More seriously, has the game AI specific advantages when put on higher level (more gold, unirs, pumped-up units, "flawed" dice, less unrest, "automatic" knowledge of other nations'army, detection of hidden troops, whatever) or is it just *smarter* ?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">The AI is handicapped on easy and get design points and resource andvantages at higher difficulties, the decisions process of the AI is alwasy the same.

Re: Big words...?

I was never able to know if the AI would get bonuses while playing, or just at start. Impossible AI in doms I started very big, but it was difficult to knows if they had a bonus in gold, resources, or research after the initial setup, or if their power stemmed from the snowballing effect of initial bonuses.

do you know how it works?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Higher difficulty AI gets more gold, resources, and gems. On top of the snowball effect of the initial design point bonus.
