Dominions II system requirements?

I'm eager to get my hands on dominions II, but there is still one question that keeps me from preordering it.
What are the system requirements for the game?
I've tried to browse your site, but have been unable to find an answer.
To make a long question short, is my imac 333 mhz with mac os x able to run it?

Dominions II has not been tested on a mac that old.

However I believe that your mac has some kind of accelerated OpenGL which is the most important thing. My guess is that you can run it, but with poor graphics settings.

I would recommend trying out the demo when it is available.

To answer the actual question:
Dominions I worked on 385 computers. Not 385Mhz, but 385 computers.
I believe that Dom II runs fine on 333Mhz computers because it runs on 233Mhz computers. I think it was JK who has that 233Mhz computer.

EDIT:JK answered your question.
I believe it works "fine" on my 333Mhz PII with Riva TNT 2(got this as a birthday gift year ago) however.

I don't play games much, and for "useful stuff" my computer works just fine.
In fact, I have a collection of five macs on my table, from the ancient mac plus to this one. I guess the G5 would be the next logical step to take. Shame I missed the fourth generation of apple computers though.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">It is true that the game runs nicely on my old PII 233 mHz computer. But it also has a very modern (for a 233 mHz machine) graphics card, a geforce 2mx. And a decent OpenGL compatible graphics card is the most imortant thing when running Dominions II on a crappy computer.

Does Dominions II support OpenGL or Direct 3d (or maybe both)

Is Dom II created with Visual c++ like dom I?

This is kinda funny. I tought that a 2Ghz P4 with a Gef3 at least is a minimal system in these days.....
All of my friends have at least 2Ghz P4 or Athlon with a Gef4..... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Bah, you fell to the builder's ads and the twitch-crowd performance frenzy !
I'm still quite happy with my 4-years old Athlon500 and a GF2, can play Dom1, GalCiv, AoW SM, MTW/VI, HoI, Combat Mission BB & BO, all HPS games, UV, Airborne Assault ...And I'll play Dom2 soon on it ! Yeah ! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Re: Dominions II system requirements?

I also observed my ~1.2 ghz with a geforce 2 being suitable for just about anything I've needed to run. I'm finally running into things I want to run that don't run nice...but that's because I'm taking my once-every couple years look at 3d intensive first person games and noticing Chrome out now and HL2/Deus Ex 2/other stuff that sounds interesting in the future and figuring its about time to upgrade somewhat...although I'm disturbed to learn they make 3d cards with a memory half that of my entire computer.

But in general the player base for dominions 2 is not the player base for mass market (meaning: really shallow and pretty looking) games. Although I have found a rpg that doesnt run smoothly on my computer (Temple of Elemental Evil), its pretty much the only rpg/tbs/rts I've seen have problems running. Except when I abused the mechanics of baldurs gate 2 and cast every damage spell my mage had one on top of the other instantly while time stopped....that slowed things down a lot...and killed the final boss instantly and excessively.

It's kinda funny how much more out of date my 3d card is...1.2 ghz isnt bad but johan k has the same card in his 233mhz. And mortifier...having been looking at 3d cards recently...I feel sorry for anyone using a Nvidia FX card of any nature. They've been cheating on benchmarks and they still can't disguise it being a bad card compared to ATI's cards. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif
